Description: Hill Tribe Restaurant was opened in 2008. Its chef and owner comes from the area of Chiang Rai in northern Thailand and therefore Hill Tribe Restaurant does not only offer excellent and genuine Thai food but it also introduces its guests to a traditional and unique North Thai dining experience. Families with children are welcome - we have special dishes for kids in our menu. Reservations for Khan Tok (north Thai dinner) recommended.

“Loved the food and the staff were amazing!”

Order the Khan Toke - it's Northern Thailand food and so yummy! The chef who has cooked in many other restaurants before setting up here in 2008 got the temp just right and came to check everything was ok. All the other staff were brilliant and ran around to move us to a new table when it started to rain. The food is excellent quality and we will probably go back here before we go home.

“My new favourite restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

Tired of the standard Thai menu for tourist? Hill Tribes has a large selection of delicious specialties from the North of Thailand. Food great. Staff friendly and polite. Chef very nice and helpful. TIP - seating is outdoors amongst a lot of greenery so at night time you might need your repellent!

“great family service, awesome food...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

One of the highlight meals of a 3 1/2 week trip in SE Asia. Started walking from Nangthong thinking it's just up the road. Finally hailed a 'cab' for the rest of the trip. Worth every minute of travel. Glad it was open in low season, wished we had more nights stay to go back. The people were so pleseant and welcomed us like old friends, the atmosphere very laid back, and as another reviewer noted off the beaten tourist path. The style of food was very unique, careful attention paid to 'mai ped, ped nit noi, etc. to create a tasty, yet not to spicy for the timid. The food was very good and presented very nicely. The sesame and pepper coated chicken was fabulous. My spice timid spouse had prawns seasoned to perfection without the fire. I opted for the seafood hot plate, thai-style. Mixed seafoods and vegetables on a hot plate lit on fire before your eyes. Served with real sticky rice sides. So flavorful and tender seafood, firm vegetables, unique chicken dish also.Topped off with the best mango-rice dessert since C & C in Bangkok . A great meal, nice people, very reasonable prices. And typical of Thai friendlyness our daughter had complimented the server on her 'cool' sandals. The young lady offered to take her down the road to the store so she could get the 'local' price. She was thrilled later with her new 89B sandals, her first scooter ride, and a new besty friend. Very cool. A great little Thai place worth the effort to find. The owner/chef even came out during our meal to see if it was to our liking. Altogether a very enjoyable experience.

“Great Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

This restaurant is well worth a visit. It is one of the top restaurants in the area. We visited the marketplace across the road and then completed the evening by visiting this restaurant afterwards on a recommendation. Don't leave town without a visit! ! Patrick, Sydney, Australia

“Gracious service, wonderful food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

On the side of the road, but once inside you are treated as a guest of the family. The meals were all unique and delicious - the hot plates actually come on fire! I loved the banana flower salad perhaps the best. Only one wine by the glass but an extensive cocktail list as is typical in Thailand. Great mango shakes
