“Lovely resort, lovely poeple!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2010

We just spent a week at the Haadson, and very much enjoyed it! The resort is set in a lovely garden setting. We stayed in a Lakeside Villa. The bungalows are simply & elegantly decorated, and comfortable. We liked the little balcony/terrace overlooking the lagoon; a very peaceful place to sit. The bathrooms are very large, the shower good (really hot water & good waterpressure). Maybe the one thing I missed in the rooms is a set of drawers, for extra storage, but we were travelling with a baby and had a lot of stuff.
The staff is perhaps the most friendly I have ever encountered at a resort or hotel, and in a very sincere way. They were so lovely with our baby! The manager even gave us a laminated picture of our son the last evening. The (Thai) owners are very kind as well and really care about their resort and guests.
The ocean is just across the (narrow) street. There is not much traffic there at all, the surroundings are very quiet. Most of the time all we heard were birds and waves. The beach is mostly deserted. It's perhaps not the ideal beach with very small children, because you can't really sit and play in the surf, because of the shells, but you can sit in the sand higher up. There are hotel sunbeds on the beach. The pool area is also nice (like you can see on the website).
The restaurant and bar are good. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner there most nights and all the food was good. Their seafood-selection good be larger (there was white snapper most nights), but there weren't many guests, so I guess that could be a reason. There are also a few local restaurants next door and one larger outdoor restaurant a 5/10 minute walk away that was nice (fresh seafood and (partly) on the beach). There is nothing else at all within walking distance, so if you're looking for a night-life, maybe this is not the place for you.
The spa is actually quite luxurious and they have an extensive spa-menu, with massages, facials, body scrubs, etc..
Khao Lak itself is a 15 minute drive away. There is a free shuttle every day, that leaves at 2 and comes back at 4.30. Otherwise it's 400THB into town. You can easily take a taxi back.
For the divers: I went on 2 great dive-trips (Similans and Richelieu Rock) with Deep Blue. They pick you up at the hotel, and they leave from a pier nearby, so it's actually quite convenient.
All in all, a very relaxed experienced and just what we needed to end our holiday. We would love to go back some day!

Went to Haadson resort for new years 2010 and loved the experience. Great hotel situated in quiet area perfect for a relaxing getaway. The rooms were very nice and clean especially the open roof bathroom. The service was extremely friendly and most of the staff were able to speak english. The food was also quite nice serving both thai and western dishes. Actual New years night was entertaining with seafood buffet, songs and dances by the staff and a northern thai style lighting of floating lanterns.
Overall the whole trip to Haadson resort was a pleasant experience and i am looking forward to spending this new years there again.

Beautiful resort, very friendly staff and great services.
We had our own transport and some of the local beaches are truly tropical paradise.
If you are looking for a quiet spot away from the bars, trinket shops and massage parlors that blight much of the coast this is the place to stay.

We stayed at Haadson as part of our honeymoon and really loved the hotel. Management team and staff were very friendly and made such a big effort, especially at the new years eve dinner. Rooms were very nice, swimming pool lovely, with the whole hotel in a beautiful setting, one downside the beach is across the road, not a massive problem but one I think worth pointing out. Food wise, not a huge selection but well very nicely cooked and good value. Overall we would definitely recommend the hotel due to the value for money and great staff.

Loved it!
Perfect setting to get away with your spouse and have some beautiful beaches and quiet bungalows all to your selves. We went to the beach every day and sometimes could walk a mile in the white sands without seeing another person. The bungalows were so tranquil and relaxing and we were sad that we even had to leave to head back to Phuket. While we were here we ate all of our meals at the restaurant at the resort and liked all of the selections we chose. Can't wait to come back and stay here again some day!

We chose The Haadson Resort for the third leg of our recent visit to Thailand. This was the fourth time we had stayed there, so were keen to see the new spa facilities and the changes brought in by the new General Manager.
The Haadson Resort is a good 3 1/2 star rated hotel located on one of Khaolak's best and unspoilt beaches. It has a total of 39 rooms. The Coconut Rooms are in two storey blocks (4 to a block) The Island and lakeside villas are individual rooms with either an outside shower or bath. All the rooms are decorated in an unpretentious Thai style, with a very natural feel (no dazzling white plastic). Our room (201) was chosen due to its outlook and the evening sun on the balcony. The hotels gardens are a nice mixture of both manicured and natural areas and there are now two hammocks located within the gardens. They are a tribute to the two staff who maintain them. The pool is a good size with a depth of 0.6M to 2M, so suitable for all ages with plenty of loungers and umbrellas plus some shade from the surrounding trees. The hotel serves food and drink at both the Terrace Bar and Petite Bar (next to the pool). The prices being very reasonable. The hotel has a small library with internet access (PCs and wireless) although this is chargeable. A small range of souvenirs are also available. The hotel now has a spa, managed by "The Royal Spa" of Phuket and offers a wide range of treatments in the new rooms. The showers in the spa rooms are particularly nice. The hotel is located north of Khaolak centre (about 15km) so runs a complimentary shuttle bus at 14:00, returning at 16:30, which is ideal for shopping. For travel at other times, this can be arranged by the lobby staff. We found all the staff both helpful and efficient and had no language problems. A point to note is that previous references to damp smells in the rooms have been fully addressed under the regime of the new GM! Other improvements are the nice lighting in The Terrace Bar, making it particularly nice for an evening cocktail or meal. Being north of Khaolak centre makes the Haadson ideally placed to visit locations like Takuapa and Khao Sok in addition to the more tourist areas of Bang Niang and Bang La On.
With sincere thanks to the Management and Staff.
We look forward to our next visit!

Haadson Resort near Khao Lak is – simply stated – a charming and wonderful place. If you are looking for peace in your life, a great white sand but quiet beach, clean and charming bungalows, great thai food, sunning yourself beside a clear fresh water pool, a fantastic massage at the on-site spa and attention from a delightful, caring staff, then this is the place for you. Yes, it is a bit more than an hour drive north of the Phuket airport but worth every minute of that drive. But if you are looking for discos, crowded beaches, heavy noisy traffic, shopping malls and zillions of restaraunts then don’t go to the Haadson Resort. We recommend the upgrade to a bungalow as worth the difference.
