“Pure luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2014

Stayed here for 4 nights. Staff very helpful and friendly and the resort was amazing. Beautiful spacious room overlooking the fantastic Venice style pool that meanders around the resort. Resort kept spotless day and night. Breakfast wonderful and ate in the Thai restaurant one evening which was lovely although a little pricey and there are some beach restaurants just outside the hotel to the right which are cheaper and nice. A nice touch was being brought iced water while sunbathing on the beach at no cost. Plenty of complimentary water in the rooms. If you want to head into khoa lak there is a shuttle bus from the hotel but you have to pay. It's not possible to walk it if you think you will save money! There are also plenty of massage huts on the beach which are worth a try for 200/300 baht an hour. Overall would definitely recommend a stay here.

The JW Marriott is hands down a beautiful peaceful oasis. The pool is like no other and I have seen and stayed at many over the years.

From the moment we entered the foyer we were made to feel special. Check in was quick and we asked to upgrade to a pool access room which was no bother at an additional charge.

Our room was stunning with all the comforts one would need. The bed was very comfortable and it has been the first time I have not had to struggle with uncomfortable hotel pillows. Mini bar is very reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel. We ate at the Olive restaurant one night which was fantastic the quality and presentation of the food was outstanding. Same prices as a good restaurant back in Australia but well worth the money. The buffet breakfast is the best I have seen anywhere. If anyone complains about the variety there is seriously something not right. I had a different breakfast every morning and still did not run out of options.

What to say about the pool? Oh my gosh it is stunning!! 3.8kms to swim in. Not too shabby. Staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcomed.

The infinity pool bar is fantastic even though their cocktails are almost same price as Australia once the tax is added. Did not stop us from drinking there though.

Here is my only con of our stay. A wedding is taking place here and began yesterday running over 4 days. The resort pool, beach and other areas have been totally taken over by the event of over 300+ guests. There is music blaring all day and into the night too loudly over the whole resort with total disregard for other paying guests. The peace and quiet and serenity has gone and I now feel like I am at a teen music event in Ibiza with the bass beat thumping underfoot and the PA announcements that can be heard in Patong! Had we not been flying home this evening I would have checked out and gone to another resort. Whilst I understand that this and other events is cash in the bank for the resort I do think other guests comfort should not be sacrificed. In future I will be emailing such resorts to make sure that my peaceful holiday is uninterrupted. I am not a whinger, but this place was chosen due to its remote and quiet location and ambience. Patong in Phuket was quieter.

Sad that my last day here at the JW Marriott has been spent in my room (and music still loud through closed doors) you would have to be here to totally appreciate my gripe. A pity that my concerns were not addressed by management face to face so any apology here on Tripadvisor would be a waste of time.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here at the end of last year, we had the best time. The surroundings were relaxing and you didnt have trouble finding a quite area to sunbathe.
Thw rooms were lovely and the bed super comfortable. We had slight problems witht the floor boards on the balcony but these were fixed no problem. The balcony is a good size and a nice place to read a book or share a drink with your party.
We went bed and breakfast and walked down the drive to get tuc tucs into the centre and eating out was so worth it.
When in khao lak ask the taxi driver to take you to joes steak house it is without doubt thw best steak we have ever eaten. The discovery cafe also does wonderful food!
Very much enjoyed our stay here and will be back.

We stayed here for two weeks in a room with direct pool access. That was a wonderful time we have fully enjoyed. Every morning started with an excellent breakfast - Western, Thai , Indian and Chinese food was offered. Lots of fresh fruits and fresh smoothies. Our waiter "Tin" from Waterfront restaurant was a perfect guy for all questions we had. He spoke excellent Englisch and also German. Of course all the others unnamed waitress also made the stay an amazing experience. We laughed a lot and made many jokes together. Always very friendly and humorous. They helped to forget to think about work and any other problems.
Actually there is no need to leave the property to search for other restaurants, as there are various kind on the property existing.
Every morning our "family" get bigger. We got lovely towel folded animals each day from Mrs. Lalana. Thanks a lot!
The pool actually surrounded the complete property with a total length of more than 3.8 km. Two pool bars made the stay within the pool very enjoyable and please dont forget to check out the cocktails.
The spa area offers all kind of massage and other beaty feature a man never would have dreamt off. Yes not cheap, compared with the massage you could on the left or right side of the beach next to the hotel, but the spa is any penny woth you paid for. For exercising you could use the long sandy beach for or the fitness center with usefull machines and a gymnastic room.
Wifi acces was a little poor but acceptable all over the area. Lan in the room was working perfect.
Summarizing we have to say it was more than a perfect stay. We would do it again.

Room Tip: Choose a room with direct acces to the pool on the fountain side, which have a little gorden before...

We purchased a coupon deal for this place after a recommendation of another family member so we had the free breakfasts, 2 free meals, cocktail and massages etc.
This place had that "wow" factor for us especially as they upgraded us for free to a poolside room. The walk from reception to some rooms is a very long walk.
A number of posters have mentioned maintenance issues but this is one big resort and they are constantly repairing, painting, gardening etc. Did it affect our holiday in any way ...NO.
I am not picky enough to get fazed by a scratch or wobbly board somewhere but consider the overall picture and whether the establishment is doing something daily to mend, touch up etc.
they not only do your room but call past later in the day to see if you need anything, like extra water or toilet paper etc.
Breakfast was a huge buffet selection catering to Asian and western and european tastes as is from 6.30 to 11am indoors or outdoors. they will also make drinks, omlettes, eggs etc to order.
Also they didn't seem to police the take-out amounts too heavily based on the gargantuan amounts taken out by one elderly couple that would have covered lunch and dinner and snacks for the day.
there is a 3km pool which snakes throughout the resort with a couple of swimming pool areas to cater for larger numbers. Some of the ground floor units had perspex childproof fencing at the end of the deck, whilst others had gates with a kiddie gate leading through a very short garden to pool. We ate in both the Mediterranean and Thai restaurants on site which were very good we found.
There are four restaurants (beach huts) open outside the Hotel on beach as at 11.5.14 and three outside main entrance (1 italian and two thai).
The hotel runs a shuttle to both the town and the market and the cost was THB100 return per person which for two was no dearer than a taxi. taxis are just outside main entrance or the consierge will arrange for you.
Tours can be arranged through the hotel or the beach huts and so can laundry.
The hotel even has two ATM's on premises.
they have a kids centre plus 8ball room, table tennis tables and a deli on premises.
The Spa is very professional and is a big complex.
Just outside the entrance of the hotel is a small mini mart for those essential beer or Sang Song supplies or coke.

As mentioned before this is one of the few "Wow" places we have stayed as we do tend to tour around rather than stay in one place for any length of time, but after ten nights we could have stayed longer.
First clean beach & water i have seen in Asia since Maldives in 1988

Loved it !

Room Tip: The poolside rooms with the decking are great

My husband & I were looking forward to a relaxing holiday, we were not disappointed.
The breakfasts were amazing. The various restaurants on site were also very good.
Rooms were lovely, slightly tired looking but it looked like that was being addressed with refubs going on.
If your looking for a total chill holiday with good service, then look no further!

Stayed here nearly a year back and it was a wonderful experience. Went with family and had take 3 rooms in all .Well away from the hustle of Phuket which is what we wanted... the rooms were very appointed and service was what you would expect at a Thai property. We did have issues with the hot water in just 1 room for 3 days of the 5 days of our stay, but that was duly compensated by the duty manager with a wonderful dinner at the restaurant. The little hotel boat going around with cold drinks was a great idea. The breakfast was exceptional in terms of choice as well.
