“Thailand Stress Breaker”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2014

We bought eight day package to stay here, which is our first visit to Thailand. The resort is fantastic and the amenities spotless. We have been very impressed by the courtesy of the staff and management. There has been a mixture of age groups here at the resort which makes for some good converstaions and people are from all over the world.

We usually go cruising and thought we would give this a try. We are converts to this type of holiday now. It isn't the place to go to if you want to part all night but if you want to relax and enjoy magnificent sunsets, great views and pools then this is your place.

We got a massages included in our package which I would recommend and had a Premier villa which was located close to the pool area. Having said that everything is close to the pools. I love the fact that there are no children here. So no splashing and screaming.

The food at the restaurants is very good. A lot of people were wandering to little restaurants and bars along the beach but I really couldn't understand as they were not that much cheaper. And the cleanliness of the kitchens and food handling is best world standard. I would rather pay a couple of extra dollars and know that I am not going to get ill from something I ate in an uncontrolled environment.

Feedback would be that a bigger wine list would be appreciated in restaurant especially red.

The beds are super comfortable and the room air conditioning worked a treat. The gym is well equipped also.

I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to kick back and relax.

We will definitely return

Room Tip: All appear good to me. The premier villas are in the middle of resort.

Dear Antoinette B,

Thank you for your excellent review off the resort. Happy that the Package you bought from Luxury Escapes was good value for money and we hope too have you back again in the not too distant future. Another promotion will be on Webjet as of next week. Can book now and use next year too.

Yours sincerely

Where to begin... YOU MUST GO!!!
check in was amazing after a 27hr trip we were greeted with fruit and a cold towel also a glass of water. It was fast efficient and we were taken straight to our villa. The villa was out of this world, I have never stayed anywhere as beautiful in my life! It was spacious, light and beautifully presented. Really took our breaths away. The bed was also enormous :) the hotel overall was beautiful and could not be faulted. The staff were by far the friendliest people I have ever met in my life and for the people who complain about there limited English.... GO TO A ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRY ON YOUR HOLIDAYS in future! How ignorant! I found their English perfect alot better than my Thai anyway ha. And no they may not swarm around you every 2 seconds but I found Thailand a very relaxed country and if we looked over to them they came rushing over to help. What a lovely and fantastic group of staff they have, they made the holiday very relaxing. When I was stung by a Jellyfish they helped so much and again it's a risk you take when you go to these beautiful unspoilt countries but worth it. We were warned about jellyfish so our own fault.
The food at the beach cafe was simply to die for and although some people complained about prices compared to the beach cafe's, do you really expect to pay the same at a 4* restaurant than a beach hut? Although the beach huts were lovely nothing compared to the beach restaurant and we ate there most nights. Everything was so delicious and so reasonably priced for the quality of food you received.
The breakfast was also great. So much selection and everything you could think of. I had noodles a d waffles haha love it!
It was genuinely the most beautiful and relaxing holiday I have EVER been on!! I would not hesitate to come back again and recommend it to everyone I know.
The trips were also great and we sat down with a lovely guy a few days after we arrived so had chance to Settle in first.
The only suggestion I could say is maybe provide toilet brushes because although I found it hilarious my bf was a tad embarrassed having to get cleaners to come unblock the toilet due to his ... well you can guess what I mean haha but yet again the cleaner was lovely and very helpful.
Thank you for a memorable holiday.

Dear stace_the_face,

Thank you for your elaborated review of the resort. I am happy to read that you had a good stay with us. We have installed hand-showers in the toilets to help the flush and clean the toilets, I trust that is a much more hygiene solution than the standard brushes at home.

Anyway again, many thanks for taking your time to write your TA report.

We stayed at Beyond Resort beginning of April for our first trip to Thailand and we are so glad we chose this hotel! So so many good points.

Check in was welcoming and calm, lovely cold towel and fresh fruit to eat whilst all the paperwork was sorted.

Our room was stunning. We had room 2401, overlooking the lagoon and the view was beautiful. Lovely sunsets and view across the lagoon to the sea. The room was huge! And beautifully decorated! The beds were so comfy and we LOVED the pillows!!! Because it is a premier palm villa, we got loads of extras like free mini bar refill and fresh fruit everyday which we really enjoyed! The toiletries provided were really good quality too.

The pools were our favourite part of the hotel, so beautiful and warm, and never felt crowded. We had some wonderful massages at the pool by Hna, foot massages were the best!

The food and drinks at the hotel were amazing. We loved the beach bar and ate there most evenings. We also loved the bbq buffet night! Fresh pasta cooked right infront of you! We loved the milkshakes and frozen cocktails too!

Carsten was really helpful booking excursions for us, our fave was a the elephant trekking and bathing!

I could carry on writing for ages, the hotel is amazing and we would definitely return when we come back to Thailand!

We have just arrived back home to Sweden after 2 fantastic weeks at the Beyond Resort, Khao Lak in Thailand. This hotel is the most perfect place if you want to feel spoilt, to feel absolute relaxed, in wonderful green environment and at the most perfect beaches you can get!
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful! Upon arrival we asked to get a room closer to the pool area and we were lucky to get one! The reception staff were not at all sour for our request and helped us immediately! Thanks a lot for that!
The rooms are enourmous! And spotless Clean!! New beach towels and water bottles every day!
Breakfast is super! Anything you would like to have! Big selection of tropical fruits and juices!
Many of the staff are from the Phillipines and are very helpful and friendly! One of the waiters at the beach bar, Eddie, is also a fantastic singer!
The pools are the best ever seen! 5 different, even with jaccuzzi! Nice to relax after a long walk at the beach!
The so called White sand beach, which actually is south of the cape if you walk south at the beach, is not whiter than the beach at the Beyond Resort! We think the beach at Beyond is EVEN BETTER!!
Lots of nice typical Thai restaurants at the beach just North of the hotel! And lots of Thai Massage huts with professional staff!
The gym at the Beyond Resort is super! Both weights and Machines, stair Machines, running and cycling Machines.
We did not use the spa facilities at Beyond, as we think the prices there are far too high!
The area is very quiet and not at all crowded, just what we were looking for. A big + for your 18-year limit!!
The only negative thing we can think of is that we had to pay for rental of the cayaks or windsurfing equipment as we were travelling with Thomas Cook...It was free for other companies...
To sum up; If you are looking for a great hotel at a great peaceful beach, you have come to the right Place! Go to Beyond Resort in Khao Lak. We will definitely come back!!!

We have just returned from 7 nights at the Beyond Resort and it was absolutely perfect if you are looking for somewhere to get away from it all.
- Good pool/beach area with plenty of loungers
- Fantastic breakfasts with a huge variety
- Brilliant, spacious rooms which were cleaned to a high standard
- We ate at the beach bar once and it was ok - we preferred to head to the beach bars which were much better value for money and in our opinion really tasty - try the "Rasta Bar" (I think its also called Dawan Tang which had some amazing food! and also Elicious next door. Both brilliant
- No problems with communicating with any of the staff - all were friendly and spoke good english
- Spa - although more expensive then a massage on the beach was well worth it in my opinion if you are after a bit of luxury!

All in all a great place to chill out! Thanks for a fantastic week!

We stayed at The Beyond Resort Khao Lak for ten nights for the first part of our honeymoon arriving on Christmas Eve. Prior to travelling to Khao Lak I contacted Robert, the manager, about upgrading out room and all communication was responded to quickly and helpfully.

On arrival at the resort we were checked in extremely quickly and the reception staff were very understanding when we didn’t have a print out of our booking. We were exhausted after 24 hours of travelling and we were quickly taken to our premier palm villa, shown the facilities in the room and left to relax.

The room and the resort itself are absolutely stunning and the staff second to none! No matter what time of the day or night they were always happy to help, enthusiastic with a huge smile on their face. Yes – we encountered one or two communication problems but these were always resolved by an English speaking member of staff and at the end of the day, you’re in Thailand, if you’re not able to communicate in Thai don’t criticise where someone is unable to communicate in English.

The pool areas are well equipped with a variety of loungers and were never overcrowded. There was never a problem getting a sunbed although on two occasions there was a shortage of towels for the sunbed and we had to wait 20minutes. We regularly ate at the beach bar and found the food to be of an excellent standard and a very good price for the standard of the hotel. The drinks and cocktails we also considered to be a reasonable price and excellent quality. Having said this we also drank and dined in a number of the beach bars along the beach all of which we found to be fantastic value and quality. We especially recommend ‘Grandmoms’ where the owner Eon (pronounced On) will happily talk to you about the impact the tsunami had on his family and his mum / grandmother who cook the food. We also booked two trips through Eon. One – a boat trip to the similian islands and the second a private tour of the Khao Sok national park and elephant trekking where Eons cousin was a tour guide. To get to the beach bars you have to cross a channel. This is easy to do when the tide is low but be careful – when the tide is high (Waist high) the channel must be crossed by a very rickety wooden bridge that the locals have built. Very hairy experience but one worth having!

Whilst at Beyond Resort we were invited to the managers cocktail party which was lovely and we were able to speak to Robert in person which was nice after all the communication exchanged before our trip. I had also celebrated my 30th birthday on our wedding day and was given a delicious cake in our room one day and invited to celebrate at a lunch with other members of staff who were also celebrating their birthday in December. A lovely touch. On new years eve all guests were invited to attend a Gala dinner which was already included in your room rate. The food was fantastic and there was a good variety of entertainment. My only disappointment was that we were not given lanterns to set off as other resorts down the beach were. Had I known this in advance I would have purchased our own. A similar gala dinner was also held on Christmas Eve and was also included in the room rate. Sadly, on checking in, this was not made clear to us so we paid to eat at the Beach Bar. We were probably to exhausted to have enjoyed it anyway but it would’ve been nice to have had the option made clear to us.

Beyond Resort Khao Lak is surrounded by stunning, lush tropical gardens and as a result does tend to attract mosquitoes. The use of strong repellent kept them from biting us however on a number of mornings we awoke to find our bodies covered in bites. It didn’t take long to realise that this was the result of the housekeeping staff leaving the doors wide open whilst cleaning – despite a sign on the door reminding guests of this problem! We regularly called reception to ask for our room to be sprayed when we went out for dinner in the evening… Only to find the same problem occurring the next day with the door being left open again. This problem absolutely needs to be addressed with the housekeeping staff. As others have mentioned we were disturbed on the first two mornings by housekeeping staff coming to clean our room whilst we were still asleep. I resolved the using a note on a piece of paper and a plaster to stick it to the window to create a makeshift Do Not Disturb sign but again, this is something that needs to be resolved.

Our honeymoon at Beyond Resort Khao Lak was everything we had dreamed of and I can honesty say I shed a few tears as we left the resort at the end of the ten days. Thank you to Robert and all the staff who contributed to making it a honeymoon that we will always remember.

Room Tip: We found that upgrading to a premier villa was well worth the extra cost as the discount on food and...

Dear Kazza1283,

Many thanks for your slightly delayed but nevertheless much appreciated review of your honeymoon destination in Thailand. As we are selling all Christmas and New Years events on a compulsory basis to our agents, we feel that THEY should have informed you what you get for what your paid for. Anyway, I am very sorry that you missed out on the XMas dinner. As you may have seen, we have been awarded Gold level of Travelife. I think there are only 7 Gold awarded properties in Thailand. This is measuring our environmental efforts as well how well and sustainable we treat our staff.. One measure we have taken is not to use the hot air balloons in mass events. They burn out and fall in the sea, the wiring is dangerous to turtles and fish. ( we know they look nice and romantic.... )
Regarding the open door during house keeping services, this is merely a security question. Once the window door are closed it is not possible to see into the rooms anymore. As much as I like to trust my staff, do not take the cow by the horns, opportunity create thief's. I have been considering this measure many times, : I take the occasional mosquito.

I count on your kind understanding, many thanks again and hopefully the 1st anniversary will be here under the stars at the beach. 1 Hotair balloon is on me...

Bets regards

We stayed for 11 nights this month, March 14. This resort is very quiet and very relaxing. We stayed in a premier villa.
PLUS POINTS
Excellent rooms, very large and everything you could need provided. Bottled water daily, well stocked mini bar, tea and coffee.
WIFI that really does work with no problems
Drinks, cocktails with branded spirits
Food menu for lunch at bar very varied and reasonable price, both Thai and continental items available.
Good choice of food at breakfast. Buffet style with omelettes etc cooked to order.
Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Ed, Tai, Bai and Jai-Jai. Thank you Tai for my espresso martini.
Brilliant location, close to many restaurants and massage places on the beach and close, 15 mins, to Khaolak centre, 300thb in a taxi.
Swimming pools, warm, clean and lovely swim up bar. Plenty of sun beds without having to get up at the crack of dawn.
WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED
I have not given five stars, but the reasons for this are all very minor and would not take much to put right.
We arrived after a long flight at 23:00. We were checked in quickly and taken to our room. We started to unpack but being hungry and thirsty decided to go to the bar. It was closed. We headed to reception and asked where we could get food, we were told nowhere and we would have to wait for breakfast. For a hotel of this quality the ability to get something like a sandwich 24 /7 would be expected.
In the room we were disturbed several mornings whilst enjoying our morning coffee by the cleaner, this was before 9 am. Through the door she could see we were sat in bed but still knocked. Supplying a do not disturb sign would overcome this problem.
There is a shuttle bus into Khaolak. We were advised at check in and by our tour operator and their rep in resort that this was free. On going to book the bus we were advised it would cost us 150 THB per person as we were going after 4pm. We know this is not expensive and it is not the cost that bothered us. It is being told that the bus is included and then it is not. We got a taxi which cost us 300, the same price and took us exact key to where we wanted to go.
Plenty of sun loungers but for comfort some kind of cushioning would be preferred.
It has been mentioned before that lack of staff speaking. English is a problem. We are very open minded, we are in Thailand so why should people speak English? But it did become annoying at times particularly at the bar and in reception when asking of the simplest things. Ed and his cousin who had just chained the bar staff were excellent and also Bai. Perhaps employing one fluent English speaker at reception would help.
Vary the night time entertainment, it is the same band every night, all be it some nights have additional themed activities.
At check in and when we were shown the room we were given flip flops for use. In other hotels we have stayed in of this quality these have always been free to take away. We assumed the same here as there was nothing to indicate anything differs. Until check out when we were told they were £5 a pair. We gave one set back but had to pay for the other. We didnot know we had been wearing shoes worn by others.

we had a fabulous holiday and the improvements are only minor things. I would recommend this hotel to couples wanting a very quiet, relaxing holiday. It is very quiet at night with the bar closing at midnight and most customers off to bed way before this time,

Dear Manucaz21,

Many thanks for your great comments. I am sorry that we let you sleep hungry the first night actually our standard is Club Sandwiches to the late arriving rooms free of charge.
A Non Disturb sign is installed soon and pool loungers will get mats soon as well. The shuttle but remains free till 16.00 for some agents but as of May 01. all busses are chargeable at Bht. 120.- pre person per way. English speaking staff... hmmmm... unemployment here is 0.4%, the government make it very difficult employ foreigners ( Philippine's etc ) there is simply nobody on the "Market" English speaking or not. We will add another 2 Swiss staff in the management and hope to get another 5-6 Philippine's on a temporary basis here soon. This will certainly improve the communication in the resort. I make it sound bad too, its actually not bad, but don't expect a cleaner or gardener to understand your wish in changing a seat in the airline you fly back. I think with a bit of patience everybody is understood.

Again, busy working on perfection here, many thanks
