Booked online with latestay.com whilst in Patong, Thailand. Arrived at 6.15pm Friday 29th. Feb. 2008 as planned armed with printed fully paid voucher. That was the start of the problems. Hotel staff did not understannd that the room booked was fully paid, (1100THB) per night for five nights plus 100THB booking fee. Having sorted that out (I thought) I then arranged for a second room for my nephew who was travelling with me.
Could not book second room on latestay.com. Second room cost slightly more than online price but that was not an issue for us.
Now the Voucher issue raises it's ugly head again! The Reception staff (2) tried to bill me for both rooms. Finally got it sorted - again and were shown to our rooms.
Shock and horror. Both rooms were musty smelling but to be fair the bedlinen was spotless and newly changed. Window drapes were ragged, some hooks missing and would not close properly. Rubber seal on fridge door had not been cleaned in months!! Interior of wardrobe/closet had damp, mouldy flaking paint. Bathroom/Toilet was showing it's age! Floor drain filthy and rust stained. No hot water. Toilet dirty, bath badly water stained and chippd. Bath handles missing on both sides.
In brief a total disaster.
Went to reception and politely asked for a better room to be informed it would not be possible till Sunday. Fine by me. I could live with that for two nights.
Sunday - asked and got my upgraded room. Did have hot water, remote for TV, cleaner fridge( kinda!) cleaner toilet but overall the room needed serious maintenance!
Paid 1600THB for three nights on top of the five nights already paid for the first room.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It's filthy overall and the staff are far from helpful. I will be writing to TAT and latestay.com to complain about the matter which is a pity because this establishment does nothing whatsoever for tourism in Thailand.
Checking out, late and paid for proved to be a major hassle. Even when the Manager (ess) was called I got absolutely no satisfaction whatsoever and paid the requested 1200THB eventually having given up trying to make my case.
It was the easy way out and we were running late and our taxi driver was (rightly) getting impatient.
I actually felt threatened by the presence of the security guard who kept hovering about whilst I tried to sort things out. During all of this checkout process my newpew was outside and commenetd later that the security guy came out and noted down the registration of our taxi which was taking us to the airport.
Despite all of the above we had a wonderful holiday and I look forward to returning again in September.
I will not be staying at the White House, Chon Buri nor could I recommend it to anyone at any price!!
