“INCREDIBLE HOLIDAYS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2009

I went with my wife to the Ramada Hotel and we spent 4 amazing nights in a Villa front ocean room. I booked the room over the phone and advised that we were in honeymoon. They prepared a special decoration for us and and offered a sparkling wine bottle. The personnel and the service were incredible.
The hotel is very calm and the beach very nice. There is big swimming pool and a small fitness room.
The food was really good (we took a full package including breakfast, lunch and dinner).
We will keep a really good souvenir from our stay there and fore sure if we come back to Kao Lak, it will be there.
Thank you to all the Ramada Kao Lak Team.
ps: every evening, the personnal organizes a beach volley party and it is very funny:)

It was a standard resort that you would find anywhere in the world - did not feel Thai to us and we like to experience the country we are in however if you just plan to lie by the pool and tan this is a good option. If this is what you are after we can not fault it. The restaurant was pricey but the food good - lots of options not too far away though.

We stayed in Khao Lak Ramada for 10 days in November & travelled there from the 5 star Amari Vogue in Krabi (amazing by the way) which is probably why we were disappointed by the Ramda. Especially as on our last day in Khao Lak we spent it at the Le Meriden and realised our mistake of choice. That is not to say that it was terrible, as it was a very pleasant stay all the same. Ramada has a good set up and friendly staff (English is hit & miss though so if you are not a relaxed traveller this is not the place for you; especially if you need to order room service). As we had a child the staff were very attentive to her needs and she entertained them as much as they did her. The beach the hotel sits in front of is average at best and the entry into the sea is a difficult and sudden drop off – be warned. Better to take a taxi to White Sands for 300 baht one way as it is exactly as it reads and is where the true 5 star hotels are situated. Ramada is in a good location for short walk to local eateries and shops 10 mins max. Better still take a taxi to the town & you must eat in the Busaba Thai restaurant as it is some of the best food we had in Thailand with excellent service and staff in a semi open air setting. There is a boutique fashion shop with original Thai designs run by the friendly Na that the ladies will want to shop in as the fashion is right on the wave of current trends. Ramada spa was not very good and the Blue rated Spa in La Flora next door is the place to spend your money and is worth every baht as there are only 450 Spa’s in the world with the same rating or higher! A real find. The local massages are good too, yet not in a setting with the latest technologies; yet my wife assure me that the parlour next to Busaba Thai was the best in the town. We never took an evening in at the Ramada, or even a lunch as we just wanted to get to a more beautiful and relaxing setting. If you go there you may, or may not agree. We choose it because it was no1 on Trip adviser and we have learnt our lesson.

We stayed here in Late July and August and absolutely loved it. It is a quiet time of year in Khao Lak which was fine as we felt we had our own private beach. We were never harassed as their were no touts on the beach. The ladies operating the massage huts on the beach offered great massages to relax tired muscles. The spa at the resort was a real treat. Gink, the spa manager, was very friendly and we all enjoyed her traditional thai massage - even my 6 year old son!

We were at the Ramada for my son's 6th birthday and the staff really helped make it a special day. The head chef, Nit, made a special cake for my son.

We left the resort for a week and went to Ko Samui, when we came back they made us feel like family and decorated our bed with flowers in the shape of a heard and a towel in the shape of an elephant head - very welcoming.

The breakfast buffet was delicous and a great way to start the day. My boys enjoyed walking around the resort grounds and looking at the frogs, birds and lizards.

Definately worth trying!

This was our first trip to Thailand and we used TripAdvisor to identify this great hotel. We went in October and the first week experienced a number of heavy storms, but as we were located in block one we were able to go to breakfast without getting wet. We had a Deluxe room on the top floor and had a wonderful view of the Andaman Sea, across the grounds and pool to the beach.
The staff at this hotel were superb, as previously stated the breakfasts were great, something for everybody, where ever you came from. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel a number of evenings and the food was very good and located on the edge of the beach, with a wonderful view of the ocean.
The hotel is located within a ten minute walk of some good restaurants the best of which is 'The Candle' in two weeks we ate here five times, the food and service are great. On our third visit to The Candle, when paying our bill I inadvertantly overpaid by 500Baht ( one bill stuck to the other). When we returned to the restaurant two days later, we were greeted by the waitress and owner who made us aware of my error and returned the 500Baht note. Wonderful, honest people.
The Green Pepper also served good food, but we prefered the air conditioned environment at The Candle.
The Indian Restaurant, just outside the hotel also served good food, and the owner is a keen cricket fan.
Whilst at the Hotel we were invited by the staff to accompany them to a Mangrove planting project which they actively supported, unfortunately due the rainfall during our first week, the trip had to be cancelled due to flooding. The second week they invited us to a Turtle hatchery project which is supported by the Thai government at a nearby Naval Base. The eggs are collected on Similan Island hatched and grown at the hatchery and then returned to Similan Island when they are large enough to survive.
My Wife & I have travelled extensively, but would have no hesitation in returning to this resort, and have no hesitation in recommending this resort to you.

It is hard to believe that Ramada Khao Lak is actually part of the same hotel chain with locations in the UK, for example. I had my hesitations due to UK experiences but since the tripadvisor reviews of the Khao Lak hotel have been upbeat decided to go and book us there. I obviously made the right choice:
-booking through web with enquiries that were readily answered
-airport pick up there bang on time
-check-in relaxed but efficient
-Layana deluxe room (2105) excellent with a sundeck and direct access to pool or sea.
-The room was spotless and decorated with a good modern taste.
-Through the day relaxing thai music playing in the background at the general facilities
-Wonderful Bang Biang beach right in front of hotel
-Good beach restaurant a 50 m walk south by the beach for lunch, snack and singha.
-good restaurant Chong Fah further up on the beach with reasonable dinner prices.
-Fabulous the Candle restaurant in the neighborhood.
-Everything was working perfectly with the only exception of a poor tv signal reception at our room.

We stayed for six nights at the Ramada in a deluxe lanai room, which was well worth paying the upgrade for. We had originally wanted one of the ocean view villas, but there were none available, but the room worked out perfectly, being right next to the pool. Because the hotel is small (compared to the large beach resorts in Europe) everything was very convenient, and we enjoyed how relaxed, quiet and peaceful the resort was. It certainly isn’t the place to go for crazy nightlife, but as most of our fellow holidaymakers were families and couples, that was ideal. The breakfast was great, wide selection, good quality and not rushed, and the hotel restaurant was nice if you couldn’t be bothered going into the local town. Saying that, it was only five minutes walk to a good selection of restaurants, and we particularly liked the Candle and Hilltribes (a bit longer walk down the main road, past the 7Eleven, but well worth it!) We had planned on doing a number of trips when we were there, but the pool area was so nice, and it was so quiet and relaxing we ended up just chilling out and relaxing, making the most of the convenience of having sun beds on our own private terrace! We also had a massage at the Spa, which was an experience, but well worth trying - just be prepared to loose those British inhibitions a little!
