This my ever first in such hotel which is so expensive but the rooms value is not even more than 20 Dollars.
Welcome was so terrible when I arrived to hotel minimum I had wait 24 minutes for check in.Because there was no one at the Reception.
2nd).Rooms was so terrible full with smell and very old.
3rd).Behave of staff wasn't good at all.
4th).i have called at the reception once for the bottles of water they replied we will bring into your room but I wait minimum one hour and no body brings bottles of water into my room and after that I called at reception thrice but no one picked my call.
5th).Toilet was dirty and on the bath tub there was a soap which was used already at once.
When I tried to make tea for me the tea maker the cup and the spoon every thing was dirty.
I just would like to say I have never ever seen such terrible in my life.
My request to the Foriegners please don't waste your money to book this hotel.

Pros: Good pool, quiet location, lots of space, nice beach.
Cons: Humid, smelly rooms, almost empty in Feb, long distance from beach/pool to room, poor food. Far away from other food options. Strange atmosphere of 80ies charter tours. High price compared to alternative.

Welcome was amazing, having lost our cases we were offered a drink and a hot towel.

Transfer from the airport is quite far (1h30) so we were very tired and even though it was a bit later than they normally do it, we were given room service food which was very nice.

There was a bit of a mix up with the transfers which we thought would be charged to our account (the driver ended up thinking the tip in £ was his payment!) We got it sorted though.

Hotel and grounds - Free wifi in reception, pools lovely and clean and very quiet in November. The hotel is on the beach which is beautifully kept and also beside a jungle area where the wildlife can get quite noisy! All in all though it is a quiet location about a 15-20 minute drive from Khao Lak main resort area. We rented a moped for £5 a day in the end (they cost about £1 a day to fill up). This is great but make sure you ask for a helmet as they didn't give us two at first. Also be aware, you will not be insured so you are driving at your own risk. Khao Lak is so chilled though, it was fine for us, I would not have done it in Phuket town!

Rooms - very spacious, we had booked a deluxe room which had a fridge, TV (old fashioned and Thai TV), there is a bath and separate shower which I really liked. The bed was very comfy. There are safes for free in the room.

Weather - in November 2012 we got a lot of thunderstorms at night, some rain in the day, it was very humid. We travelled week 1 and 2. Week 2 was definitely clearer.

Trips - you can do many! We did a day elephant trekking, looking at waterfalls, bamboo rafting and to a turtle farm for about 1300 Thai Baht (£30ish) There was also a boat ride and island hopping to the gypsy village which I think we paid about 1850 for then to the Phuket Fantasea which was a lot dearer (tickets alone are £50 and it's a 1.5hr ride away).

Food and drink - wine is expensive so we stuck to local spirits, you can get a three course meal (Thai food) with soft drinks for about £20 for two at the hotel. The food and service at the hotel is to a very high standard. Cost depends on what you have though :) When we went into town there were a number of really great places to eat, I loved Bussaba it was brilliant. Stay away from the steak place though, they were so rude and the food was rubbish. Mojo was also really good.

Staff - Very welcoming and friendly. It did surprise me though that there wasn't any evening entertainment at the hotel which is the main reason it does not get 5/5 along with the location. It is on it's own and too far out really to not have entertainment programme. The level of spoken English is also a bit poor, if you are welcoming guests from overseas I think that you need to have Chinese, German, Spanish and English speaking as the main languages.

Khao Lak itself is a fab resort - very relaxed but having done it I would say spend 5 days there before seeing the rest of the island.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the first floor rather than ground - there are no lifts in the hotel.

The hotel is nice but in need of some refurbishements, the staff is trying really hard to satisfy guests. The staff is very nice. There are some improvement works in the hotel now, but not disturbing at all. Do not expect a kind of luxury inside the hotel, but you will forget any imperfections as soon as you see the beach. It's absolutely wonderful and so calm!
I do reccommend massage on the beach, good price and quality.

Room Tip: all the rooms are very similar, some of them smell bad but when you ask for change they will give yo...

At the end of August we flew to Phuket for a two week holiday. The weather was mostly sunny with rain only on first 2 days. The hotel is located next to Khao Lak - a top notch tourist destination with great beaches. The surroundings of pure tranquility and wonderful environment make this hotel really special. There is even a free shuttle at your disposal that takes you to the city centre.

Upon arrival we were greeted and shown to the room. They are very spacious, clean, comfortable, good AC and with large balcony.

In terms of facilities: WOW! The swimming pool overlooking the sea is fantastic - large surrounded by palm trees and less than 10 metres away from the beach. I was impressed by the fact that even in low season the staff took care to clean the pool daily. The beach is divine! Great sand and sundecks, wonderful sea colour and very warm (funny enough on a day trip to Singapore we saw an advert in metro for this beach and skiing in Sapporo - that's how good it is!)

The breakfast was perfect - a wide variety that you order individually accompanied by great music. Lunch & dinner is very tasty although I would want to see a wider variety of dishes as it gets monotonous after two weeks.

But the best of all is the staff - very hospitable, nice, always smiling, helpful and go to extra lengths to make your stay amazing. And they do it naturally - for example one day we were offered to have our dinner on the beach with the sunset - splendid idea; or we were taken to a waterfall nearby - a beautiful place.

Overall I would say this is a solid 4 star hotel perfect for relaxtion especially in this time of the year.

As it has been said before, the beach and the surroundings are really stunning. The hotel itself, however is outdated and would urgently need renovation. If you look for a reasonable priced alternative with a great beach and don't mind the rooms to be run down then this is a great choice. The breakfast is simple (bread, muffins, fruits, egg and thai dishes) but not bad.

Positive
Stunning Beach
Quite location
nice staff

Negative
run down hotel rooms
loud aircon

Tip: Don't buy the card for Wifi at the hotel reception - they charge you 500 THB for 15 hours whereas you can get 100 hours for 100 THB if you buy it yourself. Either you buy a TOT wifi card at one of the 7 Elevens - however sometimes they don't have them on stock - or you connect yourself at the hotel to the TOT Wifi connection - then open the browser - The welcome page of TOT Wifi is displayed. In the left corner you can click "Buy account online" - Then pick the choice with the credit card and take whatever package you need. After paying with your credit card you get a password and a username which you need to sign in everytime when you enter the internet. The first time you need to register yourself with name and passport number - noone does however check whether your information is true ... ;) Then sign in with your username and password. Do not close the window while you are surfing and remember to log out when you are finished.
