“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2010

. A wonderful situation beside the beach. Luxury rooms. We stayed in a deluxe lanai ocean view. Rooms werer extremely well equipped. Everything was supplied in the bathrooms, shampoo, etc. and replaced daily. There was an amazing choice of food at breakfast. We enjoyed evening meals in Sassi's. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. A very relaxing place to stay.

After contemplating going to Krabi for a few days before having to return to Phuket we decided rather to go to Khao Lak (what a good decision) and managed to get into the Ramada Hotel. We stayed in the deluxe room (worth the upgrade) and spent three of the best days of our holiday in this hotel. Although a number of families visit the hotel, it is quiet and peaceful. The hotel pool is fantastic - my daughter spent all her days there. The staff were fantastic, the rooms gorgeous (outrageous baths) and the location is fantastic. Located close to the town and on the beach, it is within easy access of great beach restaurants and DONT MISS going to THE CANDLE restaurant in town. THE best Thai food we ate in Thailand.

Selected this hotel based on tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed. Stayed for 5 nights in a Lanai room. Lovely room, hotel grounds are gorgeous! We spent several evenings on our lanai with a "happy hour" cocktail (or three) and watched the sun set. Breakfast was perfect, there was plenty of range for a fairly small hotel. The pool bar was not manned often during our stay, however it was no problem to ask the Sassy's Bar staff to bring a drink to the pool deck area. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant one night, Thai buffet was great, ambience just beautiful! Probably paid twice as much as the restaurants down the street but it was nice all the same. A 200m walk south along the beach will bring you to an awesome little family run Thai restaurant. Tables and chairs in the beach sand overlooking the water.......where can you find a better place to have a couple of Singha beers and great Thai food??? Soooo cheap you will laugh at the bill, had dinner there 3 nights.

I absolutely loved Ramada. We stayed in the beach front room and it was stunning.
We had un-interrupted views of the ocean and our own deck to watch the sunset.

What I really loved about this hotel is that it is not a huge resort it is easy to get around and there aren't thousands of rooms.

The grounds were beautiful, lovely big pool, free internet and push bikes!

It is a very quite town but there are lots of different restaurants within walking distance.

I HIGHLY recommend the little beach restaurant on the beach next to the hotel. It was so cheap and the food was delicious!

The massages on the beach are great also. 500 baht for two people! Bargain.

We booked the beach villa at Ramada Khao Lak true Agoda, to get out of Bangkok and have some quiet days at the beach. I payed aprox 50.000 baht for 4 nights for the Villa in advance, and after reading the reviews at Tripadvisor we really looked forward to this stay. The disappointent was enourmous when we after a caothic arrival were told that the Villa was to small for extra bed. We travel 2 adults and 2 kids (13+7). I was amazed by this because the internet site said it was 63 m2, so I asked to see the Villa myself. When I came to the villa I saw that it was not problem to have the extra bed there, but then he changed his story and said that it was not possible due to company policy. I was suprised because we have done this at the beach villa at Ailila Cha Am, and at regular rooms at Hilton Hua Hin, Hilton Karon, Dusit Hilton, Hard Rock Pattaya and other high class hotels and it has never been a problem. The next problem was that he changed his story, and lied to me. When I asked to talk to the manager, he told me that he was in a meeting. This was lie number 3 because the next day I learned that the manager at Ramada played golf at the local golfcource after lunch every day. Not very impressiv management to leave your staff everyday to play golf!. Since I couldn't get my money back since I paid over Agoda, we had to take two regular rooms at second floor, far away from the water. Great disappointment. Every night they parked the maids trolleys on each side of our door, and we could hardly see the ocean or the pool. The standard was ok for a charter resort, but far away from 5 star standard. The restaurants around the premesis was average, and the breakfast was also average. During the breakfast they opened the doors to the garden. This made it too varm inside, an not possible to sit outside because of the smell of sewage and rotten grass. The bread was good. When we told that we wanted to check out one day early, and take the 12.000 baht loss they told us that we could't check out, because we had already paid for one more night. Amazing! We drove to Hilton Arcadia at Karon beach, and checked in the full family to a regular room without any problems.

Just returned to UK after a very relaxing 11 days at the Ramada Resort. Everything was perfect, no otherway to describe the excellent hospitality, Food and service throughout our stay. Thanks to all the Ramada Team, in particular to chef Nit whose food was especially exquisite for New Years party and cooking course the very best.
We were a party of 5 using three rooms, 2 ocean view, 1 delux ocean view. The only difference being the delux version has is on the ground floor and has an extended balcony with sun loungers. The rooms are well appointed and had everything we needed during our stay. The wooden tubs instead of bath tubs raised an eyebrow, but as we all used the excellent rainforest showers these were not an issue.
This is a compact resort and even when full at New Year, never gave us a crowded feeling. The pool is very large, fresh water, clean and well maintained.
The beach is white sand plus warm sea and offers excellent walking in both directions, it is possible to walk right to the tip of the bay area on either side of the resort. There are a number of local restaurants and inevitable tourist shops within easy walking distance from the resort.
We rented a car from Phuket airport and found the drive to Khao Lak easy. We used the car during the time at the Ramada to visit a number of local temples, waterfalls, Elephant sanctuaries and Sunami memorials/Parks. The terain inland from the resort quickly turns into dense forest and excellent walking territory if you can stand the heatand humidity!
The resort food was very good and Chef Nit runs Thai Cooking lessons (highly recommended) for those who want to learn the art of 'hot' cooking. The new years party was excellent, an amazing array of foods from Chef Nit, 'interesting' local entertainment from Jackie Chan and company plus a 'Magical' welcome to the New Year on the beach with fireworks and balloon lanterns. Our best vacation yet!

Thanks to the Ramada Team, we certainly hope to return soon, the Fords.

This hotel is average at best. The staff are lovely and really do try but clearly things are lacking. Very few speak good enough English to be of use. Even those at the front desk are not well versed in English or service. The front desk are not helpful at all. When asked for a restaurant recommendation outside the hotel, I was told that they are not allowed to sent people anywhere but the hotel restaurant. The location is beautiful. The hotel does not have a poolside towel service so wet sandy towels have to be brought into the clean rooms or hung over balconies (makes the hotel look cheap). The kids club is a room with a couple or broken toys, and the staff has only 1 activity for children to do. If you advertise a kids club there needs to be more going on. The rooms are average, small with cheap furnishings. The cheap plastic shower curtain in an otherwise modern bathroom says it all. Nothing special here. Our room was next to a sewage tank of some sort and during the day our terrace spelled terrible. We pointed this out to staff and they acted as if we were crazy. It is a lovely hotel but certainly not a 4 star property and not worth the price.
