Description: WOOD FIRED FROM THE HEARTFAVOLA, a specialty Italian restaurant by the Kok River, is the ultimate riverside dining destination in Chiang Rai for the “lazy gourmet” in a contemporary country scene, with breathtaking views of the Kok River and surrounding Mountains either day or evening. The cuisine in Favola is more of a journey rather than a meal period reflecting its name which means “fable or story” in English, where simplistic Italian flavours are presented from our signature wood fired oven and char-grill along with an array other Authentic Italian favourites.

“The *ONLY* place to go for Sunday Brunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

At around 700 baht/person Favola offers a stunning "all you can eat" Sunday Brunch. It's a favourite of the ex-pat's living here and the food is always extremely good. It's also a fabulous place for your own or their organized special occasions like Xmas Eve etc. The rest of the time it's an excellent Italian restaurant, great Pizza's & Pasta's and it's location at Le Meridien overlooking the river is unbeatable. Stunning, attentive staff, top-flight management and owned by one of the nicest families in town under Starwood's management. Unfortunately, I am usually driving here and cannot partake of the "all you can drink" freeflow wine at the Sunday Brunch available as an extra. Reservations recommended!

Dear Bruce J,

WOW, what a great review, thank you so much!
Favola, Italian restaurant at Le Meridien Chiang Rai is, as you mentionned, the location of our Sunday Brunch from time to time only as the main venue is Latest Recipe usually.
We are indeed open everyday for dinner with stunning Tuscanny's inspired Italian food.
Thanks again for your very positive review and nice words.

All the best,

Renaud Mahe

“Nice meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Nice atmosphere, ideal for courting couples as it has a very intimate atmosphere.

Food of good quality, but if you don't like your Puttanesca hot, make sure you tell them as we found it a little spicy.

“Surprisingly good Italian food in an idyllic setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

It's not likely you'd check out Favola unless you were actually staying at the Le Meridien just outside of Chiang Rai. But if you, it's a pretty good option. It's a classy Italian restaurant where you might actually forget you're in Thailand). The linguini al mare was especially good but they had pizza and even foie gras. Romantic setting with the river just outside and dim lighting to enhance to mood. Also a pretty good wine selection, I recall.

Compared to food elsewhere in Thailand, it is pricey. If you compare it to US standards (which I'm not sure if one should do), then it's actually pretty good bang for your buck (~ $60USD per person for us but we had lots of apps, an entree, several desserts and couple of bottles of wine).

Dear Flaul,

First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to post a review about Favola, the Italian restaurant of Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort.
I'm delighted to read your comments and happy to share with the teams.
We work hard to make sure we deliver the best and it is great to get your recognition.
I really believe we are not that pricey comparing of the quality of imported food we provide our guests with.
On another hand, the wine tax being so high in Thailand, it is always a big part of the bill.
Thanks again for your review and we hope to have the pleasure to see again.

All the best,

Dear yasminoded,

Thank you very much for such a great review about the Italian restaurant of Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort, Favola.
I'm thrilled to share your comments to my team as we all remember your family.
Regarding the price, we definintely are higher than the local food due to the top quality imported goods we cook every day. Saying that I believe our prices are very much below what you can find in any other five star hotel in Thailand.
Thanks againa nd we hope to see you soon again.
Very best regards,
