“Great for anyone interested in the history of Thailand”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2012

Gives you a snapshot of life for the Thai royal family in the past. Nicely restored with interesting furnishings. Palace staff insist on shorts/skirts being below the knee and, for ladies also, for the shoulders to be covered. Sarongs are available if you aren't suitabley attired.

Very nice feeling walking on the palace on bare foot on the wooden floor, facing the ocean, surrounded by trees, beautiful garden.

“As if we turn back time !!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2011

The residence and its compound is truly fascinating!!! before coming here you just need to do a little homework on researching then it would help you understanding a bit background of the place...

The main resident is very large and there are many rooms for you to explore... also don't forget to visit the Royal Guard's Residence located 300 metres from it....

You can spend easily two hours walking around the area, doing cycling while enjoy the breeze of the sea.... seem as if you live in the last century of Siam... its beginning of Hua Hin....

“Worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2011

This beachside palace was in full swing in the 1920s during the Reign of King Rama VI. It is in simple teak wood and consists of long wooden covered collonades connecting various pavillions and living accomodation. Although a few rooms are furnished with antiques, to be honest, it is not particularly interesting. Nonetheless, it is evokative and you can easily imagine the place crawling with flunkies pandering to the King's whims as well of other guests such as the queen consort etc. While King Rama V had several wives and dozens of children, it is widely believed Rama VI was gay and had only one queen and one child as a result. The palace has nicely landscaped grounds and is right beside the ocean.

“Its amazing to go see as a Thai where Our Old King of Thailand Lived before”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2009

Better to go in the latter part of day about 4.30 as cooler or else bring an umbrella or strong sun block if dont like strolling around in the sun.
This is an actual Real Kings Old beachfront Palace and is a very good place for foreigners and Thai holiday makers to visit.
Its half ways between hua hin and cha-am and most foreigners dont know about it so its not busy but its easy to go to on bike or car about 12 km from hua hin and cha-am.
As Thais We Love our King because he is the oldest reigning monarch in the world and has being King for over 60 years and is a very good person putting his people before himself very very unlike say a politican who just just want make money while they in power. Our King has spent his life building resavoirs irrigation systems etc and doing everything to help as many Thais as he can to have a better easier life. He is as buddists go a very selfless buddist and You will see We Love the King signs everywhere because We Really Do and always wish Him Well .
