we stayed at the sands at the beginning of april, first impressions when we arrived , that it was very big , but also beautiful.
We were checked in very promptly and the porters dealt with all the lifting, our room was huge, we had a seaside junior suite, the view of the pool and sea were lovely. if there was one downside to our room, was that the shower tended to leak into the sink area, but that's not the end of the world.
The actual hotel is very big , but I have to disagree with some of the other reviews, the landscaping makes the hotel look stunning , and to boot the whole place is absolutely spotless a huge credit to all the ground staff.
the rooms were cleaned everyday if you wished, and the cleaners always done a brilliant job, while this technically probably isn't a 5 star which everyone keeps moaning about, this is still probably the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in.
im not sure what some people expect for breakfast in the way of choices, but I really couldn't have asked for any more......fruit, croissant, cake, full English, omelettes right down to curry , good tea and coffee, fruit juices, there really couldn't be anymore choice!!.
we ate in talay only once but the food and service was all very good, if there was a slight gripe with the hotel was the price of alcohol, tiger and singa prices were particularly overinflated compared to everywhere else we ate.
a big downside though ,which had nothing to do with the hotel , or the staff, it was other holidaymakers..... the staff all around the hotel are always happy , polite and smiling, and the amount of people I heard speaking to staff in such a disgusting way amazed me, yet they held there smile and dignity at every point, all credit to the staff.
if you are thinking of going to the sands , I can honestly say you wont regret it, unless your expecting the ritz standards at travel lodge prices.........beautiful hotel great staff great location
