We have just returned from Nang Thong 1.

Our room was lovely, all new obviously due to the re-build since the Tsunami. Didnt have a kettle for our early morning tea/coffee, but a request at reception saw a brand new one arrive within minutes. Brilliant.

We had a first floor sea view room in the hotel building and it was lovely.; Room was cleaned daily, with new towels and bed linen, and complimentary toiletries. Also supplied 2 bottles of water daily along with beach towels. There was a very efficient haidryer, tv and dvd player in the room. Surprisingly t hough, there was no telephone for room service or early morning call.

Lots of Germans and Scandinavians in resort, must say as British we were definitely in the minority, but was not a problem, apart from the normal German mentallity of bagging a sunbed at 6am in the morning, which meant that sometimes we found it hard to find a bed with an umbrella.

Lovely pool area with swim up bar, and plenty of sun beds.

The restaurant here was very good, and the reviews we read before we went lived up to our expectations and the food really was very good, you could also get a half decent bottle of local Thai wine for 180 baht ( approx £3.)

One down side was that the resort has a stagnant river??? running through it, which is very silted up and very very smelly most of the time. We really feel that this needs attention, as you could smell it whilst eating in the restaurant and it can be very off putting. Seems such a shame because the resort on the whole is very nice. In fact, I think the smell from this would put me off booking here again, it also must attract mozzies and I did get quite bitten despite being very careful. We actually re-named the resort Nang Pong !

A short walk up to the high street where there was more shops/ well stocked supermarket and restaurants and taxi's to other resorts.

Friends of ours stayed at Nang Thong 2 which is much smaller and very nice, all bungalows and a more intimate feel to it. But we know from them that the sun bed issue was a huge problem with all beds being taken up very early in the morning and those that were left had no cushions, because they did not have enough.

on a plus point, the pool here was beautiful and nearly always empty.

Lovely beach but while we were there very big waves most of the time.

Having visited many other parts of Thailand we do however feel that this area did not have a 'Thai' feel to it.

We can see why this place is very popular with the Germans and repeat visitors. Clean rooms, efficient service, deck chairs right by the beach. The resort has one of the best locations in Khao Lak being right by Nang Thong beach and only a short walk away from the main street. There was no view from our seaview rooms but the rooms were spacious even with an extra bed and lots of room in the balcony for dive gear and vegging.

The cool water pool by the beach was a relief after too much sun especially with a beer by the pool bar. We didn't think the restaurant by the beach was exceptional (try Jai for real thai food and Viking for good pizzas). However, the "secret breakfast" dish of fried potatoes, bacon and eggs were a hit with our party every morning. Ask for a table away from the river/open sewer that runs through the resort, which was frankly the only eyesore in a lovely place.

To avoid booking or agent fees, contact the hotel directly at 076 485 088 and ask for Khun Jist. She was always patient and attentive even with our very fussy party. Book early during the peak period (Dec-Mar) or your seaside bungalows will be all gone just like the deck chairs by 7 am in the morning.

My family and I stayed for one week at this lovely hotel. We all loved it! Well-managed and great service. The garden is fantastic with a small but very nice pool. We are five persons in our family so we had two connecting rooms in "sea-view building". The rooms were very nice, spacious and clean. If you only need one room there are lovely bungalows by the sea.
This hotel also have a really nice restaurant on the beach. We tried some other restaurants in Khao Lak, but none of them had soo nice food and great service. They are very good in making thai food as well as western. The hotel is also very well situated, five minutes walk to the mainroad with shops and restaurants. The beach is just outside the hotel and it is very nice in this part of Nang Thong. I highly recommend this resort and I hope I will have the opportunity to visit it again.

Me and my family spend 10 sunny days in Nang Thong Bay Resort. Rooms were lovely, clean and well appointed. Wonderful bathrooms!
Location is great, right on the beach, and less than 10 minutes walk from the main street where all the shops are.
Hotel has beach chairs for guests, separate towels for beach use and nice little pool.
Great value for the money!
