“Taichung's best place to play water!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

Long fast water slide , big wave , long floating river around the park and more! You can spent all day long in their , and get ready to be tanning! Or you can live in the hotel which is in this amusement park for one night , next day you can go to the land park.

“great alternative to LeoFoo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

We had originally wanted to visit Leo Foo village but on advise of our minsu owners, we changed it to Yamay Recreation World. We opted for both Mala Bay and Discovery World and paid NT890 per adult. It was definitely worth it!!!

We started off with the Discovery World and our young children enjoy the rides. We proceed to the Water park which is just next door in the afternoon and was glad that the children area is shaded. They enjoyed the various slides as well as the huge wave pool!!!

No worries about food as there are many restaurants in the Discovery World.

“Mala Bay - great place to cool off for a day!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

We came expecting to stay for about half a day, and ended up playing until it was time to catch the last bus back to the train station. The park is about 15 minutes away from Houli train station (200TWD for the cab), or you can take the public bus from Fengyuan train station which will take about half an hour. If you have the Youth Travel Card (obtainable from Visitor Information Centres around Taiwan), you pay a reduced entry fee of 500TWD, which is much less than the original fee of 750TWD for adults. There is a variety of slides and activities that you can do here, which can occupy the entire day. I particularly liked the steep slides and the surf pool. To relax, there is a lazy river and a wave pool that generates waves every hour. They have an innovative e-band system on which you can store value and use to pay for items such as food and locker rental. Note that a swim cap is required, and costs 100TWD to buy if you do not bring your own. Food was edible but quite expensive, though I guess that is to be expected of any attraction. Definitely one of the highlights of Taichung!

“Good amusement park for kids”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

The amusement park was located at Hou Li, north of Taichung, around 45 minutes' drive to downtown. We purchased a package from Waugh Den Hotel in Taichung which included 4 entrance tickets to Yamay and return transportation by hotel shuttle. In terms of accessibility, there was a public bus stop right in front of the entrance. According to the hotel concierge, cost of taxi ride was around NT1200.
Yamay was divided into 2 parts, viz Malai Bay and Exploration Park. The former was a water park and would only operate in the summer season (April to October). The setting of the latter was basically that of a traditional amusement park - on one hand merry-go-round and mini ferris wheel for young children, on the other hand high-speed go kart, roller coaster and some exciting games for the adults. Live performances were scheduled every day.
The entrance fee was originally NT800 per person but actually you needed only to pay NT590 on the spot. Although we went there on Christmas Day, the weather was chilly and windy, only few visitors around. The eateries provided pasta, noodles, hamburgers, rice set meals at reasonable price (around NT200-300 per set). The washrooms were clean and tidy.
I found the nutcracker decoration and the Gaudi style ornamentation added European feel to this premises. Other than these just a traditional amusement park for fun. Recommended for families with children.
