I was surprised that someone wrote about getting help buying a ticket. I found nothing to buy a ticket for. I just went in, said what I was interested in and walked up to the 2nd floor to see the exhibit. What ticket?
The building is probably more interesting than the exhibits. The permanent exhibits on the ground floor have no English, just Chinese, but are still moderately interesting. The special exhibit on the "American Dream" was carefully and thoroughly explained with English labels. It was a nice idea with some interesting artifacts, but not as interesting as it might have been. Many of the artifacts were too tiny to see or to read. Blow-up photos of some would have been helpful.
All in all, not a place you'd go out of your way for, but a nice enough escape from the heat for 30 to 45 minutes -- if you happen to be in the neighborhood. The history of the building, which I read online, was actually more interesting than the museum exhibits.
The walk back through parks, over the Love River and into the city centre was actually the highlight of the visit.
