Just returned from a PhangNa roadtrip that took in Khao Sok Tree Houses and 6 nights in Railay Bay. We decided to stay at Kantary Khao Lak on our way back to Bangkok and we are so glad we did! What a contrast to Railay (beautiful but busy).
There are many places to stay in Khao Lak but Kantary is probably one of the best, quite a huge resort with a mixture of suite rooms and standalone villas, we chose one of the beachfront villas which is set back about 50 metres from the actual beach but with an unobstructed view of the Andaman Sea. The beach was amazing - absolutely huge, seemingly unsullied by high rises and virtually empty! it's still the kind of place you say 'hi!' to people as you pass them on the beach.
We've stayed at Cape Panwa Resort hotel and Cape House Kantary Bangkok and Chiang Mai before so we knew that the food and service would be exemplary; and we were not disappointed.
All in all a great place to go and really chill away from the crowds of Phuket or Krabbi. They have a couple of restaurants, a bar, 3 pools, kids club, good wifi, the villas had satellite tv and a dvd player - and were spotless, bright and roomy.
