“A must stay destination!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

Wow! What a beautiful and wonderful place. We stayed here for 7 nights, and even then that was not enough. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the likes of Phuket, but if its piece and quiet you are after, with absolute luxury, then this is the place to stay. The resort itself is only 6 months old, so everything is lovely, and they are still doing works to make it even more wonderful and appealing (non of which interfered or hindered our stay). The rooms are massive with wonderful views of the pool, and our room also had views of the beach. The buffet breakfast was brilliant, with more choices than one could imagine, and fresh everyday. The staff are absolutely fabulous, and as others have said, they cannot do enough for you. Nothing is too hard. Special mention to Jefferson and Alpine who were an absolute delight and a joy to deal with, as we're all the staff. We spent 2 days going on different tours, which both took about an hour to get to from the resort. Not a problem as transport included in the price of the tours. Another day we spent on scooters discovering local waterfalls, beaches and markets. A fantastic way to explore the area of Khao Lak. The town itself is only about 10 minutes transport, and the local market well worth checking out, including Songs Bar for a few drinks and hanging out with the locals and expats. Would absolutely go back to stay there again!!!

Room Tip: I think any room here would be wonderful, just depends on whether you want a ground floor room that...

Myself and my girlfriend stayed at this resort for 3 nights after staying in patong for 6 nights and we really regret not doing it the other way around.
the staff really go out of their way to ensure your stay here is one you will remember.
We stayed in a pool access suite directly across from the pool bar which was just awesome to open your door and jump into the pool.
There are two places to eat lunch and dinner (they have identical menus) but this may be due to it being the low season, really nice food but it would get repetitive everyday In my opinion.
The only thing I can criticize is that the staff could speak a little more english.
would definitely return to this resort.

We change to Mai khao lak in a half way of our honeymoon stay in Phuket. After go though a lot of reviews, we finally decided to book Mai khao lak.

The room is spacious and clean. There are two TV sets for us to watch different programs at the same time. And daily supply 6 bottles of water for FREE. Since the period we stay is the low season, it's keep raining all the day. But kids club, spa, gym are all open to use. Our kids enjoy the time @kids club. And also the swimming pool is fantastic , they have daily maintenance to keep the pools clean. That's wonderful.

Dinning options are limited, they are only one restaurant in the night. No much choices, we almost eat all the dishes from the menu. Breakfast is Soso only, no much choices also.

Staffs here are all friendly and nice. I have to thanks to alpine, a beautiful ,nice, friendly ladies to makes our stay wonderful. Of course hv to thanks to other staffs.

Overall,we enjoy stay here. Highly recommended.

We stay for 6 nights at the start of June. We had a deluxe room overlooking the pool bar. The room was wonderful, serviced fully each day, spacious, well laid out and maintained. The staff were exceptional from Peace(not war) the driver who picked us up from Phuket airport at 9.30pm to the friendly cleaning staff who made sure our room was always well maintained. The front counter people Alpine and co were always pleasant and helpful with tour bookings, scooter hiring and local knowledge. The breakfast was a treat to look forward to every morning, everything was fresh and plentiful. The crew at the sunset bar were brilliant. They made us feel like Royalty every time we ate there. The resort was very quite this time of year which made us feel spoilt as there wasn't any crowds and it seemed liked the staff were outdoing themselves to please us. We hired a scooter from the resort which again was well maintained and got to see some little treasures that Jefferson and staff had suggested. One little surprise was a little restaurant (Black and White Café) on the next beach north of Mai Khaolak. On the beach at the front of the resort was a local restaurant which surprised us with the menu and the quality of their food. We relaxed for a well deserved massage one evening, which was better than most I've had, in the tranquil setting of their in house spa. All in All Mai Khaolak spoilt the rest of our holiday as the standard the resort and staff set was extremely high which made it hard for the other places to compete against. We are planning to return to Khaolak in the future and Mai is on the top of the list so far. Thanks to Jefferson, Alpine, Tong, Ada and the others I can't remember for making our break a pleasant stay. And finally to Peace the driver who delivered us to the Resort than onto Krabi at the end of our stay at Mai Khaolak

We have recently returned from a 3 week holiday to Thailand staying at 3 different resorts. We stayed in Mai Khao Lak for our second week with our two young children (1.5 and 4 years old).
We knew when booking our holiday that it was the rainy season but we didn't realise how quiet Khao Lak would be. The resort was very quiet this time of year but this most probably worked in our favour as we had all the lovely hotel staff looking after us and our children.

We had 3 beautiful days of sunshine and spent most of the time in one of the pools. The pools were by far the nicest we had on our trip. They are incredibly clean and well maintained. The beach is also beautiful however the sea was too rough to swim in this time of year. I imagine it would be stunning during the dry months.

There was only 1 non resort beach restaurant open when we were there... We ate there a couple of times, the food there was good and cheap. We ate most of our meals at the resort. The breakfast buffet was excellent and there is plenty to choose from. Tong who manages the resort restaurant by the beach took great care of us and always made us feel welcome. The best meal we had was the Thai set menu on our last night! Most evenings they organised a golf buggy to take us to the restaurant to ensure we didn't get wet in the rain.

The rooms were very clean, spacious and very well equipped. There were umbrella's, beach hats, beach towels, flip flops etc. The best thing about the rooms is that there was a TV in both the bedroom and the living area which meant that we could still watch TV after the kids went to sleep. The other resort we stayed at had only 1 TV which was in the living area where the kids slept.

My husband had a massage in the spa and was very pleased. He said it was one of the best massages he's ever had. I can't remember the exact name of the masseuse but I think it sounded like Tanya.

For us what made Mai Khao Lak stand up against the other resorts was the amazing and wonderful staff that made us feel so welcome and looked after our every needs. The kids were always entertained by someone and they made sure to play and distract them from us during dinner time which meant my husband and I could eat and have a bit of a conversation! Also their level of english was a lot better than other places we stayed at.

They all work so incredibly hard. Thank you Alpine, Jefferson, Nephahon (thank you for looking after the kids so we could have a drink!), Tong, Adda, golf buggy guy, the cooks, the cleaners and all the other staff who's names I can't remember.

Thank you all for making our trip so wonderful!

Room Tip: We stayed in normal room on the 4th floor which had excellent views of the pool and the ocean.

I am so surprised that anyone could complain about the wonderful Mai Khaolak.
We have just left from having a 10 day stay at this resort. After staying at The sister resort Mai Samui in Koh Samui last year, we decide we would see what the hotel had to offer for our family.
As my husband and I were traveling alone this time we wanted to relax, unwind and experience a little of the culture of Thailand, and we were not disappointed.
I purchased through Agoda, 10 nights in a Deluxe room but thought I would email as I saw an offer on their website about an upgrade to a Pool access room.
I received a reply that day saying that they would honour their offer even though I had not purchased through the hotel directly. Great service already!
Once we arrived we were blown away by the resort and its beauty and ambiance and I was thrilled with the pool access.
Yes I must admit you can hear the air-con, but ours wasn't unlike our airconditioning at home, noise but nothing out of the ordinary.
Whilst the resort itself may not have activities running everyday. All you had to do was to ask the staff and they would help with organizing something for you. It is after all their low season! All resorts are the same this time of year in Khaolak.
In my personal opinion a hotel can be as luxurious and grand as can be, but is nothing without warm, inviting staff and we left feeling like we bid farewell to long lost friends. They could not have been more sincere, kind and accommodating. Nothing was too hard for them.
Our last night we were treated to a breathtaking 'romantic dinner' that the staff organized for us on their own accord. After arriving back from a visit into Khaolak Centre, we were driven by golf buggy to a MAGICAL table set up in the garden just for us. Tong the Food and Beverage manager, Jefferson F&B Assistant, Alpine Guest relations Assistant and the rest of the wonderful staff made our night one we will always remember.
We cannot thank them enough.
I highly recommend this resort to anyone willing to relax and unwind from the crazy life we experience back home. It is a family friendly, beautiful resort that I am excited to share with my children at the end of the year.
There is so much more I could say about the hotel, staff and area it would take all day. I offer my email address to anyone who is contemplating this resort and is worried about previous reviews to contact me as I am more than happy to give more information.
Thank you Mai Khaolak, Alpine, Jeffery, Tong, Karnganee, Namfon, Ada and all the other wonderful staff that made our holiday one we will never forget.
Until next time, Mr M and Miss S :)
