“Great oasis in Arusha”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

We stayed at Aihadi Lodge at the end of of Tanzanian holiday before our road trip back to Nairobi. This little oasis in a residential area of Arusha is lovely. If you are looking for somewhere to lay your head on a comfy pillow in Arusha with great food and real people this is the place you should stop.

As you may have read below about the few problems with water and electricity, but this is Africa, if you are expecting everything to work all the time, you are holidaying on the wrong continent.

This is a wonderful place with clean, comfortable lodges and the staff make you feel very welcome, especially the owner Erica. We wish we had stayed longer than one night, but we will return and spend longer there, because its worth it.

It has a lovely, clean swimming pool that we didn't use but did sit by the side for a spot of lunch.

Well worth a visit.

We arrived shortly after midnight after 29 hours of flying, and after driving down a rocky, slum-lined road, the gates opened to a nice lodge with bungalows. The room was clean and the screens worked, but there was no water. They also turn all their ouside lights off at night. I had to go tripping around in the dark to find someone to turn on the water for us so we could at least use the toilet and brush our teeth before going to bed. They turn off their water from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. so beware of that. They had a swimming pool that was constantly fed fresh water, so even in the extreme heat, it was chilly to jump into. Definitely refreshing! Other than that, it was a nice lodge and the food was decent. Just a little noisy with dogs and chickens, etc., because it is in the middle of Arusha.

Stayed two nights on the front end of our safari. Nice room, had to prewarm the shower water and only a curtain from bathroom to room, so little privacy. Nice meals, very quiet which was really nice. We were the only two guests there at the time. Arrived to a glass of juice which was refreshing.

After 8 days on Safari we ended up on Arusha, down a bumpy dirt road where we arrived at a gate that opened up to paradise. Bungalow type rooms spread out over a well manicured property with beautiful vegetation and a pool. The customer service was impeccable. Meals were included in our plan and they were a set menu and very tasty. Bed was comfortable and a fan was provided. We had laundry done as well and clean dry clothes were returned before our departure the next morning.

Pool steak beer friendly staff - they were so nice about our group being shall we say ... overzealous in our celebrating a successful climb! The bar stayed open until the morning after we came in from the town which was a lovely surprise - glorious breakfast french toast fresh juice and fruit breads and cereals - I enjoyed the pool and wifi is avvailable in the common areas (which are very cosy) and the staff were so lovely

I stayed at the Ahadi Lodge for one night before and one night after a Kilimanjaro trek. The service was excellent, and Erica our host made us feel comfortable and gave us a warm welcome back after the trek, and made sure everyone in the group was OK and had what we needed. The food was tasty, too. Rooms are basic but clean, and the grounds (pool, small front yard/garden) are nice. Location is good -- near central Arusha -- and safe, though there are some noisy dogs right outside the property that you can hear at night. All in all, a good home base for your trips around Northern Tanzania.

Stayed at Ahadi Lodge last February and was extremely pleased with the level of service and accommodation. When we arrived at 11pm the staff made sure that we were taken care of and fed! They had prepared a lovely meal just for the two of us. I am a vegetarian and they created a very creative menu which was so refreshing to see. The resort has a simple charm to it and the rooms are basic but very clean. Erica the owner, lives on site and is absolutely lovely. She was a wonderful hostess and I hope to see her again the next time I return to Arusha.
