“A great way to start and finish a safari.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2012

We stayed here for the first and last nights of our Elewana Sky Safari, as Elewana own this and all of the other properties on the safari. The Plantation Suites are enormous and positioned throughout the coffee plantation. The suites beautifully use glass set with coffee beans as decorative features. As an Elewana guest all meals and alcohol are included, as is butler service. Denis, our butler went out of his way to make sure that every possible things was done for us.
Overall I would recommend this lovely place to anyone wanting to start and finish a safari in style.

Room Tip: I think that any plantation suite would be good, but we stayed in Suite 29 and it was very private.

Arusha Coffee Lodge offers upmarket lodgings set in beautiful surroundings ona coffee estate just North of the city and conveniently close to Arusha domestic Airport.
The menu selection is good and the food acceptable albeit a little pricy, this establishment is catering to the upmarket foreign tourist market after all, service is very good and the setting and atmosphere fantastic with impecably maintained facilities.

We stayed here for one night only. The atmosphere is very friendly and professional. Food is good and reasonably priced. But, as it is the case with many other comparable places as well, unfortunately there are almost no African dishes on the menu. Our standard room was spacy and nicely furnished in a local style. For me being a private pilot, the sound/noise of the quite frequent small airplanes starting from the nearby airport was no problem but it would probably disturb people who are rather sensitive. The pool is rather on the small side.

I would not recommend staying there for long but it provides a very convenient stopping place on the way to more exciting areas. Rooms are fine and the food is OK.

We stayed here for 2 nights before our safari . Not much to do in Arusha but it was nice to just relax in a nice hotel after a long trip. We had a suite. Beautiful room but it was far from the lobby. My husband had problems walking on the gravel road. No wheelchair access.
We had a nice tour of the city, walked the public market with our safari driver.Enjoyed it.!
We went back again for 1 night after our safari . This time they gave us a room closer to the lobby. It was easier for my husband. We really appreciate what Theo , manager,
did for us .He let us use the room until we were ready to leave the next day.
Service is excellent. Very freindly staff. We will recommend Arusha Coffee Lodge to our friends.

The room was ok. The food was horrid. Even the breakfast. And the food is expensive. Our safari company suggested this hotel. The bathroom was acceptable. The 'special coffee' soaps fell apart as we used them; the shower leaked onto the floor. Why spend the money?

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of our safari, after having spent the first night in Dar (see the review of the Hilton Double Tree). Frankly, I have no clue why we stayed the night in Arusha at the coffee lodge, unless the safari organizer has some kind of deal. Although the lodge is fine and we have no real complaints, it didn't really add to our experience, since there is nothing to see in Arusha in terms of culture or wild life (and we did take a taxi to try to "sight-see"). Hence you basically stay in a nice, yet secluded, resort with reasonable good food and accommodations, but you might as well leave out this stop and stay at a place where you see something!
