Dirty, low class, no customer service. Hotel Managment will steal your money when you are asleep in the room.

The Tempus Hotel is a well run hotel that is very suitable for business travelers. The room rate includes a breakfast buffet with a wide variety of Western and Asian dishes. There a several restaurants within a short distance of the hotel for those who prefer to eat outside the hotel. The Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor serves excellent meals.

I stayed at the Tempus Hotel for nearly 2 weeks and I only have the highest of praise for their staff, rooms, amenities, location and cleanliness. There were amazing eateries (try the Japanese pizza just down the street - Amazing - the tea shop across the street, bodega around the corner and sashimi next to Japanese pizza). The Jade market is a 5 minute walk and getting around is incredibly easy with the taxis that queue up right outside. If you're worried about the language barrier, there is a cab driver, Johnny, who speaks great English and is often found outside the hotel.

The staff was incredibly helpful, all front desk and concierge spoke perfect English, were very knowledgeable about the city, culture, restaurants and wrote cards in Chinese if you were worried about communication once you left the hotel. The cleaning crew was impeccable and always left my room tidy and organized with fresh water.

The room itself was beautiful. Big comfy bed, huge relaxing tub, wonderful steam shower with plenty of toiletries. The pool was wonderful (they do mandate a swim cap) and the sauna and steam rooms were nice to have right next to it. Also the hot tub. The locker rooms are nice, but be prepared for a lot of nudity if that isn't already in your culture.

One service I would stay away from would be the spa. I went for a massage, manicure and pedicure. I was horrified and left in pain. The massage was very painful and when I asked him to be more gentle there was nearly no pressure. There was a severe language barrier and there was just no translating, but I think it was more a level of skill issue. The same man did my mani/pedi and it was very disappoint. No filing, just a trim...done with a razor. I left with rough edges, no cuticle treatment and it simply wasn't worth the money even at such discounted prices compared to the States.

Again though, one small downside to what was otherwise an incredible stay filled with great memories. Get yourself to a tea farm for a glorious hike, up to Taipei for a trip to the National Palace Museum and a bit more modern, young feel or down to Kenting for a beach day. Brave walking in traffic (the side walks are more for parking) and for goodness sakes, eat as many dumplings as possible!!!

The Tempus offers excellent customer services, the rooms are very clean and modern and the La Mode restaurant offer an excellent steak. You won't be disappointed and the staff will help get you anything you need from airport transportation to the cold medicine you forgot at home.

I find myself working in Taichung Taiwan and from a friends recommendation I switched hotels. I use to stay at Freshfield Hotel that is another 5 start hotel that I loved too, but it was more of a rural setting and very relaxing and quiet.. The Tempus is more in an urban area where there are many local English speaking stores and pubs. The food here is excellent, the staff is so nice and friendly. My maid always has a smile. The room is large and very comfortable. I have a very nice KingSize bed with clean sheets everyday. The bathroom is large and it has a super shower and bathtub. The AC works great . The hotel is attached to a health club with large swimming pool, amazing co-ed hot tub, steam room and sauna. Many of it's members speak English or are from the States, Canada or UK. My stay is 60 days and they give a discount to long stay customers. You will never go wrong staying here!!

This was the last Hotel on a business trip to China and Taiwan. Its a decent enough hotel but not as good as the others on the trip. Maybe it was the end of a long journey for us, but the hotel just felt a little tired.

Rooms are ok, very hard beds, but some corridor noise from other guests and even staff made me wake up a couple of times. May well be the best Hotel in Taichung, as some claim. I have nothing to compare it too, but we just found that it was ok.
