My husband and I stayed here for our honey moon at the end of Sept.
We had booked a 5 night stay in a deluxe room using a Scoopon.
The pampering started as soon as we arrived at the airport.
We were upgraded from our basic room to a bungalow villa with rose petals and swan towels on arrived and chocolate cake!
The pools are as good as they look in the pictures, the breakfast is fantastic, all the employees are very friendly and accommodating but the BEST part was the spa! Not as cheap as going down the road and paying 300THB but we were there to be pampered- and it still only cost us 30AU for 1hour of luxury.
As my husband describes it " Khoalak is the 'Byron Bay' of Thailand", pure resort town, supermarket and Macca's available a short walk down the road. You can buy all your souvenirs there too.
The weather was still good even though it was off peak, we had a bit of rain but it cut through the humidity but not much, the resort booked and organised all our touristy stuff- and if you're not sure what you want to do, they have a big book of options that you can choose from.
No kids under 12- we were the only Aussies there- everyone else was German couples.
Overall- if you are looking for a holiday where its all about pool, spa and food with a little sight seeing and no big families with kids running around, this is the place for you.
Remember to tip-- the staff really appreciate it and 100THB is like 4AU.
Downsides- remember to bring your aero-guard and use at all times- even at night- do not leave food or drink near your bed- you are inviting the insects to sleep with you-- it is a topical country after all-- same precautions as you would during a hot summer in Aus.
The beach is not One Mile Beach in Newcastle, but we were more interested in the spa and pool than the beach
