Nice rooms and excellent breakfast. Pool is a little small but nice and gym is below average with limited number of free weights and machines. Staff are friendly and helpful. Located right next to The Love River with long trails for walking or running. Several great restaurants nearby.

My family: 2 adults and 2 babies stayed here for one night over Mother's Day . weekend. Buzzing crowd, hotel is packed with ppl incl lots of Japanese tourists, as well as those who were there for a wedding at their banquet hall.

Hotel has been popular since the last decade but is still very dated despite recent renovation. Staff though are very friendly and polite.

We were told that our reserved superior rooms have been upgraded, however the actual rooms didn't look big at all, in addition they were very very humid with smell of mold, which I was allergic to.

Overall speaking, I would stay here only for the location. Otherwise I would not choose this hotel again.

Central location. Staff was great. Rooms are ok, nice water pressure in the shower. Room was clean with little desk area good internet. Only room issue, watch when you walk into bathroom, the marble floor is about 2" higher than the carpet, hurt my toes twice hitting it.

We were going to stay in Tainan, but ended up in Kaohsiung. We were impressed by Kaohsiung and the hotel. The hotel is right by the river and near many tourist attractions. Breakfast was awesome, and every dish we ordered at The Szechuan Court was delicious. Every hotel staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. The swimming pool and the sauna are not very big, but very clean and nice. We loved the great view from the hotel, the walk along the river, the beach, and seafood. It was a pity that we only had 1 day in Kaohsiung. We will definitely go to Kaohsiung and stay at the Ambassador hotel again.

Room Tip: River view and higher floors

It's good value for money, even during the long weekend of Easter and Ching-Ming Festival. The pluses are:

- convenient location; not too far from the Sanduo Shopping District where Sogo. Mitsukoshi, Far Eastern (NTD120 for a taxi ride) are; it's just about a 15-min walk to the nearest subway station (City Council); and is next to the Love River which is perfect for a leisurely walk in the evening; nearby within walking distance there are a few casual restaurants (NTD100 or more per stir-fry dish) and local breakfast places (for soy bean milk and deep fried dough, etc.); the Liuhe Tourist Night Market is just one subway stop away.

- professional and courteous staff

- well-maintained - the rooms and bathrooms are slightly "old-styled", but in good condition in general, with all the amenities including slippers; even the city-view rooms are very open; free WiFi that works well.

- good bakery downstairs - the hotel cake shop has very good bread and cakes if your room rate does not include breakfast.

The only minus for me is:

- the plumbing system; every time we flush the toilet or turn on the water faucet, it is SO LOUD that it sounds like something has exploded to the rest of us in the bedroom. This might not be a problem during daytime, but it's certainly a nuisance late at night if one of us gets up to use the facilities.

Though it's not perfect, the Kaohsiung Ambassador Hotel is still a very well-run hotel. I would be happy to stay here again.

I have been staying in the Ambassador hotel for many years with work and I have never been disappointed with my experiences. Superb location in down town Kaohsiung and easy walking distance from the night markets. The rooms whilst being comfortable and clean could do with a slight modern facelift. Great views of the port and Love river. The staff are friendly and attentive to the needs of the guests. Breakfast is an Asian and European style buffet which covers most. If you plan to visit the lovely city of Kaohsiung I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: River facing have nice views.

We have always enjoyed staying here for several reasons.

1. Hotel try's hard to ensure I get a good price.

2. The hotels food is excellent mix of international dishes.

3. Hotel always ensures we get the exact room with the Love River view.

4. Access to Love River and night time family entertainment.

5. Great help in arranging our unique touring requests.

So if you decide to come down to southern Taiwan you can consider staying here.

Happy Travels!
