“fantastic tented camp!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

We stayed 1 night at the Ang'ata Camp and wish we had stayed longer! The tents were gorgeous and really comfortable. The staff provided hot water for our showers, and we had more than enough water. Obviously you can't expect to have amazing water pressure and unlimited hot water out in the middle of the Serengeti, but we were really surprised with how nice the bathrooms were in these tents - probably the best of all of the other places we stayed while on safari.

We loved the staff here. We wanted to hang out near the fire before dinner and they came to make sure everything was ok and brought us beers. After dinner while sitting around the fire several of them came to hang out with us and chat about working in the Serengeti.

The location of this camp was awesome. Walking back to our tent after dinner, there were tons of gazelle grazing in the tall grass, and overnight we heard tons of lions and hyenas around the tent.
I highly recommend this camp in the Serengeti!

This camp was a true tent camp in middle of Serengeti - middle of grassland and very close to all the actions. We spend 2 nights here. And our favorite. We were group of 6 occupying 3 tents. They had 4 other guests while we were there. They wait on you hand and foot with brightest smiles. Steve and his staff are the sweetest. We all loved these guys.

They set the table for your group and your guide. The meal is served buffet style. It was very tasty. Always a soup to start the dinner with, then, the main meal. It is amazing what came out of the tiny cooking tent. We came back for hot lunch and it was a nice break from those box lunches. Coming back for lunch was a snap plus you get the comfort of your own bathroom! We already had 3 box lunches before this and I was getting tired of them.

The camp is very rustic yet very cozy! We had all the comfort of home in middle of the amazing Serengeti. The water for the sink, shower, and toilet are hauled in from somewhere else, heated, and with a bucket, they manually fill the hot and cold water holding containers outside the bathroom. They provided bottled water for your teeth brushing. One of our party used up all the water to wash her hair in the morning and they refilled it for her shower after our return from a game drive. I do have to warn you, the very low flow from the shower head is something to get used to. But, we overlook that. We were grateful to have a shower in middle of nowhere!

We heard hyena, leopard, and lions very close to our tent. Around sunrise, the birds start their chatter.

We were so sad to leave this place.

I had never stayed in a tented camp before. That being said, all my expectations were met and more. The Ang'ata Tented Camp in the Serengeti gave one a real sense of being in Africa in a most comfortable and hospitable way. The tents were large and comfortable - slept extremely well both nights - and the ensuite facilities were outstanding. Hot water for the shower was provided in the evening - after returning from the afternoon game drive and before dinner. There were two "public tents" - one for dining and one for lounging (with coffee, tea, chocolate). Very comfortable and relaxing. Plugs for charging electronics were available in the lounge area. Steve, the manager, and his staff were extremely attentive to all of our needs and made every effort to make us all feel at home. The food - breakfast and dinner - was outstanding. The staff even baked a wonderful birthday cake for a member of our tour and they danced and sang in celebrating her birthday. A most enjoyable stay. A real taste of Africa and African hospitality.

We stayed one night in April, and found the camp to be exceptional. The tents are not that old, and the ensuite facilities (bathroom - sink, shower, and flushing toilet) were clean and comfortable. It was our second experience in a tented camp, and it far exceeded our expectations and was the best one we stayed at. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and service was excellent, as was the food. Listening to the sounds of the Serengeti at night was definitely the highlight.

Ang'ata amp Serengeti is the perfect setting for all the ones who want to be in contact with nature yet enjoying a great degree of comfort. It's made of 12 large tents, each divided in sleeping area and bathroom area and each with its own verandah. The toilet is a proper flush toilet and the bucket shower has proper mixer (no chains to pull...). There's a mess and lounge area with heavy wood furniture and sofas, the ambience recalls the safari atmosphere of the past. No plugs in the tents, but plenty in the mess tent. Power comes from solar panels. Staff is extremely attentive and friendly, these guys work hard to provide great service right in the middle of nowhere, food is good and varied, considering the remote location. We stayed at Ang'ata Serengeti during or last trip to Northern Tanzania last March. I have been travelling extensively in this region and have a clear picture of most permanent and semi-permanent camps in the area and I must tell that the overall quality has gone beyond expectations. Both Serengeti and Migration Ang'ata Camps may appear to a discerning eye of a slightly lower specification than similar facilities run by &Beyond or Asilia in the same area, but difference in quality is almost invisible, while there's a very high difference in price, Ang'ata being far better value for money. We divided our stay in the Serengeti eco-system between Ang'ata Serengeti and Ang'ata Migration which is located further South-West, in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Lake Ndutu region and the combination proved extremely successfull as most of the herds were between Naabi, Shamba la Maharagwe and Ndutu. It was nice gaving 20+ elephants around at breakfast time, as well as impalas just on our doorstep in the evening.
I recommend both Ang'ata Camps to all the ones seeking for a semi-permanent, comfortable camping.

We stayed here 3 nights as part of our safari in northern tanzania. This is a midclass tented camp in the seronera valley (Serengeti NP) with a total of 12 tents, all with private shower, sink and flushing toilet. Batteries could be charged in the lounge tent, electric power only for the light, you couldn´t use your hairdryer. Hot water for the shower will be provided after the afternoon game drive by the friendly staff. We use the breakfast box option, gives us more time in the wilderness. Lunch and dinner were exellent. For 2 nights we were the only guests in this camp, service was mediocre ( no cold drinks for lunch and dinner, no water in tent at lunch time for washing hands and no flush for toilet, no bottled water for teeht-brush, no shower gel). Drinks came long time after meals. These are no serious issues and could be fixed easily.

Unfortunately there are many tse tse flies in the area.

In the seronera valley you got the best chance to see lions and leopards, we saw one with 2 little cubs.

We would choose this camp again.
