“Very good resort for relaxing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Resort is very nicely done up. Very nice rooms with superb holiday mood. A quiet getaway for those who want to be out of the hustle and bustle of city.

Location can be a little out of the normal tourists area though so it really depends on what you want out of your vacation. There is an elephant camp n also waterfall nearby.

Room Tip: All rooms are okay, so it depends on your budget.

We stayed one night on this resort on route to Ranong. Location is a little off the town center but offers truly quiet settings and surroundings. Plenty of option to dine within walking distance from hotel
Our check in was fuss free. It was raining when we arrived. We were wet and pretty much a little miserable but the friendly reception staff made the check in fast . In no time, we were guided to our room. The room itself was very impressive. Very decent sized with a nice kind size bed. Toilet was too very clean . There was even a little plate of homemade cookies should we want a quick snack. Coffee and tea making facility was available.
As it was the beginning of 'off season' , there weren't many guests staying at the hotel. Dinner was a buffet spread of BBQ meat and salad for only 400baht. A little thin in selection but good in value. However, we opted to eat outside the hotel.
Breakfast was simple but superb. Another buffet spread with plenty of greens with mostly western choices, it was included in our room package.
The pool was nicely sized . The beach was only about 50 m away. Too bad we had to pack up together ready for our journey to Ranong.

My summary:
UP
Friendly staff
Superb rooms
Within walking distance to beach
Good breakfast

DOWN
Limited selection for dinner
Lots of Mosquitos
A tad quiet (could be a pro too)
Little night life

My husband and I spent 8 wonderful nights at the Diamond. After almost 3 months of traveling through S.E. Asia, staying at the Diamond was a real treat. Bea, the manager, upgraded us to the most beautiful room where the verandah door opened up to a lovely pool only accessible to a few rooms. As we were at the hotel in low season, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Not once in 8 days did we share the pool with another guest. We honestly didn't want to leave our room.

The breakfast was the best we have experienced to date. An amazing buffet with a great variety of breakfast and lunch food items. I only learned on the last day that we could also have ordered extra things from the menu so ask about that when you stay. However, there was plenty of selection at the buffet and eggs were made to order. We loved breakfast every day and looked forward to seeing what was on the menu for the day as they changed it daily.

We also ate dinner at the restaurant a few times and it was excellent and well priced for a hotel restaurant. The beach is beautiful - it was unfortunately the time of year when the undertow is strong so the red flag was up meaning we couldn't safely swim. However, it was still a most perfect setting and of course, we had our own fabulous pool!

The resort is away from the main part of Khao Lak - about 15 minutes and a 250 baht taxi ride from the center. However, 3 days a week the resort does provide a free shuttle so you can take advantage of the market. But there were adequate services, spas and restaurants right by the hotel that we never felt the need to leave the area except to get our hair done in the center and go to the market once. We actually loved that we could hibernate in our little piece of paradise and not need the busier center. It isn't really a pretty strip of highway anyways so we stayed at the Diamond and just relaxed.

As in most of S.E. Asia, the beds are firmer than we are accustomed to in North America. However, the maids put extra quilts under the bottom sheet for me and that took care of the problem. Honestly, we have never had such friendly and efficient maids take care of us ever anywhere! We looked forward to their visit rather than dreading it as we usually do in other hotels.

The woman at the front desk Gee Gee was fabulous. I needed maps printed for our trip to Bangkok and nothing was too much trouble. Bea, the manager was also just great and very helpful. Honestly, if we could have stayed longer, we would have but we had a flight to catch. I don't know what the place would be like in high season with alot more people but in low season, it was a dream come true for us. Just what we needed to relax, rest and rejuvenate in beautiful surroundings.

Room Tip: If you can book a room right by the pool, it is private and lovely.

We spent Christmas 2012 at this hotel. We arrived Christmas Eve to a flurry of organising.. for that evenings entertainment. The tables were all beautifully laid out by the pool with a sumptuous display of food for our dinner. We were entertained by local dancers and fire fighters.... and at the end were given lanterns to light down on the beach. It was surreal way to spend Christmas Eve. Apart from that the staff were wonderful & it was the shortest walk Ive ever experienced to the beautiful tranquil beach. Khao Lak is great place to base yourself if you want to visit the Similan Islands. The hotel staff were very helpful arranging tours for us.. I couldn't have asked for a better place to spend Christmas. Rooms were lovely and comfortable and quiet with a balcony. Although this hotel is set a little way out of Khao Lak itself its a short ride into Khao Lak and there are shops / restaurants beside the hotel so its not imperative to go into Khao Lak every evening.

My partner and I spent 7 nights here and loved every minute of it. Our room was beautiful, the staff were amazing and went out of their way to make our stay that more special. The pool area was stunning with a gorgeous view of the beach. We were both very relaxed and enjoyed the delicious cocktails by the pool. The food at the restaurant was to die for, can't recommend their curry's enough. The service was impeccable, everyone always had a smile. Couldn't recommend this place more for a perfect relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: We were in a family deluxe room. It had a lot of space, right by the pool and a gorgeous shower/bath...

My 11 month old daughter and I stayed here for one night only. I booked a standard room but think i was upgraded to a family room and it was big and very clean and everything you could need including a bathtub which is a luxury for me having been living in Thailand for the past 7 months with showers only! I have a couple of grumbles about the room, firstly there were loads of mosquitos, I must have killed 20/30 but my daughter still woke the next morning with 8 bites on her face. I'm sure there is something they could do about this by maybe spraying the outside of the rooms regularly or providing cot mosquito nets if this is a known problem. And secondly the aircon unit was very noisy so difficult to try and sleep with it on.

Wifi was free and fast connection and there is a reasonable selection of TV channels as well as a dvd player.

I had room service which was average but the complimentary fruit dish was pleasing. Breakfast was as you would expect in a 3 star hotel. You could get eggs as you liked them although the person doing the eggs had left (we went in 15 minutes before service was due to finish but I would have expected them to be there still), toast, salad, cereals and a small selection of asian cuisine.

I probably wouldn't choose to stay here again just because I've stayed in better for the same price but the staff are friendly enough and helpful so all in all not too bad.

A lovely hotel with beautiful gardens and a large, clean pool...We stayed in a beach view family villa which was beautifully appointed, spacious and spotlessly clean and a few steps to the pool and the beach...the pool is surrounded by a grassy area with sunbeds facing the sea and an area for massages conducted by the hotel spa...we spent most of our time relaxing by the pool and walking on the beach - fantastic!
The hotel is right on Khao Lak beach which is a quiet, sandy spot great for swimming...The beach is surrounded by trees which provide some shade...it is off the main road so the whole site is peaceful although there is a number of other hotels nearby...a short walk takes you to bars and restaurants and small shops to buy water, beer and snacks...you can even get a suit made (although Bangkok is much cheaper)...
Breakfast at the hotel is buffet style although eggs and bacon are cooked to order...a good selection...
The staff are friendly and helpful...
Having driven around the area before choosing this hotel, we thought this was the best location in Khao Lak...some beaches are too quiet and isolated (for us) whilst another are busy and noisy..
If you are looking for some relaxation on the beach with a selection of restaurants and bars in a low key resort this is the place for you - if you are looking for thriving nightlife you won't find it here...
Highly recommended...
