“nice island”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

took a ferry across to the island. There are many stores along the way and food carts. Best to cycle on island if you want to see more things. Its not really possible to explore the island by foot as some attractions on island are not near the terminal. Did not feel very special about the place but worth to take a look if you are in Kaohsiung.

“Rent a bike and spend your afternoon here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Rent a bike just outside of the XiZHiWan MRT station and take a ferry from gushan ferry station to ChiJin Island. Have a grill squid, bubble milk tea and ride your way along the CiJin coast while enjoying the sunset. Simply fantastic.

“Great place to spend a afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013 via mobile

We arrived by ferry, rent a bicycle to ride around the small island. Full of history and a lot of places to see, we stop by and watch many locals are playing kites, just sitting there to enjoy sunset, it was nice.

“Beaches and history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Had a great time on the beach - watch out though, the sand is extremely hot in the summer. Down by the water it is cooler so you can walk without shoes.

Some cool shops selling shells, great seafood market, also definitely visit the fort and lighthouse - they are a bit of a hike but well worth it.

I spent about 3-4 hours total, but you could easily spend the whole day here if you wander around, and rent a bike to go around the whole island (there is a path).

“So So....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

We arrived at the Chichin Island via ferry ($15 TWD/50 cents USD); the ferry last approximately 7-10 mins) Local foodstands and gift shops are already crowded with tourists and students sightseeing groups. The beach is under renovation and the sands appear to be man made. Some interesting spots are clearly marked on the display map; requires some hiking up the hill. I would not recommend any so called seafood restaurants which are located in the center of the town; although the seafood is fresh, however, it is way over priced. overall, we were disappointed. The place has potential to be a really nice tourist attraction, yet the half hearted renovation project really diminish value of this particular location.
