“Perfect honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2010

This was our second time at the Haadson, we got engaged there last year and had the second week of our honeymoon there this year. We love this resort, it is just so relaxing and peaceful and the staff just can't do enough to make your stay perfect.

The villas are quite simply furnished but have all of the things you need including a nice balcony that looked out across the lake. We also had an outdoor bath.

The hotel found out it was our honeymoon and arranged a romantic table on the beach for us, we also received a complimentary upgrade to a lakeside villa. We also had a romantic meal at a private sala for valentines day.

The beach at the Haadson is also amazing, it is so secluded and you can walk for miles in both directions and not see anyone. It is truly the perfect place to go if you want to just unwind, relax and forget about work. The hotel now has a spa and we enjoyed 2 treatments whilst we were there. It is definitely the staff at the hotel that make you want to back again and again, I would not be surprised if we go back again next year for the third time!

The resort is extremely green, stylish and secluded -> ideal if you want to relax and have the whole beach for you alone. Restaurant is so-so, but the people are all very nice.

very beautiful quiet hotel, totally unassuming and thankfully free of almost all the holiday hype one might find in typical resort hotels. Charming management, nice helpful staff, good service, nice rooms, reasonable food. Markets and sites can be reached by rental car easily booked through the hotel. Beach is huge and nearly empty. great for couples and small families.

We stayed 8 nights at the Haadson in January and we loved it! Very nice place to come to after a long trip from Sweden. We stayed in one of the Island villas and they were really nice with lovely bathroom with outdoor shower. Nice view over the lake. The beds were hard, but we asked for an extra mattress and there were no problem to get that and after that we slept like king and queen. The emerald green pool were very quiet and had really nice and refreshing water. Very good to spend afternoons there with the kids since you could find some shade also in the pool. Even our 5 month old baby could take a dip!
The beach is absolutely beautiful and not a single person as far as the eye could see!
Restaurant is ok but a bit expensive compared to the other thai restaurants nearby. The staff is great though and very nice with kids. You can find very good and cheap food at the small restaurants close to the resort.
The free shuttle bus is good if you want to have a break and do some shopping in Khao Lak.
We want to go back to this hidden gem, we loved our stay here and can highly recommend it to those who want some peace and quiet.

We like this place, it just became better and better during our one week stay. In some metropolitan hotels you get very impressed by the lobby then everything goes downhill during your stay, this stay was quite the opposite. We arrived 2 January to a rainy Phuket, pick up worked perfect. When we arrived to Haadson the street was packed with cars and lot of people having a barbeque on the beach, leaving lot of litter. We were shown to our rooms (one Island cottage (108) and one Coconut Grove (312)) the Cottage felt dark and first impression was more of motel room then a resort. The resort was almost fully booked. We decided to have dinner at Haadson since the three next door Thai local restaurants were sold out. There is one more within walking distance if you turn left from resort, four all in all. Not Seven-eleven or any other convenience store within walking distance.

Weather was, as mentioned earlier, not that good at least one or two hour of rain each day. When it rains the nearby restaurants closes. Not a problem, but after a week you kind of know the menu of the resort by heart. On Monday the place was completely deserted, meaning that the few guests had both the resort and the entire beach to ourselves, wonderful. Over the following week we realized how well run this place is. Everything from Garden to Restaurant was perfect. It is isolated but if you use the complimentary daily shuttle to Khao Lak it works good. It also looked like the resort bought two bicycles which will be good if you want to explore the neighborhood. If one would like to be negative one could mention that internet is free. Housekeeping is outstanding.

This concludes one of the best weeks we have had in Thailand and recommends Haadson to everyone.

Lovely out of town hotel, across a small local road from a nice beach, lovely pool, very helpful and friendly staff. Once a day shuttle bus into Khao Lak town which is about 20 mins away. We weren’t keen on the hotel food but there’s three local restaurants just next door (we went to the second ''Bangsak Garden' which was great and half the price of the hotel). The hotel charges for the internet which is a bit tight considering the cost of the room and the fact there’s no alternative in the area, and we had requested a move to a room with a bath which didn’t materialise over the 6 x nights we were there, even though it seemed to empty out.

The main issue though was the 6 night minimum stay over the New Year period and the compulsory New Years’ dinner for which they charged the equivalent of around GBP £80 per head - over 10x the cost of a standard meal in Thailand. We normally avoid these kinds of events but had no choice so for the price, we expected something quite special. Instead what we got was a mediocre buffet (including just 2 glasses of beer and soft drinks but EXcluding water), the staff singing Thai karaoke, some local college students Thai dancing and the assistant manager doing a brief drag act. We tried our hardest to make the best of it but what little party atmosphere had been mustered died at 2315 when they announced the ‘entertainment’ was finished but we could sit in silence at our tables for 45 minutes and wait for midnight. All in all a very expensive and very damp squib.

Thank you to TripAdvisor member “ZCKH” for providing the above comments & review of Haadson.

First off, we are very sorry that our clients did not enjoy the New Year dinner. This was our 4th NY party, and we do try very hard to keep the whole NY party theme in line with the friendly & laid back atmosphere of the resort. Unfortunately, we have received some negative feedback from a few of our guest – this client included,
but we have also received some excellent feedback from other clients.
Yes, the on-stage entertainment ended earlier than midnight, but various guest enjoyed dancing till very close to the midnight countdown, and even after the release of lanterns on the beach, more clients came back to the restaurant & enjoyed additional beverages. As mentioned earlier, there were varying reviews to the success of the NY party, but we will of course take all the negative comments into consideration when we plan our next NY party.

The clients stayed with us for 6Nights during the peak season from the 27Dec2009 to 02Jan.2010
Yes, the clients requested a Villa with an external bath, but when they made their booking inquiry on 17th Nov – all the 9 Villas with the external bathtub had been reserved. Our Reservation staff kindly informed the clients in their email correspondences that they would receive a Villa with an outdoor shower, and again in their final booking confirmation.
During the client’s stay, there were certain nights that one or two of the nine Villas were available, but not for the duration of their stay – meaning that they would have to move back & forth every night, which is not a procedure that management would subject onto our guest.
We are sorry that the clients did not end up receiving their choice of Villa, but for peak season stays and taking into consideration that we only have 19 Villas available, we would suggest for guest to book as early as possible.

Thankyou & Best Regards,
Management

Would back up all the other positive comments about this resort. We stayed here at the end of a 3 week trip to Thailand for 4 days, and just chilled out by the pool and walked along the beach. Room was great, breakfast was excellent, and evening meals were OK. They arranged for us to have dinner on the beach one night under the stars... a really nice touch.
Resort is beautifully kept, full of lush vegetation and little walkways to meander around.
Would say this place is great, if you are happy to get away from it all and just relax.. it is a very quiet place.
