“Great place to unwind”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed at the Pullman Katiliya Khao Lak for 10 nights in early December 2014 and it was the most delightful and relaxing place we have ever been to. The resort is a little over an hour by car from Phuket airport and once you are inside the gates there's no need to leave. We booked a beachfront pool villa which was very private and included a king size bed, enormous bathroom, plunge pool with jacuzzi, day bed and outdoor furniture and sun lounges. The bathroom has a very large bathtub, two sinks, indoor shower and also an outdoor rain shower. Plenty of wardrobe space and more towels than we could possibly use. The complimentary high speed internet was better that we have at home! The pools and grounds are maintained to a very high standard. Breakfasts for villa residents is at The Terrace restaurant with spectacular views over the bay. Not all restaurants were operating all the time of our stay but there was always a choice of two for lunch and dinner. The Chef who conducted our Thai cooking class was entertaining and a beautiful personality to add to the fun of the afternoon! Food in all restaurants is plentiful and excellent quality. The staff are all very friendly and speak English well. The beach itself is a little piece of paradise with fine golden sands and warm water. Massages are available in the Spa and there are a couple of fitness centres in the resort. The Pullman Katiliya exceeded our expectations and we would have no hesitation in recommending this resort.

Room Tip: If making this reservation for a special occasion, book the best you can afford, you won't regre...

We are currently staying at this delightful hotel.we are 5 adults and 5 children. The staff are very attentive, the hotel grounds are very beautiful with excellent pool and beach facilities. The rooms are comfortable and well furnished. The towels are not up to standard.

The buffet breakfast is excellent but the excessive prices in the hotel restaurants drove us to eat all our meals at the smaller local restaurants on the beach and in Khao Lak town.

An excellent range of activities is available but all are at extra charge but should be included in the hotel tariff which is quite high

Room Tip: The best rooms are the private villas but they are very expensive. We are in room 385 which is very...

We had the opportunity of staying for a few days at the Pullman in Khao Lak. The resort is located about 90 minutes drive north of Phuket airport and is very easy to get to. Once we arrived and checkedin, we spent the days lazing around the many pools or eating at the restaurants located on the premises. The Bamboo restaurant was located on the beachfront and the cafe where breakfast was served daily was directly under the lobby. The rooms were lovely, bright and we had a quiet pool view. The bathrooms were clean, the showers were great and it was easy walking around the resort to either the Spa, the beach or to the various restaurants. On the beach, we had some massage services on offer about 5-10 minutes walk away. These were considerably cheaper than the hotel spa and were pretty nice. All in all, we would surely come back again. Everyone was polite, courteous and it was a wonderful stay.

We checked into the Pullman resort on 14/12/2014 for a 7 night stay as part of our honeymoon to Thailand. We are currently 2 nights into our stay and just felt that we had to leave a review as we are so happy to have selected this resort.

We opted for a Katiliya villa, which is most definitely excellent value for money. The villa has its own pool which is much larger than we had expected. It runs almost the full length of the villa and includes an area for sun loungers in the water and has an outdoor shower. The king size bed is an excellent size and the pillows are undoubtably the biggest and most comfy pillows we have experienced in a foreign hotel! The villa has a large bathroom complete with his and her sinks, and very large bathtub, walk in rain shower and toilet. The layout of the rooms means that the his and hers wardrobes can be opened from both the bathroom on one side and the bedroom on the other side, a small thought which makes a big difference when getting ready.

The resort itself is very large with about 7 swimming pools and 7 restaurants and bars. Given that this is currently 'high season' the resort does not feel busy due to its size and excellent layout. The lobby area and restaurants are all very well maintained and have a very elegant look about them. The grounds are also exceptionally well kept by the friendly team of gardeners. Due to the size of the resort there is a team of buggy drivers who are always available to pick you up and drop you off wherever you are around the resort at only a moments notice!

The beach is lovely and has very calm and warm water. It really does look like paradise!

All the staff on the resort are always very friendly with big smiles. The level of English spoken by the staff is very very good. We have not once had a problem communicating with anyone.

All in all we would very much recommend this hotel to anyone, whether you are single, a couple or a family there really is something for everyone here.

I have only ever visited a couple of hotels which I would honestly say I would actively seek to return to, and this is definitely one of them!

Room Tip: Katiliya Villa's. Villa F3 is extremely private on the outskirts of the resort so very quiet.

We had a wonderful stay at the Pullman resort in Khao Lak. Pullman apparently took over Katliya resort and the Meridien hotel and merged them less than a month ago. We stayed at one of the Katiliya villas with an ocean view and a private pool. We upgraded from the garden view which were not very private as a lot of plants are not fully grown yet. The Ocean view villa was fantastic. Great views and very private. The villa hosts (Rose and Jeck) were very professional and helpful. Top grades for the them as well.
We also enjoyed the fact that the hotel was quite spread out as you felt that there weren't many guests. It is a very quiet and peaceful resort which is just want we needed. There are lots of activities to enjoy at the resort (sports, cooking classes...). The beach is also very nice with not a lot of guests or tourists. The only downside is the restaurants which is as always overpriced in hotels. But the quality of the Thai restaurant food was disappointing. There are some Thai restaurants on the same beach. One is close to the villas but was not that good. The White Sand Beach had some good restaurants and was about a five minute drive.

Like many others that stayed at Pullman Khao Lak just after the change over from Le Meridien to Pullman, we purchased an 8 night Luxury Escape package and upgraded to the pool villa (the minimum room type that you would stay in). The resort is excellent, in a wonderful part of Thailand. It is around an hour and twenty from Phuket airport.

There is a lot to like about the resort. These are our highlights:

* The pool villa is great: room is large with more than adequate block out blinds, great sized bathroom, indoor and outdoor shower, very comfortable bed and a day bed that is made up as a single bed for a child from 3 to 17
* The private pool in the pool villa: outstanding size pool, private and surrounded by generous sized grounds within the villa walls (the set up was perfect for us to put 3 year old Duke to bed and relax by the pool)
* Within the villa grounds (which were very large and impeccably maintained by the many friendly gardeners) you have the choice of three or four pools, as well as the magnificent long beautiful uncrowded beaches and warm Indian Ocean (two sunbathing pontoons are moored 25 meters from the shoreline)
* Great breakfasts: it appears that breakfast is only available at the main buffet, but make sure that you try the breakfast in the gorgeous setting of the Terrace Restaurant on the beach at the southern end of the resort
* The spa: Honey in particular was outstanding, but they all are really. They throw in 8 massages in the Luxury Escape package, but we had the hot stone massage (great) and a facial (possibly the best ever)
* Great service: Everyone was truly wonderful through the resort, although we have to send specific a call out to Tum (she was magnificent)
* The Kids Club was really well staffed (they are all great), clean and very well equipped - the problem is that if your child is under the age of 4, you need to either stay with them or get a babysitter (somewhat defeating the purpose). We hired a lovely babysitter for 3 mornings and she did exactly the same care work as the other five girls in the Kids Club - when we pointed out to reception/management that it was a little unnecessary, they simply stated that it is the rules
* Wendee the 2 year 5 month elephant: she turns up to breakfast and pre-dinner drinks, gently takes apples, bananas and pineapples from little ones (and big kids) and sweetly gives you kisses on the arm
* The food overall was good (although you feel limited after 8 nights/days of breakfast, lunch and dinner - as 2 of the resort's restaurants were closed)

The resort provides an affordable (subject to Pullman potential repricing), easy relaxing family vacation. If you want to chill and enjoy the pools and beaches, this is the place (and we will return to Khao Lak for that reason).

The flip side is that it is a long way from other attractions in Phuket (remember this for travellers with young kids - a 9 hour flight turns into an 11 hour commute, so consider a first night in Phuket before heading up to the quieter Khao Lak). Khao Lak itself is a small town with a a strip of restaurants and souvenir vendors. It is a minimum of 2 hours from where the boats take off from Phi Phi, for example, so maybe consider this location as one of two parts of your Thailand holiday (as we did, staying also at the superb Paresa).

Room Tip: The pool villa is a minimum type of room that you would want. Looking around the resort, the base l...

We booked this holiday thru Luxury Escapes and thought it was a too good to be true kind of deal, it was an 8 night 9 day deal where we upgraded for the villa lagoon option, the villa's are very large and comfortably fit 3 Adults with still more room so you didn't feel like you were sitting on top of each other. You have a very large bathroom with bath and shower and an outdoor shower if required, two sinks on either end and plenty of cupboard / draw space to unpack your luggage so you don't feel like your living out of your suitcase. There is also an outdoor day bed along with two beach / pool style chairs, this was beautiful to sit at as we were along the lagoon which has ducks and black swans swimming around.
The room we stayed in was a very easy 2min walk to all amenities and the beach was even closer. We stayed at the end of November 2014 start of December 2014 and the weather was great with just a few showers in the late afternoon towards the end of our stay but this did not hamper our trip at all. The resort is very large and private and has beautiful grounds which are lovely to explore / walk thru and of course the beautiful beach that just seems to go on forever, there seems to be a pool at every corner along with one that has two slides so there was never a shortage of places to swim if you didn't want to swim in the ocean. The food was always great and the buffet breakfast was one of the best that we had seen anywhere, there is a lot of variety for all meals so you never felt like there was nothing that you wouldn't like. All the staff we dealt with were nothing but attentive and helpful and always asking if we needed anything more and it just shows how lovely the Thai people are. There is also a baby elephant called Wawee that walks around the resort with her trainer and she is the most sweetest creature, she loves attention and to give kiss's and if you want to give the trainer a donation you actually give the money to Wawee who then gives it to her trainer, we never saw her mistreated and we saw her often around the resort. This holiday for us was for a carefree relaxing time so if you are wanting to be doing lots of trips and shopping this is not the resort for you unless you want the drive of over an hour back to the heart of Phuket. The resort has been taken over by the Pullman group and yes I guess there are some places that look a little dated but this did not bother us nor did we actively look for these kinds of faults, we could tell from what we saw on our last day at reception that they were going over the resort and looking at things that they need to update ect This is a beautiful resort that I truly loved and without hesitation would go back to in a heart beat.

Room Tip: The lagoon villas are spectacular and well worth the upgrade, its like a little house all of your ow...
