“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

We stayed here during an expedition and found it to be very accomadating. The camp has basic rooms that cater for all your needs and there is a lot of space for camping also. There is space for you to cook and wash and there is always the option of getting the staff to cook for you. However it was the hospitality from the staff there that really makes it stand out. They were more than happy to help us from booking buses to giving us advice on the best places to go in the city. The short ride from the camp to the city meant that we were within reach of the hustle and bustle whilst staying in an area where we could sleep in great comfort! Overall a great place to stay.

Brilliant place out of site of the bustling city centre. The nearby supermarket and bar gives you all that is needed in walking distance but the city centre is only a short bus trip away (buses are extremely frequent and only cost around 15p). All that is needed is required such as hot showers, places to wash clothes and electricity. Our group decided to camp outside but the rooms looked nice as well. The staff are extremely helpful in aiding you with simple questions about Arusha all the way to coming to the bus station to get you on the right bus. Friendly atmosphere and a needed haven away from the fast pace of the city centre.

I was looking for an affordable place for my friends and I to stay in Arusha, and thanks to trip advisor, found Sakina Campsite. We stayed there for four nights before climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, two nights after the climb, and finally two nights after our safari. What a lovely home away from home we found; we were always happy knowing we would return there after our trips. The rooms are comfortable, but even more than that, manager Robert and housekeeper Jennifer always made sure we felt welcome and well taken care of. Robert is there to answer any questions and take care of any problems you have, help you set up trips or just to have a good chat. Jennifer makes you breakfast with a smile and charges a reasonable rate to thoroughly wash your clothes. It is nice to be in a quieter environment than in the city, and a fun, cheap dalla dalla ride will get you to town. If you don’t want to go into town for dinner, Robert will make you dinner or walk you safely to a nearby restaurant or hotel. I miss both of them, as well as the night watchman, and will definitely stay there again next visit. The only reason I gave it 4 vs. 5 stars is that the owner could upgrade the in-room showers in the main building for better hot water delivery, and maybe a new coat of paint in some of the rooms.

We stayed here during a company-run expedition and this lovely little place formed a sort of base camp for our visit whilst we went off around the rest of the country on a community project, safari and a climb up Kilimanjaro. Despite the less than welcoming appearance on the outside, once within its boundary walls, Sakina Camp was a little green haven in which we spent several nights camping in its garden. The accommodation was great for camping and from what I saw of it, the actual rooms were also well worth the price. Special mention has to go to the hospitality that the owner showed to our group - he tended all our needs; from allowing us space to cook and charge our cameras to helping us get buses into Arusha. All in all, a great little campsite which I thoroughly recommend!

Sakina Campsite is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are basic, but very clean and affordable. It's also a friendly little place if you're a solo traveler -- you can arrange to have meals at the Campsite and you'll frequently end up having dinner with numerous other people. Walking to town takes about 40 minutes, but the staff - particularly Robert - can arrange taxis for you as well as give you routes for the minibuses. Robert is an excellent manager and a lovely person. He was extremely friendly and kind, and would always go out of his way to be helpful in any way possible. He's also a great cook! I highly recommend Sakina.

Stayed at this campsite located conveniently just outside Arusha Away from the busy town. The quality of the accommodation is great for the price and the staff are very friendly and accommodating to any needs you may have. A great recommendation for those going on expeditions as I used this place to stay around Arusha when we had rest days for our own expedition. All in all, a solid and good choice.

The lady that owns this place is all that. She was so helpful and friendly. The house is comfortable and has all you need. The staff, who are local workers depending on this type of work, will cook you a great dinner served around a big table with whoever shows up. You can get tour pick-ups and whatever else you need from here. It is safe and has a bus at the door.

Room Tip: Any room is good. It is not a busy are and has a large yard and high fence keeping out road noise.
