We just returned from what was supposed to be an eight night stay at The Sands, we ended up only staying five. The place is fine, but it is just that. The rooms are okay but nothing special, the pool, grounds, gardens, facilities etc. are again okay, nothing really stood out as fantastic. The food options were pretty limited, we ate out side the hotel most nights. The place just generally lacked character. We found it was quite sleepy (this was more than likely contributed by the fact it was low season) and this was why we ended up leaving three days early and heading down to Phuket. Having stayed in a number of other resorts in Thailand we just felt that we could have gotten better value for money. Saying that we would say that the staff were very nice and always went out of their way to assist and provided a fantastic service. We noticed some of the other comments below about being charged twice / additional charges on the final account. We too were charged an additional 1000 baht for a dinner that we had a voucher for. We reviewed our final bill very carefully and were lucky to pick up on it. Overall fine, but nothing special.
