“Relaxed tropical Oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We went for our wedding anniversary and from the time we were picked up from the airport the whole trip was amazing. Checking in was very good we were presented with cold wash clothes and a cool drink then shown to our lagoon villa. It was so much more than I expected it was huge and beautifully decorated. The grounds of the resort were wonderful and very well set out the restaurants had great food and the staff were very helpful and attentive. We had a special dinner arranged for our anniversary and they set up a private area and even presented us with a cake from the staff. This a place you go to relax and and enjoy the sun shine both practical for couples and families. The whole feeling of the resort is very special including the lovely baby elephant that comes around in the mornings and afternoons I feed her bananas every day and she kisses your hand she is very gentle and her handler is very good with her this just adds that special touch to the resort it is a tropical oasis. this is the kind of resort where you don't need to go anywhere. The biggest decision of the day is which sun longe will I sit on by the pool or the beach and where will we eat today. Everything you need is here. Will be definitely be going back

Room Tip: If you can go the extra cost I would stay in a pool villa

We stay last week with another couple and we had a Deluxe Poolside Room. From the very smooth check-in to check-out 8 days later our stay was all we could have wanted. A great start to the day with a fantastic buffet breakfast and from those who complain about it, what do you eat at home, I ask. The Bamboo provided excellent choices for lunch and then having a wonderful choice from 3 different restaurants for dinner was lovely as well. We didn't get to experience The Terrace as that proved difficult to find as we were staying on the otherside of the resort. The pool we used was very well kept. Our Luxury Escapes voucher provided us with Spa Treatments and a Cooking class which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. I agree with another review that some entertainment at night would be nice but on Friday night we were treated to Traditional Thai Dancing/Music but as we were sitting inside our view was somewhat limited. An area visible to all would have been better but this is just a small complaint. And maybe more than just one nights entertainment would have been better. The resort is very easy for those with disabilities to negotiate and the walkin pool was very welcomed by my hubby who has some difficulty using pool ladders. All in all it was a very enjoyable stay, Moo, Nico, Pia, Prawn & Sa very friendly, always smiling and extremely welcoming. I should have taken more noticed of staff names because they were ALL so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. I would not hesitate to stay there again and if you want a really relaxing getaway then this is it. We paid for an extra late checkout and had no trouble arranging that. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for anyone.

We are currently staying at the Pullman and are really enjoying ourselves. When we arrived we had a lovely greeting and the gentleman at check (Oli) in was really helpful and explained everything we needed.

We are in a deluxe room (the most basic) and it is spacious and well laid out. The facilities in the room are excellent and so far room service have kept it immaculate. The little things are taken care of such as free WiFi, free water and the maid lighting a lemongrass infuser to keep the room smelling nice.

The pool and grounds are well maintained. The pool itself is huge with special areas for children meaning that it never feels congested and noisy. The beach is a long stretch of pristine sand and the pool boys are eager to find you a lounger and sort it out just to your liking.

We have seen previous reviews that made negative comments about service but we have found the staff to be nothing but a delight.

Our only niggle is that it is evidently getting to the end of the season and some of the little bits of maintenance, that are inevitable, need doing. The decor and soft furnishings in the rooms could maybe do with a freshen up as well. Despite this everything is comfortable, spotless and functions well.

From the moment you drive down the driveway you know you are somewhere special. This resort offers everything. We had the deluxe pool villa and it was an absolute indulgence. I swam every morning and most evenings in our private pool. The hardest decision we had to make each day was where we going to have dinner. The resterants are all of the highest quality, personally we loved Bamboo as we could sit on the beach front while enjoying their lovely food. The staff at the resort are all wonderful. If you are looking for somewhere away from the hustle and bustle it is the place to go.

This is the 4th time we have stayed in this resort over the last 7 years. During that time it has grown very large! Our friends who met us here surprised us with an upgrade to a villa which was quite delightful! It was lovely having our own pool although we did make use of other pools in the resort as well. For us there are many attractions in Khao Lak, these include this resort, the township and the delightful people in this part of the world. I love the way that Thai people we have met over the years teach us a few more words each time we are in Thailand.
Breakfast in the Terrace Restaurant was very special although we would like to see more shade provided for the outdoor area. We had a buffet dinner here one night and it was one of the most delicious meals I have ever had!
We appreciated the organized event for Earth Day, it was great to have participated in the planting of a tree.
There were many staff who were very friendly and helpful and I must thank Ying once again for the wonderful care she took cleaning our villa.
Now for the negatives and there are 2:
We had just come from The Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai and were horrified to see baby elephant Wandee being exploited for the entertainment of tourists. What people may not understand is that these baby elephants are literally torn from their mothers and then are forced to endure very cruel treatment in order to break them. I am aware that the resort does not own this elephant, however, they condone the cruel treatment of elephants by continuing to allow Wandee to be treated in this way. The way that Wandee rocks back and forth shows her distress - it is not an 'elephant dance' as her mahout would have us believe.
Secondly, we were checking out on Friday and because our flight was leaving late at night, I went to reception on Tuesday evening to ask for a late checkout on Friday. I said that I was prepared to pay. I was asked to return and make the request on Thursday evening, at which time I was told that the checkout time was 12.00 and they would not negotiate. Our friends had left 2 days earlier and they were told that they could have until 2.00 pm on their checkout day because the room needed to be prepared for guests arriving. This was patently untrue - the room wasn't cleaned until the following day and there was still no one in it when we left 2 days later. We were offered a shower - in the Spa area, before we left. The woman who worked there was clearly displeased that we were using the facilities. We actually felt humiliated! This was made worse by the fact that there was no hot water and only one towel for the two of us to use. Half a tube of leftover shower gel had to suffice for the 2 of us!
Will we be back? Probably not. We are not prepared to support any establishment that puts the wants of tourists above the rights of animals for respect and prevention from cruelty. There are plenty of places that offer late checkouts and in the future, we will choose 1 of them.

My husband and I have just spent 2 weeks at this wonderful resort. We stayed in a Beach Front Lap Pool Villa, No. A1, just magnificent!! The decor was outstanding, the bed firm but very comfortable and the bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower was superb.
The service from all staff was exemplary along with the food in all 4 restaurants. One can chose from Thai, Italian, BBQ or Buffet venues and not be disappointed in any way.
The daily visit from the resident baby elephant Wandee was just the icing on the cake for us....she is so cute!!
Our thanks to Mit in the Terrace restaurant, he really looked after us and has a wicked sense of humor.
We booked our holiday through Luxury Escapes and got a great deal. We upgraded to beachfront and extended our stay by 3 nights. Everything our voucher promised was delivered without a problem. We will definitely return to this resort next year and hopefully we will once again be able to use Luxury Escapes with their wonderful value deals.

Room Tip: The beach front pool villas are the best A1,A2 A5,and A6 are one bedroom and A4 and A5 are 2 bedroom...

We have just returned from a 10 night package booked through Luxury Escapes, with our 2 children aged 8 and 11. I must say we were a little sceptical knowing that the resort had recently changed hands from Le Meridien to Pullman- however we were very pleasantly surprised! From the moment we walked into the lobby, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the resort. This continued throughout the stay- with beautifully well equipped villa (we stayed in a lagoon villa) and the amazing pools and white sandy beach. Most staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible, ( there were a couple of staff that seemed a little reserved- however I presume that this was due to language barriers). Highlights of the trip for us were;- Amazing food- the buffet breakfasts offered at Cafe Li Lawadee and The Terrace were of a very high standard- Bamboo offered a beautiful scenic spot to grab a delicious lunch, and our favourite was Baan Thai for amazing Thai Dinners. There was a great variety offered from each restaurant and as we had all meals included- this was fabulous value. The pools were a big hit with the kids, beautifully maintained and very clean. And Wandee the resident Elephant made this such a memorable place to stay. The visit by housekeeping to the villa in the evening was wonderful- we loved walking back into the villa to the fragrance of scented oil burners, fresh flowers and inspiring daily quotes. I have no complaints- and were thoroughly pleased with everything the resort had to offer.

We can't wait to return- However as it is under new ownership- I would like to see some suggestions taken on board while they are making their changes:- Some night time activities would be great, entertainment at the Thai Buffet one of the nights we stayed was great fun- we would love to see more of this. Also, some extra sun beds on the beach- or some restrictions for being able to reserve beds should be introduced. An extra outdoor washing line in the lagoon villa outdoor showers would be great-as we kept running out of room to hang wet bathers! And my husband is very fond of swim up bars- and although the Plunge Bar was very nice- an introduction of a swim up one would make him very happy!!! Upon check in- we were driven by golf cart to our villa and feel that Incorporating a tour through the resort would have been lovely addition, as it's such a large resort to explore, and would be a great way to show guests different accommodation options and resort facilities.

Tips for future guests:- make sure if you are on a Luxury Escapes Package- that you book your cooking class and massages early! We did, and thoroughly enjoyed them :) although the resort is super relaxing- try and explore some of the beautiful surroundings- we did the half day elephant bathing, the day trip to James Bond Island, a day snorkelling tour to the Surin Islands and a private driver to drive us into Patong Beach to soak up some of the Phuket atmosphere! The resort itself is about 1-2 hours drive from the tour destinations, but well worth it. We booked the tours through the tour office at the resort and found this very convenient- however after speaking to other guests- we found that these could also be booked through small tour companies in a Khao Lak for a cheaper price. Take advantage of Happy Hour from 4-6 at the Plunge Bar. Try a beach massage- if you turn right and head down the beach - the first massage hut girls are amazing- they offer massage, hair braiding- and laundry all at a fraction of the costs you would expect to pay. And a car trip to the local Binyang market which runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays was a great place to visit to purchase some gifts for friends and family back home!

I would like to say a very special thank you to Kati (Baan Thai and Babysitting), Kim (from Bamboo), Jack- (Villa Supervisor), and Run (driver) for making this a wonderful holiday for our family. We hope to see you all again very soon!

Room Tip: If you can afford the extra- upgrade to the pool villa they looked amazing :)
