“This is an oasis in a bustling town of Arusha”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

Mt Meru is a modern hotel with all the convenience western travelers have come to take for granted. The staff are accommodating and represent the gracious nature of the Tanzanians well. Rooms are bright and beds are very comfortable. Food is quite good with ample variety. Showers are a pleasant full flow especially welcome post safari to weary dusty travelers. The lobby shop sells tanzanite jewelry at a reasonable price but there are other sources that might have higher quality stones. There is a coffee bar and full service liquor bar where you can enjoy a cocktail outdoors admiring the beautiful grounds that surroundd the hotel.

Room Tip: Suites provide you with an additional sitting room that comes with an additional twin size bed.

After crossing the border from Kenya, My safari group, Ranger Tours, dropped into Mt. Meru Hotel and treated us to a spectacular break from the stress of a long road trip. We dropped in during a meeting of some very high level US embassy lunch meeting. The place was abuzz with top military brass. We only stayed to eat lunch and wash up. My only gripe about this place was the awful food. The barbeque chicken, lamb and steak were overcooked, the desserts were dry and tasteless. Surely the brass would have chosen a better place had they also known in advance.

Room Tip: Specify single or double bed in advance.

Great classy and upscale hotel in Arusha. Food is excellent. Service good and facilities excellent. Very secure with noticeable security. Stayed twice at beginning and ending of Safari. Also used spa And massage was very good. Yes this hotel is a hotel and for many that's not a good thing. But when compared to the other places to stay before.and after your journey this is without a doubt the very best.

Ths is a good place to start or end your safari experience in Tanzania. Whilst neither quite African or main stream 'european' the hotel provides all the amenities that you could desire and we enjoyed the company of really and genuinely helpful enthusiastic staff.

I stayed at the Mount Meru Hotel Arusha on 02 Sep, 2012 and the experience was first-class. The service is impeccable and the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the gardens are well manicured. The view from the rooms is breathtaking. The food is superb, the hotel bar is cozy and well stocked. I could not find any fault with this hotel. I was very impressed.

Room Tip: they have mountain-facing and garden-facing rooms. Its hard to choose as both views are breathless.

Honestly was not expecting something like this on arrival but it was a nice way to decompress from the very long flights and make ready for our Tanzania safari/adventure. Spotless, modern, welcoming staff and every amenity I could think of (and was not expecting and did not "need"!) Our only checked bag (with the toiletries, antibacterial hand wipes and gel, insect repellant) didn't arrive until 7 days into our adventure but this and every lodge/accommodation we stayed at provided shampoo and soap/bath gel) so we were never without! Thankfully we never encountered any mossies so did not need the repellant any way.

If you are coming here for a business trip, they will have everything you need so you can pack very light. If you are staying here before or after climbing Kili you will feel welcomed and very well taken care of.

Very much like any nicer hotel you will find in any major city anywhere in the world. Bedding was fresh, soft and was SO comfortable. We only had time for breakfast the next morning but it was very good and plentiful. Could not have asked for more.

Do not worry about the food at this hotel. It is just fine so eat and enjoy your short time here.

Very good place to stay if you have a conference at the nearby Arusha international conference centre which is a waking distance. Very clean room. Comfortable pillows and bed. Refrigerator is however not stocked which is strange.free and fast wifi. Very good restaurant. Floor boards in the room very slippery whether you have shoes on or not. The elderly should be wary of this. Asked for iron and ironing board but never got it. It is overall a pleasant and safe place to stay.
