“Magnificent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

We visited several attractions in the park. Shakadang, Swallow Grotto were excellent and breathtaking. Also wanted to see Baiyang waterfall trail, but it was closed. All in all, the park was beautiful and very clean. However, falling rocks seemed to be very common in the park. Pls consult the park headquarters to borrow a helmet, especially if you plan to see the swallow grotto.

We took the Taroko route of the Taiwan shuttle bus. 台灣好行太魯閣線 Tickets can be purchased near the train station. It is a one-day or two-day pass with which passenger can get on and off various scenic attractions of the park at designated schedule. The only problem is that they tend to oversell tickets and be sure to line up early for a seat.

“Impressive”

Beautiful and great. With what he had seen. Some places require a foot, which is not suitable for the elderly.
Convenient to charter a car, take time to tour around 8 hours, which is something you need to plan a trip. Booking train tickets back to Taipei is not easy. Avoid visiting on Sundays or holidays.

“My first choice for national parks in Taiwan and still is.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

Instead of saying what I like or dislike, maybe I will give some tips:

*There are no admission fees to this park.
*Engage a qualified guide who can act as a driver instead of a driver who is not a qualified guide but offers some commentaries from time to time. You can benefit more...
*Good to go in Sep, Oct when the weather is milder, not too many typhoons such that the rocks could crumble from time to time...
*Bring torchlights (many dark tunnels to walk through if you go on Baiyang Trail), ponchos (also for Baiyang Trail) and dress adequately for the hikes, even though recreational.
*Bring a water bottle and moisturizer because the weather in Oct could be very windy...

“Beautiful”

This national park didn't have the admission fee. It's very beautiful, but the road is too narrow, and too many tours buses. If you are driving yourself, it's hard to find the trail entrance, because there is no much signs.

“Splendid views in Taroko”

Taroko Gorge is part of this national park, and all the views are splendid, and well connected via road or walkable routes.
