“Good trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

We contacted various companies for the safari and we finally chose Active Tanzania Adventures.
They provided us a great itinerary and hotel choices and compared to other ones it was the cheaper one.
We were travelling in a vehicle well equipped but maybe a bit old and not very well mantained ( you could find inside the vehicle broken things etc etc...) but we did not complain at all about that. Our guide was more a driver than a guide, since we did not get much explanations about the landscapes, geography, animals etc etc He was good at driving and spotting animals around the parks.

We were a bit confused the last day, since the driver asked us if we had fillen up a questionnaire about the company ( to review it) and if we received another paper about tipping the guide. But the company never gave us these documents so we had to tell the guide that we had no idea about these papers. In overall it was a good experience. For some excursions we had to wait and had some delays, but again we did not complain. In general it was a good trip.

“Kili & safari”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

We had Kilimanjaro trek followed by 9 days safari with 6 people organized by Active Tanzania. Friendly and helpful e-mail communication with Mary during the planning was amazing, far more personalized than other's companies 'standard replies'. During the trip the people from the office were extremely helpful, especially Mary and Thomas. They organized one of our baggage, which was lost by the international airplane company, to the Serengeti for us. Also helped us with cheap hotels and airplane tickets bookings after the safari, when we went to Zanzibar, etc. The guide for Kilimanjaro (Mrope) was very good. Sleeping porters in the eating tent on Kilimanjaro was unpleasant, eating next to porters shoes and socks is something to avoid in the future. The safari driver-guide was just doing his job, yes, we saw all the big five, but perhaps he was too conservative for us. Safari program and equipment was very good. The mining excursion after the safari was cool, it was real life, not fake as Maasai people at the Ngorongoro. Would recommend for people looking for extremes. Overall, it was great value for money. Would certainly recommend them!

“Mnt. Kili”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

It was a great trip. Despite technically easy climb travel was very interesting. Africa is a whole another world. Besides, we had good guides. They could tell us everything that interested us: from flora and fauna to the history of Tanzania. I think it's my main travel experience for the year :)
Especially because it was our honeymoon. AT helped us to plan our trip so that it's memorable.

“Kili & Safari”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We had made a planning to do a partial trek on the Kilimanjaro followed with a budget safari.
We were very happy with the organisation of our holiday, the trek on the Kili was very good and the guide also gave us a lot of information on the plants, birds, etc on the mountain.
With the safari we combined different parks which gave us a good mixture of animals & different scenery. Our guide (Emanuel) was super: made sure we had a good camping ground (sometimes different facilities), was a brilliant spotter of wildlife and learned us a lot about the animals. The cook was also very good and there was enough variation in the food.
We also focused mainly on morning drives because we could see more active wildlife, with the absolute highlight of our journey the last morning in Serengeti where we saw lions hunting wildebeest, a leopard with cubs and a cheetah learning her cubs to hunt.
The organisation was also very flexible for our schedule and helped us out with information and planning of other parts of our journey (busses, boat, hotel reservations)
