“Good Clean Room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2010

I staid in the opey de place from the 9 Apr till the 28 Apr,with my Thai wife and daughter age 5.price 950 bht per night.
We had the Jr suite which has two rooms, and is was very big and cleaned every day in the room there was a microwave and plates kfs etc.0ne air con in each room and one TV in each room
The room was very quiet no noise from out side, our air con broke down one night, they put us in another room for the night and fixed it. the next day.
The staff are helpful and will help you out if they can.

I cannot fault the quality of this hotel for the price! Great little rooms, or large roms if you pay a bit extra, lovely little pool, great little restaurant and bar, free internet and WIFI and right in the hub of the Diana area :) PERFECT.

I stayed at this hotel many times before but was horrified on my last visit. The place seems to have no management at all. We spotted small cockroaches on the bed on arrival (small ones...the ones that go in your ear) and I then sprayed the room, which was to show the real magnitude of the problem. The house keeping staff were well aware of the problem.
The restaurant of course I avoided. The rooms are very basic and have had no attention since the place was built. There are no in-room safes either. The location is OK if you know Pattaya. I checked out after paying for the first night on arrival. There used to be a problem getting a room here, but although the other places are pretty full all around, the Opey De Place has rooms available. There is a reason for that! It is just not getting repeat customers. There is no excuse for an infestation of cockroaches. There are plenty of specialist companies who would be only happy to eradicate this problem. There seems to a total lack of any interest in the hotel and this is just one result. Avoid!

Stayed here in March 2009 when they messed up my reservation for a pool view by allocating a room with a door that opened onto a corridor overlooking the pool. I optioned to upgrade to a suite for minimal extra cost. Happy enough (not the best but the price was ok for the season) so I booked the suite again on my return to UK for a September 2009 trip (all confirmd by the hotel). Arrived after a 30+hour journey to be told that they'd given my room to a tourist who'd arrived earlier that day & may or may not stay more than one night. Offered me an inferior room overlooking the road not the pool & refused to move the occupant of my reservation the next day. As usual it's pointless to argue with a Thai as the fault lies always with someone who's not present/ cannot be contacted. I checked out after one night & moved to a nearby hotel with better facilities & more helpful staff. This place is cheap & it shows.

I stayed at Opey de Place and it was the first time I had opted for a more 'budget' hotel, having previously experienced the delights of the Amari Orchid resort, The Royal Cliff Beach Resort and The Montien. (These trips were with girlfriends and naturally you wanna bit more class and comfort)! It's very much a case of you get what you pay for, with these hotels being between 5 and 10 times the price of The Opey de Place. The hotel frontage is quite nice (even fresh looking), the poolside area small, but not bad, but I'm afraid the rooms were very tired. The bathrooms in particular were a major disappointment. Basic in the extreme. Good value for money, good central location in Soi Bakaou and perfectly functional if it's a lads holiday, where you have other things to spend your money on. I would certainly never take my wife or partner to stay there and there is certainly better 'budget' hotels available in Pattaya. It is perfectly adequate though, if you just need somewhere ok to put the head down at night and there is no problem taking guests back.

I stayed at Opey De Place in Oct 2008. *I was really taken by this place! This is a higher standard of budget hotel. If you are a sun lover like me… the sun shines on the pool area at about 10:15 A.M. and stays all day. NOTE: The pool pictures don't look sunny because they were taken at 7 A.M. as I was leaving.

Rooms are huge and cleaned daily. Fridge and TV with selection of English channels on the TV. *No noisy bars to keep you awake at night. There are 5 floors. I stayed on the 5th floor, standard room. 700 Baht (I think) for walk in rate. No need for a pool side room. There’s a lift.

I did a walk in without a reservation and I don’t advise doing this, even in Oct. I originally wanted Intown Holiday Hotel but it was full. This was my 2nd choice and I was sweating bullets, keeping my fingers crossed. *This would now be my first choice.

No need to pay a song tao to go to Jomtien Beach as nobody goes to dirty Pattaya Beach. The pool here is lovely. The hotel has a restaurant but I didn’t eat here. Reception arranged for a taxi one day prior to leaving for 1000 Baht. NOTE: The new taxi rate to Bangkok is 1500 if you don’t prearrange a taxi through your hotel.

NOTE: The safety box closes at 10 P.M. The safety boxes are in a room (behind the reception) that takes a special key to open. You have the key. There is a deposit for the key. Do take a pad lock for your safety box/locker inside this room. Well managed and secure.

The hotel has an Internet with 2 computers FREE! I used it, worked fine. (But log in early as there are only 2.) Fast check out. This place was a contradiction of what I’ve previously found in Pattaya. *This is the only place in Pattaya where I found friendly staff. It was refreshing.

The location is very central and perfect. The hotel is right at the beginning of soi Lengkee, next to a 7/11 store. Soi Buakao is a hop, skip and a jump as soi Lengkee is attached to it.. Only a short walk to Pattaya 1 road. Soi Lengee becomes soi Diana (across the street.) It’s an ideal location. This soi is cheaper than Pattaya 1 and 2 Road and the beauty is it isn’t too far. It’s a very clean soi, well lit up at night. NOTE: Pattaya 3 road is w-a-y too far away.

Can walk everywhere from Opey’s. There are ATM machines on Pattaya 2 Road and at the entrance to Mike’s Mall. Don’t forget to look at Artist’s Row attached to Mike’s Mall (on the right side.) From Opey's you can walk to Mike’s Mall to shop. There is an awesome cosmetic tattoo shop on soi Diana (for having eyebrows tattooed only 500 Baht $15.US depending on the artist.) Tattoo shop is only one block towards the beach (…with back to hotel, turn left.)

I have walked to walking street from Opey’s but only once, as it’s really more suited for bars lovers rather than anything cultural. (That’s the main attraction here with different options, if you know what I mean.)

*If you like the Blues, oddly enough, there's a blues bar on walking street where a Western girlfriend or wife can feel comfortable. (“Blues Factory” –1/4 mile down walking street on the left. *Good musicians too. Watch for the sign up high, on the left.) The entrance is inside another bar. It’s not your typical open air bar. It’s done up very nice too.

  • Liked — The sunny pool, friendly staff and location
  • Disliked — Safety box closing at 10 P.M. and only 2 computers
