“Tiger Zoo”

I cannot believe that smart /intelligent people go to these places..It truly disgusts me that people still pay money to go to these places and endorse and perpetuate the cruel treatment of these animals. By paying your tourist dollars this indicates that there is a demand for this type of tourism and therefore the poor animals have no chance at ever having a decent life. I recommend anyone who would like to do ANY kind of animal activities/attractions in any part of Asia to really research that it is a legitimate place where they genuinely care about the animals like the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai.

“Terrible Cruelty”

If you are visiting this 'attraction' because of your love of animals please think again, the enclosures are cramped and baron and contain no environmental enrichment, almost all the animals display obvious signs of distress, pacing, repeated head-bobbing and self mutilation, they also seem to mix different species in single compounds, dogs with tigers, and even pigs with tigers, natural predators and prey, under some confused ideology that 'we can all get along'. It was an incredibly sad experience and i was left quite shocked, my girlfriend was in pieces. The only positive i have taken from the trip was that i have alerted various charities which hopefully will have it closed down. My advice if you like animals do not visit this place.

“Horrible treatment of animals! Depressing experence”

I struggle to find anything complementary to say about this place. Animals kept in small concrete enclosures and the state of them is something to be seen or smelted. I don't think some of them had been cleaned out in a long while.

Tigers in the show did not look happy , the performers/trainers carried a thin metal rod and would hit the tigers to encourage them to do as they were trained. A few time during the show a tiger would take a swipe at the trainer. This is animal exploitation at its worst.

The pool where the crocodiles we kept looked like a child's pool at a resort small shallow stark pained concrete. Not even an attempt at a natural enclosure. The shows 'highlight' is a man holding open a crocs moth and punting his head inside the mouth. The crocs were dragged around buy there tails through out the show.

I hope no one make the mistake I did and go to this zoo.

“Tiger cruelty they werent happy!!”

Visited 31 January 2010 I wasnt pleased to see performing tigers, caged up tigers and bad tempered tigers that were fighting with each other because they werent being fed.
These beautiful creatures deserve to be in more natural surrounds with more space and not in a little cages and circus performers.
The pig racing was poor and performing crocadiles not good. The only redeeming feature was the very clever elephants and the elephant show.
If your near Bangkok I would recommend the Bangkok crocadile zoo much superior to the tiger zoo

“Animal Cruelty?”

We wanted to go to the Tiger temple but the reviws put us off so the tour company suggested the Tiger Zoo. As others have already mentioned the fact that they put piglets in to be fed by tigers and tigers cubs in with sows, it is very un-natural. Our guide seemed to relish in how funny things seemed to look. The Tiger show is where they force tigers in a circus like cage to do things Tigers just don't want to do. Our guide tells us that the Tiger is a solitary creature and they have to train them to lie together. It was like a flashback to the circuses of old that have been all but outlawed. There are crocodiled that performers put their heads into their mouths, These are the most docile creatures I have ever seen, certainly not wanting to run after or chase handlers to the point that you could think they are drugged. It's unfortunate when you visit a place like this and you come away feeling sorry for the animals.
I guess the lure for us was to hold and feed a Tiger cub. This we got to do for about 30 seconds for the photo. When we went back to the cub it was in a cage with only enough room for it to walk around in a tight circle.
I think the saddest creatures of all were the 2 Orangatans that are dressed in clothing and sit with tourists for photo's. It was obvious they didn't want to be there even though they were made to smile on command.
There are so many wonderful things to do in Thailand that don't involve animals. I urge you to choose these or give what would have been the entrance fee to an animal welfare group.
