We stayed 4 nights at this wonderful hotel. This hotel is hands down the best in the area as we could actually see both Laos and Burma from our lovely top floor balcony. Very pleasant views of the 2 rivers, watching slow boats cross the triangle on the way to China.
This is the only hotel with such a view. Other hotels say that they are on the triangle but are not. The nearest hotel was probably 1km away. Chiang Saen is not on the Golden Triangle but another 10km away and Chiang Rai about 2hrs by bus.
You may have some trouble getting here if free wheeling. We caught the overnight VIP bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and then the public bus service from Chiang Mai to Chiang Saen, then tuktuk to hotel (18hrs in total).
Only a short walk to the pleasant golden triangle tourist attraction, and boat tours.
Large hotel but very quiet and constantly maintained with beautiful grounds. Staff were very presentable and accommodating. Rooms were very comfortable, spacious, and clean. We had to join 2 single beds together, to make a double (didn't bother us).
The restaurant also has an equally commanding view of the Triangle, breakfast was a fantastic buffet. Should have had dinner in the hotel as there isn't much around.
The price was excellent value, they could easily charge double for being the only hotel on such a landmark.
Tours offered by the hotel, can be customised. Our guide was flexible and very knowledgeable with excellent English. We took the tour to the King Mother's Royal Garden, Akha Hill tribe, Monkey/Fish Cave, Mae Sai and Tachilek (Burma).
Overall, highly recommend this hotel for independent travellers who want the full experience of being on the Golden Triangle.
