5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for our honey moon at the end of Sept.
We had booked a 5 night stay in a deluxe room using a Scoopon.
The pampering started as soon as we arrived at the airport.
We were upgraded from our basic room to a bungalow villa with rose petals and swan towels on arrived and chocolate cake!
The pools are as good as they look in the pictures, the breakfast is fantastic, all the employees are very friendly and accommodating but the BEST part was the spa! Not as cheap as going down the road and paying 300THB but we were there to be pampered- and it still only cost us 30AU for 1hour of luxury.
As my husband describes it " Khoalak is the 'Byron Bay' of Thailand", pure resort town, supermarket and Macca's available a short walk down the road. You can buy all your souvenirs there too.
The weather was still good even though it was off peak, we had a bit of rain but it cut through the humidity but not much, the resort booked and organised all our touristy stuff- and if you're not sure what you want to do, they have a big book of options that you can choose from.
No kids under 12- we were the only Aussies there- everyone else was German couples.
Overall- if you are looking for a holiday where its all about pool, spa and food with a little sight seeing and no big families with kids running around, this is the place for you.
Remember to tip-- the staff really appreciate it and 100THB is like 4AU.
Downsides- remember to bring your aero-guard and use at all times- even at night- do not leave food or drink near your bed- you are inviting the insects to sleep with you-- it is a topical country after all-- same precautions as you would during a hot summer in Aus.
The beach is not One Mile Beach in Newcastle, but we were more interested in the spa and pool than the beach

5-star service at a 4-star hotel! We were really happy to escape to this tranquil and exceptionally well organized hotel after a long and tiring journey around Thailand. Service here is impeccable at the reception as well as at the restaurant and Spa. The beach in the front is not the nicest, but still very decent.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We stayed at the Bhandari for two weeks in Sept/Oct 2013. From the moment we arrived the calmness and friendliness of the resort was apparent.

The room itself was very large, modern and nicely decorated with wooden floor and furniture. There was a sitting area, as well as sleeping area and large and nicely decorated bathroom with a wet-room shower and full size bath. The air conditioner was powerful and able to quickly cool the room although it was somewhat noisier than other hotels I have stayed at. There was a large wardrobe but little space for unpacking two weeks worth of clothes. These were only minor issues and we were extremely pleased with the room in general.

We stayed in a Thai style chalet. Unlike the bungalows these rooms are part of a larger building with two floors and several rooms conjoined, each with its own entrance and terrace/balcony. We were slightly worried we may hear neighbouring guests but needn't have as in the two weeks we were there we didn't hear a sound!

For some reason we were allocated a twin rather than a double room but this was quickly rectified at check-in and the beds pushed together and remade for two all in about 20 minutes while we drank a complimentary juice.

The breakfast area was nicely presented with a buffet selection to please most visitors including the typical bacon, egg, sausage; continental meats, cheese & bread, American pancakes & waffles; fresh fruit; and traditional Thai options for the brave.

We didn't eat in the evenings at the hotel but prices were close to those you would expect in Europe. Drinks were also similarly priced to Europe, but cheaper for local beers.

The pool area was beautifully decorated. It is smaller than a lot of resorts but big enough for that not to matter. There was never any problem getting a sun lounger and it was always peaceful and relaxing to spend time there. The entire hotel grounds were immaculately kept with mature trees and beautiful ponds full of water lilies and frogs!

The staff at the hotel were some of the friendliest I have come across. They always seemed genuinely pleased to see us and would go out of their way to help with any questions we had. The security guard at the hotel entrance was particularly friendly. He always greeted us with a smile and enjoyed pointing out various snails, frogs and other things as we left and returned to the hotel.

As others have mentioned, the beach is not ideal for swimming due to the rocks and large waves, although it is still nice to walk along and go paddling in the ocean, and watching the sunset from the beach was amazing. It is a very short walk (less than 100m) from the hotel to the beach via a well-lit path.

One point to note is that the hotel is not situated at the place shown in Google Maps but a little further north. The hotel's website map has the correct location. The hotel is a couple of hundred meters from a main road where there are many shops, supermarkets, restaurants, massage options and even a McDonalds!

We had a fantastic stay at the Bhandari and would definitely go again. I would highly recommend it to others wishing to visit this fascinating part of Thailand.

Room Tip: Chalet rooms towards the back of the complex are more private than the bungalows although a little s...

We (us and another couple) bought a 5day package at this resort through Getaway lounge (now Luxury escapes). What an excellent idea it was. From the moment we were picked up from the airport and driven 11/4 hours to the resort to the time we left, we were treated with such warmth and respect. Our little bungalow was quite large and surrounded by well kept gardens. The only things that we could fault was the very noisy air conditioner and the rather ancient television. The pool area was always immaculate and plenty of deck chairs. As it was low season, we didn't have to fight for a chair!. Lots of Europeans visit this resort. (Didn't come across any Russians either). The pool area was so quiet and we felt totally relaxed!! We had quite a few cocktails of the day(3 for 200bt) which was excellent value! We also had lunch by the pool, great food and excellent value! Breakfast was good with quite an ample selection. The staff were always friendly. (Probably the best staff that I have come across). We had the set dinner once which was included in our package but also ate at the restaurant another two times. There are 2 menus, Italian, Thai and also included was western style food. Food was of a very high standard and excellent value. We had our complimentary foot massage in the spa which was so relaxing, however I thought the prices for spa treatments were quite expensive. We would definitely recommend this beautiful resort with its friendly and efficient staff!

The moment we arrived till the moment we left the staff had excellence service and treated us like royalty. They went out of there way to make my partner have a birthday she wouldn't forget, from cake to flowers. The service was to the standard of any 5 star resort, I would recommend to all as it was an experience that we will be doing again.

Don't expect perfect beach weather at Khao Lak, instead expect an excellent experience at this resort. The Thai Style accommodation was exceptional and very well maintained. The staff spoke excellent English and were friendly but professional. Everything is clean and close to a fantastic part of Thailand definitely worth exploring.

The only drawback were having merely two english chanels available and no dvd players to rent movies for the days where it rained hard - take your tablet as wifi is free and easily accessible (and fast).

Where the opportunity arises, I will go to this resort again.

We just came back from Khao Lak Bandhari where we spent a wonderful and peaceful time there.
The hotel is so charming with its typical bungalows surronded by green garden and nice flowers.
We were staying in the Thai Style bungalow n°111 and this one was particular nice. The size of the room was big enough with one shower inside and one outside.

People working there are so nice and gentle. Always treating you with such respect and kindness, special mention to the guy at the entrance and allow us to cross the street.

The pool is very appreciable.
However, the beach in front the hotel is not as nice as we expected, because of rocks and waves.
But rent a scooter and after 20' ride north, you will find beautiful white sand beaches.

One last thing, they should invest into english lessons for employees, sometimes it's a bit difficult to understand and be understood.
