Beautiful, quiet, secluded location. Accommodations were different, cozy. Really liked the rustic cabin feel. Staff was friendly....show and entertainment was great. It was put on by the staff and different every night. But it's all in chinese. They took us on a night walk to look for owls, flying squirrels and listen for wild boars. Then they had a few games set up and a fire pit with benches for star gazing. It was like going to summer camp! Dinner was interesting and educational in a good way. The soup was really good. Breakfast was included also. They help arrange hikes and outings. There is a Taroko cultural center right there too with 2 hiking trails. One night is enough to get a feel for Taroko Gorge, but if you want to enjoy yourself and relax 2 nights is perfect. Kids might get bored if it's more than that since they don't have a pool. ;-)

it is a very nice place, everything is good. I was the first time at vacation in Taiwan, we made some trips around this area and it was very nice, the view, the people all are very friendly.
the food is different but good. Not so boring like in Europe, every day different.
They show there also traditional things like dancing, make music and so on.

This is my first time staying in the Leader Village Taroko, which is run with a strong theme of helping the younger generations of the Taroko aborigines. This hotel is not ranked as high as Silks Place because it does not have a pool, workout gears, etc. but I am really impressed by its theme and shows. The LVT CEO only hires the Tarokos to run the hotel. Most of the staff are teenagers and participate in the nightly show (2000-2130). The teens do not have a complete family background but they behave well and work hard. As strongly encouraged by the LVT CEO, they attend schools in the day time and work part time at the LVT. The CEO is part of the show too. Feel free to donate some money at the end of the show for the educational charity fund established by the LVT CEO for the young Tarokos. Hope this English review would help you to understand what the CEO wants to deliver in most part of the show as it is mediated in Chinese.

The taxi fare to this place fron Sincheng train station took about 40 min and cost NT 500. Taxis outside the train station were plenty and once there you are transported to another place. Nestled in a valley surrounded by mist shrouded mountains, the chalets each houses two rooms with tatami beds and timber flooring. The bedroom size is adequate and the bathroom has a rain shower. There was also a flat screen TV and a small refrigerator.Toiletries and two bottles of water as well as bedroom slippers were also supplied. Outside there is also a small balcony where one can sip tea and enjoy the serene surroundings.
There is a fifteen minute trail just behind the hotel easy walk through a forest and another down a long flight of steps to a teahouse where we had coffee and ice-cream.
Dinner was a traditional tribal meal consisting of barbecued pork ribs which I enjoyed but my partner could not eat it because he found it too gamey.
The show was put up by the staff on duty and we found it entertaining despite negative reviews. Perhaps it was because we understood chinese. Lasted about an hour.
Breakfast was adequate with bread, eggs, bacon, ham, salad, fruits and dumplings, noodles, porridge etc. adequate to start the day with.
We then set off to explore the gorge with a driver and a minvan that could easily fit 15 people and cost NT7500 booked by the hotel manager, arranged before hand by internet.
Altogether a most wonderful place and we were truly sorry to leave so fast. A must go.

What the other reviewers shared were accurate. The night temperature was around 15degree Celsius and the absence of a room heater was bearable as there was an electric heating blanket to keep warm.
The wild boar meat should not be the main course. It was not very delicious and all of us would like to sink our teeth into something that were familiar with.
It would be a struggle to eat the pork again if we plan to stay a second night.

This feels more like a holiday chalet with nice scenery all around. After a long drive around winding roads, the sight that greeted us upon arrival held us in awe. Mountains surrounding the place with clouds/mists at the summits.

Room was also cosy amid a jungle setting. Very hot shower with equally cold spring water. Peaceful environment.

What is interesting is how the locals Taroko are employed in this place. Very enriching experience to see, hear and experience their culture and traditions.

Unique experience indeed. The kids loved the surroundings.

We headed to the Leader Village after several days in Taipei. Driver met us at the train station with about a one hour drive to the hotel which is inside the national park - a big plus.
No, this isn't a five star resort with an infinity pool and a top chef. But just step outside in the morning and drink in the Champagne air to realise this is special. Our room was simple but had everything we needed. Dinner was a buffet with a bbq - not fancy but just right. From the hotel you can walk to Swallow Gorge - just head down the world's longest flight of steps and turn left at the bottom. Allow about 2- 3 hours.
Staff are lovely - they do a show each night which is probably experienced best once, but full of heart and humour even. We loved this hotel.
