“Good package deals if you book direct”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2010

We booked here via the hotels website and they had a promotion that for a two night stay midweek, they included two xday tours of our choice from a long list. We also needed to book a 3rd night B&B due to the time of our flight. At GBP56.00 each night, this worked out great value. They offered free pick-up from the airport, check-in was easy, although it helps if you speak Chinese. You pick what breakfast you would like the night before from a good selection on a menu card and they deliver to your room the next morning and at a time that fits in with any tours you may have. We did the 1 day Tarako Gourge trip... fantastic!! and the half day Rift Valley tour. Both have a good number of stops to take photos and look around.
The Hotel rooms are nice and clean. Aircon, TV, safe and mini fridge with free bottled water. They are a little older in decor but kept very nice.
All the hotel staff were friendly and helped with directions, offered free bycle and was located down a quite road about 10mins from the city centre. We walked in each tonight and found some great places to eat ... try Lao Shao Dumpling House, its well known in the city! Also Mothers Country Kitchen.
Overall, good - clean - and comfortable stay

paid $60 a night for a room via expedia. this included free transportation to/from the train station, free daily breakfast delivered to your room, free wifi, and free bicycles. we couldn't get our cell phones to work in taiwan so we took our own taxi from the station to the hotel for 160 TWD. the breakfast was pretty good in my opinion! i had waffles/sausage/fruit one morning and a chicken sub sandwich/fruit the other morning. there were always 6 choices as well as your choice of drink. the wifi only works in the lobby. we didn't ride the bicycles as i was too scared due to the traffic/scooters everywhere!
the room was very nice, clean, and roomy. there were several english channels on the TV. also there was a mini-fridge, water boiler (we bought ramen from the convenience store), table and chairs, and desk. and the bed was sooooo comfy!! my only complaint is that there were no toiletries provided, not even soap for the bathroom sink.
the staff was not overly friendly, but they were extremely accommodating. when we got there, they got hot water for us so we could eat ramen. they hired a taxi for us for a tour through taroko gorge NP. we asked at the lobby for chopsticks one day and they couldn't find any then, but then called and delivered some to our room a few minutes later. when the wifi didn't work in our room, they brought us a cord so we could have wired internet in the room.
the location is ok. a bit of a haul from the train station, but they do provided free transportation so no big deal. you can walk to "downtown" from the hotel but there aren't a great number of restaurants or nightlife nearby.

We can't say enough about the excellent service in this hotel - from the free pickup at the train station to the helpful advice from the front desk personnel to the cleaning staff.

The hotel is a little off the beaten track - about a 15-minute walk to downtown or the seaside walk - but that also means the neighborhood is dead quiet if you want a good sleep.

This hotel also has extremely comfy beds...most hotel beds we've had in Asia are very hard. The beds at C'est Jeune are wonderfully soft....No difficulty getting to sleep here....

Another great feature is the free bicycle rentals...a nice little touch that saves you a few bucks.

We also appreciate having breakfast served in the room - also at no additional charge. Brekkies are simple, but adequate. You have a choice of six different meals plus hot or cold drinks.

It not a Hilton, but your stay at C'est Jeune will be comfortable and you get great value for the money.

We'll definitely stay here again.

A basic, no-frills hotel for just 1 night stay, if you are going to Taroko National Park. Value for money. Nothing interesting in the vicinity. Nanbin Night Market is more for kids.

Stayed here for 3 nights.
Firstly, the hotel is far away from anything, at least a 20 minute walk to civilisation and it's down a dark back street. Coming back at night was a nightmare as the little map the hotel provided had all the streets spelled wrong and a good few of them missing and it wasn't to scale so it took us 2 hours wandering around in circles trying find out way back.

Breakfast was revolting. You had to order your selection the previous evening & it was brought to the door at the designated time. It was very cold, dripping in grease and completely tasteless. We tried all the selections between us & nothing was pleasant.

The room was good in size but the most awful smell lingered all the time we stayed there. The air conditioning was impossible to switch on, it just did what it wanted to, sometimes comming on at 3am!! In the room was a kettle and tea bags but for some reason you had to go to the reception for coffee??

The only good thing about this place is the staff, who were very pleasant. But most of the people from Taiwan are !!

Not worth the money.

We stayed there for one night while visiting Torako Gorges. The hotel is clean, nice small lobby. The rooms are very basic. But very clean, and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is included, but a little cold once delivered to your room. The staff can speak basic english and will try to help you in your requests.

If you`re not expecting too much luxary, this hotel is perfect as a base to explore Hualien and the region

This hotel is great value, since the rate includes breakfast and the pick up to and from the train station (which makes it very handy when arriving at Hualien!). The hotel¡s lobby is modern (with temporary art expositions of local artists). The rooms are basic, but everything you would need. Breakfast is simple (it is served in your room, and previously you need to choose what you want to have for breakfast). If you are heading to Hualien and the Taroko National Park, this is the perfect place to stay (do not expect anything special, but it is good for a one or two nights stay). By the way, the hotel can organize a one day trip to the Taroko National Park with a taxi for only 2500 Taiwan Dollars.
