“Fantastic honeymoon resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2011

We stayed at the Ramada Khao Lak for five nights following an exhausting tour in Europe. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the stay, from the very warm greeting upon arrival to the fully prepared room as part of the honeymoon package. The pool villa was beautifully appointed and modern, and the private pool a very decent size.

As it was our honeymoon, most of the time was spent at the resort, including meals and drinks, which whilst not cheap compared to the local area - was well worth the money (and still very cheap comparitive to Australian resorts). Spa treatments were also wonderful, and we went back for more than one. Staff were very capable and spoke English well. We also enjoyed trekking with elephants, a short 20 minute drive from the hotel.

We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Pool villa is well worth it!

On balance a lovely resort, and very picturesque place to stay. Very popular with Germans. Predominantly couples, but a few families with young children. Quite area. Plenty of loungers and reserving them is 'strictly prohibited'. However the hotel was not fully booked during our stay.

The resort is on a lovely stretch of beach in Bang Niang. A reasonable selection of local restaurants and beach cafés within a short walk, and 3km from Nang Thong, which is often referred to as Khao Lak centre. Nang Thong has a longer strip of bars, shops and restaurants.

Transfer arranged by the hotel was expensive B1700. We arranged transfer back to Phuket locally for B1000. In-house arranged tours, activities and spa treatments on the pricey side, and plenty of other places locally worth investigating first before handing over your money, or researching online before you go. The hotel puts on some free activities during the day such as kickboxing, yoga, volleyball etc. The gym is small with few machines, not suitable for a serious workout. Unless you spend the money for a tour there is not much to really see or do within walking distance.

The police boat washed inland by the Tsunami is only 15/20 mins walk near the turnoff from the main road to the hotel and not worth paying to be taken there (I saw some tours advertised).

Despite what the website says, there is no decent place for watersports anywhere along Nang Thong beach and I saw nothing advertised anywhere in the whole of Khao Lak. There was a few guys with a stand between Ramada and La Flora resorts with 2 windsurfboards and 1 rig for hire. No motorised watersports. They did offer a small Catamaran for hire or trips (similar to Dart 16).

Service was excellent. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Good standard of English.

Food/Drink: Wide selection for breakfast buffet accommodating most tastes - fruit/yoghurt/breads/pastries/meat/cheese/pancakes/eggs cooked to order/cooked options/asian foods. Single menu for restaurants/bar area for lunch and dinner each day, with additional themed buffet most evenings - Italian/Japanese/Thai. Prices for food reasonable by European standards but 30-50% more expensive than other local places which we found to be generally good.

Soft drinks are very expensive. Cans B80 (£1.60). Especially galling as half the price at the beach front cafés 50m away. Drinking water almost as expensive in the bar/restaurant. Difficult to understand as they provide at least 2 bottles free in the room per day. We normally received 4 per day as the morning ones were replaced by the staff when they came to turn down the bed in the evening.

Room was great. We were not disappointed with our standard room. Very large bed 2x2m and very comfortable with pillow menu too. Large bathroom with wetroom style shower and large granite-style bath. My only niggle was that there was no functionning thermostat on the air-con so we were frequently freezing by the mornings!

Plugs will take European 3 pin or US type 2 pin (but not UK type 3 pin). Free wifi as expected these days, with good coverage in room and around the pool area. (Free wifi also available at many of the local bars and restaurants.)

Package hotel on nice streach of beach. Overall nice facilities and service as ekspected . We had a great low season offer on a beach villa trough their own wepsite. The area has a very high pricelevel compare to other thai destinations. Would not go back if it wasent for the excellent diving in the area.
Nice beach , quit location and wonderful food.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice , you get what you pay for.

We spent seven nights at the Khao Lak Ramada Resort, it was a wonderful experience. We spent many days in the pool slipping cocktails and relaxing by the beach. The staff were extremely friendly, the accomodation clean and well presented and the facilities were fantastic. Khao Lak was a beautiful place to stay and I would recommend the Ramanda Resort at Khao Lak to anyone who is planning a trip to Thailand.

We have stayed at this stunning resort for 10 days . The room, the service, the food, the entire staff were fantastic and we have never experienced such a warm atmosphere in a hotel before.

The resort and the rooms are spotless clean and spacious with beautiful amenities set up in the room. The architecture of the resort with its Infinity Pool, lawn and Ocean view is stunning. What we liked most was the short walking distance from the room to any other location in and around the resort.

My wife and I had booked a private romantic dinner on the beach one evening and beside the beautiful decoration the food was fantastic, well presented and very tasty.

Thank you to all staffs for making our holiday a perfect one. We can highly recommend this hotel who seeks a place to relax and enjoy personalized service with International Standard and good value for money. See you next year. John & Mary,# 2102

This is a nice hotel with perfect stuff. The beach and pool are great and there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby. Perfect is the green pepper only 700 m from the hotel. The spa is nothing special and quite expensive if you compare it with the spas in the village. We had a nice excursion to Koh Sok national park. We can really recommend it

Room Tip: We had room number 1201 and we had a nice sea view room with balcony. There are no beachchairs on th...

Spent some days a the resort and would not hesitate to go back. Was there in October, even though low season, the hotel was busy.

I felt that predominately all guests were German speaking in the hotel, and the breakfast selection was tailor made for them. I am not complaining, just be aware other nationalities also stay in the hotel. All sunbeds were reserved from early morning to sunset, so could not find a single sunbed when arriving at noon.

Pool was nice, thought they were repainting the surfaces while we were there, so the paint small was strong.

Beach was nice, but waves so high and strong that you could not swim.

Staff at front office ignored us on arrival, and even though we came at 2.30 our room was not ready.

Overall a good stay and will probably return next year.
