My family and I dined at Ian's Table for our tenth wedding anniversary. It was a special experience that we will always remember. From the moment we arrived, Ian and his wife made us all feel very welcome -- they even had a special setting at the table for our preschooler, and our baby loved their tomato soup. Ian prepared a beautiful floral table setting for the occasion, and with the soft jazz and classical music playing in the background, we felt as if we had been transported into another era.
After the event, what really stood out was Ian's dedication to quality produce. Everything had a story, from the roasted banana ice-cream made with locally grown bananas in the hills, to his own home-brined pork belly. They source many items locally and try to buy organic or pesticide free where possible.
If you have ever dreamed of skipping the Asian-city rat race and moving to the stunning beauty of Hualian's East Coast, then this place is for you. My only regret in dining here was that I could not stay and that we had to go back to Taipei rather than lingering longer in this idyllic part of the world.
