“Disappointing holiday”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

Thought it would be a great way to celebrate my 40th with family and friends in Thailand, what a mistake to stay at this hotel!!!! Stayed at the hotel for 5 nights (was suppose to be 6 but we checked out a day early). When we arrived I have to agree with other reviewers that the check in staff are not very friendly. We had bought a deal with deals.com.au and right from the start had problems with the hotel even trying to book our accommodation from Sydney. When I arrived I asked reception how the deal worked with meals and the spa treatments, no one could give me an answer to my questions out of the 6 staff behind the reception desk. The check in staff were not up to date with the deal packages. In the end the front desk manager came out and answered my questions (which you would presume would be correct information that she gave, no such luck)

When checking out we were charged for meals that were included in the deal we had booked and paid for. It seems the front desk manager I talked to when I checked in had given us the wrong information and wanted to charge us for some of the meals. The check out process took us over an hour and then we were on the phone from Bangkok for a whole day afterwards with the hotel trying to clear up the problem. The front desk manager was extremely rude to us and argued with us on the phone and at one stage hung up on us. In the end we didn’t have to pay for the meals but ended up costing us just as much in telephone calls to the hotel.

One other problem we had was we went down half way through the holiday to pay for the drinks we had on our account, when we checked out these had not been taken off and they said we had not paid for them. Luckily for us we had the receipt but they still argued and said they weren’t paid for. In the end we had to say we were willing to get the police involved in this matter to look into it.

The resort itself......
Ask about wifi when you check in as they only have a certain amount of routers for guests. There is free wifi throughout the hotel but not in your rooms, very strange.

The food is average for both breakfast and other meals. Our meals were included in the deal however we only ended up eating at the hotel 4 times. There are many family restaurants around the hotel that have excellent food and from looking at the pricing a lot cheaper than the hotel restaurants which are expensive by Thai standards. Eat out or don’t eat at all.

In our package included were 12 half hour spa vouchers, however when we arrived the deal was we could only get 2 hour massages for those 12 vouchers. It was also extremely hard to get an appointment to have this massage. We ended up missing out on this due to our decision to leave the resort early, therefore cannot comment on whether they were any good.

The hotel itself is in need if some TLC there are a few area's that need attention. The exterior of the building needs a clean and painting. The rooms themselves are old and tired. The air conditioning is extremely noisy and there is no minibar. There is a fridge but nothing in it.The towels are old and ratty and the beds extremely hard. The block out blinds have seen better days and don’t work to full effect. The view from all the rooms is fantastic. The lift service can be a very long wait.

The pool is big and pool bar great however tiles are falling off the walls around the pool and the decking around the pool is loose in places. The bar tenders are great, the service here was exceptional.

The hotel provides free return shuttle to Hua Hin town at specific timings but pre-booking in advance is required. If you miss out on the shuttle the concierge can arrange a taxi for you. We used these quite often and had no problems. We got tuk tuks back to the hotel and these were great fun, just be firm on the price. The Novotel could look at increasing the shuttle service times, especially on the weekend,

We did love the little village atmosphere outside the hotel with the 7/11, massage shops, laundry's, restaurants and the pharmacy. The restaurants along the beach were just fantastic.
When we asked to speak to Alexander Parry, the general manager, we were refused and they would not even give us his email address to make contact with him in relation to all the problems we had on check out.

I am really disappointed in the hotel standard and the service from the hotel front desk. There is hardly any professionalism at all. I would definitely not return and would also tell friends to avoid this hotel. There are so many other hotel choices in Cha Am / Hua Hin.

We did have a good time in Hua Hin and Cha Am. We did a couple of tours and totally enjoyed ourselves. Just wouldn’t recommend to stay at this particular resort.

Hua Hin is a very small quiet town and kind of neglected due to big daddies like Pattaya and Phukhet. But you stay at Novotel's beach facing property and you ll realize that you've found a hidden gem.

Large, specious rooms with simple decor. Rooms are clean and neatly done.

Super view from the room.

Large spread of breakfast with Thai and continental food.

Very helpful staff.

An ideal destination for a cozy vacation

The food in the hotel restaurant is very good qality and good value for money. The view from our room is great. The kids enjoyed the pool and the water slide a lot. The room is basic and clean. The breakfast is good. The price for spa is very reasonable. The beach is average and nobody swim there. The transportation arranged by the hotel was not reliable, we had problems with the pickup service from Bangkok Airport. They also forgot our booking for the transport service from the hotel to Bangkok. The hotel is popular with local tourists and it gets very crowded on the weekend.

Room Tip: Try to avoid connecting room. The sound proofing is not good.

This is a superb place with a great view and friendly staff. The pool is great to relax and has a pool bar to add to the relaxation. There is nothing to do much in the vicinity of the hotel so spend your time at the beach/pool. The view from the rooms is breathtaking and in the evenings it becomes better.

Located apprx. 3-4 hours from Bangkok, Cha Am is frequented more by locals than tourists.
As expats, we came to know of this place & decided to stay for a long weekend - and of course we were not disappointed.

Location : is mid way between the towns of Cha Am & Hua Hin , right on the beach (but with restricted access). They have free shuttle service to Hua Hin (you need to book early to get a seat in the min van though), so even you do not have a vehicle, you can enjoy an evening at the popular tourist town of Hua Hin.

Rooms - were adequate in size with nice balcony overlooking the hotel garden , pool & of course the sea! The washroom was clean enough & fairly sized.

The reception desk was very good - assisted us thoroughly until we were settled in our room.

Not being within the town area, you have limited options to move around (unless you book a car to take you around - that was what we did one day). However the pool is a great place to spend your day - a large pool for adults as a big 2 feet deep pool for the kiddos with a slide - which adults also can enjoy ;-)

The weekend was crowded with families from Bangkok and it did seem the pool was over-crowded - from the room I could see only heads bobbing up & down!

During the evening you can spend time at the recreation center by the pool side, which has a library (small) and quiet a bit of activities & games for the kiddos. With them busy playing, you can relax!

Food : was very good, as was the service. YOu can enjoy the dinner at the sea side restaurant on the terrace enjoying the sea breeze or sit indoors enjoying the sports on a large screen.

Over all, recommend for 2/3 nights stay with family & friends.

Room Tip: Any rooms on the higher floor.

The only reason we chose this hotel was because of the pool and children's activity center that we thought would be nice for our 5 year old twin boys. And Novotel did not disappoint. Even though the hotel has been around for quite sometime they did a good job in maintaining their public facilities. The children's activity center is very nice and clean, they divide the center into two areas for older and younger children. They even have a nursery for babies! We stayed there for three nights from Friday to Monday in September 2013 and stayed in one of their suite so the room was quite nice. The food there was so so, nothing to rave about. On the first night I took my twins to the buffet dinner which was a Thai Buffet theme, but apparently they only had one main dish that my twins can eat. The others are too spicy. The only reason I will be back to this hotel is for the children's activity center.

Dear MofTT,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review about our resort. We are delighted to read you enjoyed our Kids World like many other guests in the hotel.

We understand that happy children have happy parents and our Kids World team is doing a great job ensuring all the kids have a blast here with us.

Our Friday authentic Thai buffet is very popular with our guests and we appreciate your feedback with regards to ensuring that less spicy options are available, I am sharing this with the team.

Once again thank you for your kind comments and we look forward to welcoming you back.

Kind Regards,

Alexander Parry
