“Amazing Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2011

Finally we have some time to comment our stay in Casa de La Flora in Khao Lak.
It was an amazing experience since we arrived at Phuket Airport.
We had on our arrival a BMW 7 Series with all the commodities, fresh water, soft drinks, beer and fresh towels. The drive took around 1 hr where we had the chance to contemplate the environment and talk with the driver and tour guide.
When we arrived at the hotel the Manager was waiting for us and introduced us to the very friendly Hotel Staff. This was August and we stayed 5 nights. The temperature was around 28 C with almost no rain except in one the days.
The hotel was working 100% but being low season the number of guests was reduced, fortunately for us.
Our opinion is that this hotel is heaven on earth as you can see on the attached pictures with no Photoshop except a good camera and an excellent photographer (Jenny).
The room was very nice in terms of design, functionality, and cleanliness. The Internet wireless connection was fast and the TV channels more than enough. The pool villa very convenient.
We had half board with breakfast and dinner. The service was a la Carte and the food very very tasteful. The restaurant staff was fantastic, polite and very well trained. We never had any communication problem, their English is good.
The concierge, our dream maker Joel, was also very helpful in organizing our tour days in Thailand. We went to the James Bond Island and to Patong. I strongly recommend you to book everything with the Hotel. The prices are affordable and the service is 5 stars and very distinct and personalized.
The beaches around the hotel are fabulous with almost no people and very natural. The waters are clean and warm.
Khao Lak market its peculiar. You can find food, clothes, handcrafts, etc. It is walking distance from the Hotel and it’s worthy to visit.
We also recommend the Hotel Spa and Massages. We took a Thai Massage at the hotel, what an extraordinary experience.
We were very sad when we left but on the other hand we brought plenty of good memories of our vacations in Thailand and the hotel contributed extremely to those.
Strongly recommend, I am sure that you not be disappointed.
Best Regards,
Miguel and Jenny

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2011

Casa De La Flora is a small to medium size hotel which consists of 36 one or two bedrooms contemporary slate-grey cube villas. It belongs to a group of hotels called Design Hotels.

I stayed there for 3 nights in September 2011 and I felt like I was a King in heaven!

This hotel is brand new and was recently opened. The smallest villa (1 bedroom studio pool villa) is about 70 sq metres and the biggest villa (2 bedroom grand pool villa) is about 145 sq metres. All of them have private pool and king size bed with large glass facades. Some facing the beach and ocean.

+ + The Location + +

The hotel is located in an area called Khao Lak. For those that are not familiar with the area, it is about an hour drive from Phuket Airport. There is no public transport so to get there you will have to either arrange your own or hire your own car. You can even request the hotel to arrange this for you. The hotel itself is on the beachfront. It has its own private beach. The location is quite remote and isolated so it is not easy to get out of the hotel. There is not much to do around the hotel area. If you do want to explore, you can get a bicycle from the hotel reception. The advantage of the location is its isolation - There is no tourist, no one will sell you things, no traffic noise and you will have the beach all by yourself. The disadvantage is that you will not have much choice of restaurant or pubs apart from the hotel itself.

+ + The Hotel + +

Unlike some 5 stars hotel, this hotel does not have a grand lobby, but rather a small and casual one. It has 1 restaurant called la aranya with bar facilities facing the ocean serving asian and restaurant meals; 1 spa called spa la casa with 4 spa rooms offering two treatment beds for couple, Jacuzzi bathtub, sauna and steam rooms; 1 library; 1 TV/computer room; 1 small gym; 1 medium size guest pool (about 1.5 metre deep) facing the ocean adjoining with a small pool next to the bar. The hotel has its own private beach.

+ + The Room + +

The room is very clean and is like brand new when we were there.

We stayed in the smallest villas - Studio Pool Villa which is still a good size with 70 sq metres. The Villa is fenced with lockable doors to ensure privacy. Inside the fence is your very own private pool. The pool is about 20 metres long and about 1.2 metre deep and comes with pool chairs. Then the giant glass sliding doors will get you inside the villa.

Inside the villa you can find everything a 5 star hotel has. A king size bed with reading lamps and multiple pillows, good quality (Thann) bathroom amenities, big wardrobes and safe are all standard. The Villa also has an iMac connected to a big Sony TV which allows you to serve internet for free, playing preinstalled music, play your own CD/DVDs, watch cable TV or you can even play youtube ! In case this is not good enough, it has a Bose ipod dock. Two telephones (one in the bathroom), two umbrellas, fridge with free refill drinks, juice and beers; wine fridge with good selection of wines; double curtains; Wonder lighting switches which allows you to set the lighting in different themes; your own coffee machine and kettle. For the bathroom, it comes with twin washing basin. The bathroom is an open style design with the door only in the toilet cubicle. It also has a big bath tub for 2 adults and a rain shower. The room has power plugs with different country settings so you do not need even need to bring your power adoptor.

For those people that hate iMac, the hotel does provide free WiFi internet.

+ + The Restaurant / The Bar + +

There is only 1 restaurant and 2 bars (1 bar within the restaurant and 1 at the pool). The restaurant is a casual setting overlooking the ocean. It has a highchair if you have a baby. Although small, the restaurant itself deserves credit on its own. The food is fantastic. It serves al la carte set meals with a choice of Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Italian and Western food. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. I felt like I was a king there.

Breakfast are included in the room rate and there is always room service if you prefer not to go out. The room service menu is limited but at very reasonable price.

** Things I like about this hotel **

Everything ! This is the best luxury hotel that I have ever stayed in. Below are some of the reasons why:

1. The "Magic" Fridge - The hotel provides free daily refill of drinks which includes 2 softdrinks, 2 juices, 2 beers, 2 pierre bottle water and still water so you do not need to worry about drinks.

2. The wine fridge - the room has its own wine fridge with a good wine selections. Oh did I just mention that you do not need to worry about drinks?

3. The Snack - The hotel also provides free daily snack including mini-burger, wrap and sandwich with seasonal fruits.

4. The Service - From the moment I stepped inside the hotel, I felt like a king. I was welcomed with a drink and cool towel. Check in was just a matter of giving them my credit card and my business card. Becase of the small number of guests, everyone there knows you and they really treats you as a friend. All the staff will help you the best that they can, all you need to do is dail "0".

5. The iMac - Connected to the internet and cable TV so you can still keep in touch with the world. If you are still unhappy, you can bring your own CD / DVD.

** Things I don't like about this hotel **

This is a hard one .... to be honest there isn't any but if I really have to say something here they are;

1. The Location - It is about an hour's drive from Phuket. The hotel is not close to anything apart from the beach. So going out would be out of question (but then why will you bother to go out when you are in heaven?)

2. The Price - It is expensive (at least for me it is!). For the price that you are paying, you can stay in another good 5 stars big hotel in Phuket. BUT ... you pay for what you get ... and it is definitely worth it.

3. Too hard to check-out - because I do not want to leave this beautiful place.

===== Overall =====

This is a truly 5 star best luxury hotel in the world ! If you are after shopping, sightseeing or disco, then go somewhere else. However, if you are after a romantic holiday or a good retreat, then this is a heaven.

Yes it is expensive, but I would rather save my money and come here once every 2 years than staying in somewhere else every year.

My Tip - Come and be a witness now and discover it yourself before everyone else did.

Room Tip: Come during off season and you can have the hotel all by yourself !

this resort has only just opened and we are possibly the first paying guests to stay here. it certainly has exceeded all expectations from the moment we arrived at phuket airport.

we were transfered in a luxurious toyota van (complete with amazing leg room and massage seats) and upon arrival at the resort we were swiftly checked in to our room. the trip from phuket airport took only an hour.

it was upon our arrival that we received the great news that we had been upgraded from the studio pool suite to a beachfront villa. we had never been upgraded before and were thrilled with the news! our villa was number 2111, which is literally right on the beachfront and in the far corner of the resort. The resort is compact and everything is only a very short walk.

as the resort had only just opened, the fitness center was not complete, nor was the day spa, so we cant comment on those facilities, however we were able to go to the sister resort a few mins away to use their facilities if we wanted to.

if you like modern, sleek architecture then you will love this place. the landscaping is so well done, and the established greenery sets off beautifully against the raw elements of the concrete, timber and stone that is used throughout the resort. the view from the bedroom is incredible. our favourite element is the outdoor pool which is very private and is a nice size. the pools in the beachfront villas get sunlight from about lunchtime onwards and the water is a lovely temperature. you have a great view of the ocean from your pool and decking area. the pools really are amazingly clean and well designed.

we would definitely recommend stretching your budget if you can and go for a beachfront pool villa. we did see a studio pool and they also look nice, the pool is smaller in the studio villas and they dont seem to have a seperate living area.

the breakfasts are lovely, they serve these amazing pastries which melt in your mouth. its basically a 3 course breakfast which finishes off with some fresh fruit.

the main pool area is lovely and we had this area to ourselves. so you have the choice of relaxing by your own pool or the main pool area. either way you cant go wrong.

the beach is lovely, however during the rainy season (which includes may) the water gets chopped up by the wind and rain and isnt as nice as the dry season. we previously came to khao lak in november 2009 and the beach was very clean and beautiful to swim in. this time in may we were more inclined to swim in the pool.

in terms of the weather it has rained one day out of the four days, with a brief shower on on of the other days and two days of fine weather.

the rooms come with a fantastic entertainment system which includes unlimited internet operated on the TV, free in house movies and many TV channels. you can even view your bill on the TV system.

there is also a mini bar which they top up everyday, including 4 beers, some mineral water and juice. plus they leave a sandwich and apples and plenty of bottled water.

in terms of service, we really cant complain as it has been excellent. we had some issues with the TV not working properly and they were attended to straight away and fixed up relatively quickly. we also had a 9 month old baby and they offered a reliable babysitting service and provided us with a nice cot for the baby to sleep in. you could tell that they were going out of their way to leave us with a great impression of the resort, and it worked! the little things can make a huge difference and that is was this resort does well. i think being a small resort really helps in thats respect.

we would definitely stay here again, preferably during the high season when there are more activities on offer outisde of the hotel such as more shopping, massages on the beach, better weather and beach conditions etc, however for a relaxing and quiet stay then this place is ideal any time of the year and we would happily visit again during may also. alot of the shops etc seem to shut down over the raining season so it was much quieter than our previous trip to khao lak which is during the high season.

to sum it up, we were extremely impressed with the design and construction of the resort and found it to be excellent value for money and a very enjoyable stay in all respects.

we will be back!

We went to Casa de la Flora for a couple of nights, and we have nothing to complain!
Everything was perfect!
The hotel itself is amazing, the view of the sunset in our beach front villa was unforgettable. The hotel is brand new, it is a member of "design hotel" and it is one of the best we tried of this label.
The staff was really friendly and helpful, available for every request at anytime. We liked the fact that they really cared about us and wanted us to enjoy our stay at every single moment, even during the transfer to the airport (free drinks & massage in the car)!
The perfect place to go with your beloved to relax, enjoy privacy and amazing view of the sunset from your own villa.

Stayed here for a couple of nights. Hotel is brand new and some rooms not open yet. Our room was right on the beach with private pool and private sun deck to enjoy the wonderful view of the sun set over water. Room seemed to have the biggest window ever seen. Very comfortable beds and ultra chic and spaceous bathrooms. Rooms and separate sitting areas were very nicely furnished with relaxing teak finishes and plenty of colourful silk cushions. Very high spec, high tec in room entertainment system with an Apple system to deliver (free) internet on the huge HD TV and a list of movies in case your novel is no good. F&B quality and service very high quality and presentation of breakfast omelette was best ever. F & B very good value, less expensive than in Phuket. Beach was very quiet when we were there.

Room Tip: Negotiate for a beach front room as they are very.
