“One bad experience after another”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

From the moment we arrived at Mukdara we seemed to have one bad experience after another. What makes a holiday good is the little things and Mukdara certainly didn't deliver on this. The room was nice, the grounds were neat and tidy but we found the staff in general to be unattentive, even rude at times and generally didn't listen to us. I realise that english is not their first language so we were patient but this wasn't the problem, they seemed to assume what we were asking rather than listening to us.
The beds were hard as a rock - may as well have slept on the floor. We had to ask for extra blankets to sleep on. They wouldn't allow me to wear my sarong in the restaurant for lunch which was right next to the beach/pool - I had to go to my room to change into singlet and shorts which didn't cover any more than the sarong. They woke us up early one morning in the middle of our stay to give us a letter which told us our departure date (way to make us feel welcome). Tried to charge us extremely high prices for a taxi when we walked onto the street and got one for half the price. The food was disgusting, the music terrible, and they were just generally unfriendly.

We stayed this hotel in late October 2013, the hotel landscaping is pretty nice and quiet with those winding garden walk to get to the breakfast but we were a little surprised that everyday after breakfast all those sun beds were all taken. Guess all guests felt really comfy staying in the hotel all day like we felt since there are quite a few promo for food and beverage i.e happy hour and reasonable prices for all dishes and stuff, also who wanna leave the stunning beach out front on the sunny day! though driving outside to the local restaurants around is just as easy!

Wifi connection is great though we had no mobile signal at all hahaha...a truly getaway of some sort I would say, great thing is you can find power sockets just everywhere even right on the beach!! All in all we think it's a great value for this first long stay. Definitely going back to the place again.

Room Tip: Go for villa only

Mukdada Beach Villa & Spa Resort, Khoa Lak, Thailand… November 21 to November 27, 2013

Khoa Lak was hit the hardest by the Tsunami in 2004, but today you see nothing from this terrible disaster. When arriving in Phuket by air you will travel via car for 1:15 hrs to reach the Mukdada Beach Villa & Spa Resort located on beautiful Bang Niang Beach. We were greeted by a friendly staff ( Eid the Front Office Manager and Nan who escorted us to our room ) and accommodated in a very spacious Garden Villa Room 2137. with an attached living room and a huge bathroom. very impressive accommodations located in a garden setting across the pool. By the way the Resort haas another pool near the dining room and ocean. The Resort is well maintained and the gardens are well manicured by the gardening staff. There is a Tennis court, Fitness Room, Thai massages are offered near the pool located by the beach, there is free internet usage, they also have a library in the computer room. Breakfast is served in the " Touch Beach Restaurant " with great views towards the Ocean , it's a lovely setting , you hear the surf. The selection of food items for breakfast are plentiful and as always there are Western / Asian food items. The Resort has a lot of open spaces and is similar to Bali Hotels architecture. For Dinner @ the Touch Beach Restaurant, there are "Theme Dinners" or they feature 10 Specials @ 350 bath including salad and a glass of wine, Ms. Pond does a very professional job here. You are able to walk Bang Niang Beach which is several miles long . The color of the sand is like "english mustard "… from here enjoy beautiful sunsets…. all we can say is, that we enjoyed our stay and can recommend "Mukdada Beach Villa & Spa for your next vacation. Nice hotel and good location, we stayed in the beachfront pool villa which was a very good choice The hotel is a bit old but very well maintenanced, nice with thai style decor. The bathroom was close to perfect, big Jacuzzi and a very well functioning rainshower - Alot of preasure and plenty of hot water.

The breakfast buffe was really good its worth to mentioned that there very 2 kinds of cheese for the buffet and decent coffee as well. Plenty of different food to chose from.

The room service food was so so and the friday BBQ buffet was not really exciting. Dont really now why they chose a hawaian theme show, thai style would have been much better when we are in Thailand...

But all in all a few really good days with a nice beachfront villa and the private pool was really big.. This hotel is a really good value, similar bungalow with private pool costs easily the double but probably more luxury...

Room Tip: Beachfront pool villa is a must...

Our family of 2A/2T stayed here in 2 connecting rooms for 8 nights at the beginning of Jan '14. This was our 2nd trip to KL and we love it. We used all of the facilities over the week inc gym, tennis etc. all good. We were able to get a pool lounge at any time of the day at the garden pool which was our first choice of pool. The beach pool was warmer and smaller so not so refreshing. Lounges were not always available at the beachfront. Beach straight out from resort was lovely and had access to other resorts and little beach restaurants to be able to get food right on the beach. Got massages just up from Mukdara on the beach. Nothing like massages on the beach with only the sounds of the ocean and the Thai ladies speaking occasionally. Straight across from the main entrance is a 7/11 where we got drinks, snacks and got our laundry done. Breakfasts were excellent, staff always lovely and we had no issues at all. Free wifi was excellent and we would stay here again without hesitation.

A great place to base your self if you want to explore this part of Thailand, the hotel is a good family hotel, rooms are spacious & clean, the staff are very friendly as are all the people of Thailand, fantastic beach, we stayed for 9 nights in total in 2 rooms, there was an amusing incident as we were leaving we settled the bill and were in the taxi when one of the staff came running out, they had not charged us for a bottle of water 20 Bats € 0.40 cent ... strange... when we had just spent €,€€€

We stayed 6 nights in a deluxe garden villa with outdoor shower. Villa spacious with big bed but very dark inside. Lots of windows but not enough light. The same for the bathroom, long and dark. The outdoor shower excellent but watch for mosquitoes.
The resort looks tires even it is only 7 or 8 years old.
The weather was quite stormy and rained every day as this was the end of rainy season so the beach was not accessible. You can walk on the beach when low tide but be prepared to cross few rivers and they can be deep. Breakfast OK but very poor selection of fruit, and by 10am (by the way breakfast was up to 10.30am) most of the fruit and food was gone.
The staff at the reception , except one person, very difficult to communicate with as very poor English. Towards the end of our stay we had some "company" in the roof of our villa, not sure what it was, rats or squirrels but very noisy during the night. From the hotel walking distance to restaurants and good choice as not only Thai food but Italian or Mexican. Lots of places with massage.
