“Nice and new hotel located in the heart of Hualien Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

We stayed here for 2 nights in May 2014. It was delightful. We were received and picked up by the hotel staff from Hualien Train Station free of charge at night. They greeted us warmly and arranged for our bags to be sent to our room. The room was big, clean and comfortable for 2 of us. They had all the usual amenities expected of good hotels. Breakfast spread was good and delicious. Best of all, it was low peak season so no crowds.

Where we were located, near the main street of Hualien, we could walk 8 min to the Rainbow Night Market (mostly simple game stores plus outdoor dining, quite deserted and not worth your time unless you want to eat dinner), 5 min to the clothing shopping street (fabulous finds for children's clothing at 100TWD per shirt/pants), 3 min to the souvenir stores (we bought seafood snacks and stock for making soup), tried famous Hualien food like bian shi (wanton) and mua chee (mochi) with different stuffings. I would suggest avoiding the large restaurant (indoor plus outdoor dining, looks catered to tourists) near the hotel and eat tzechar (stir frys) at Rainbow Night Market. We paid high prices eating at the restaurant (we had bird's nest fern, sliced fish and wild deer). I am sure we could have had a similar meal at half the prices at Rainbow Night Market.

Arsma Hotel is very close to the market (city center) where you can shop and eat at night time also. Good for business people to spend time at night. City is small also and you can walk everywhere from the hotel. Wi-fi is free and connection is ok. Hotel rooms are big and clean. Breakfast is Chinese and good enough for Taiwan standarts. Hotel room rate is approx. 2.600 NT

Our stay at Arsma was fantastic! We were happily greeted by Jasper, an excellent host with exceptional english. He provided us with a free pick up from the station and then a comprehensive map about the city, places to go, eat and enjoy. He were also provided with detailed info about Taroko National Park (our reason for visiting Hualien), as well as a brief history of the gorge itself. Our only recommendation is do not take the local bus. Although it is cheaper, we spent hours waiting for them to show up! Also check which sites are closed, we weren't aware of this before getting to the park. Hire a taxi for the day if you can. Overall our stay at Arsma Hotel was great! We really recommend this hotel as location is great (5 mins from city centre, 10 mins from train station and 15 mins from airport). Thanks again Jasper and team for your wonderful hospitality.

Got this hotel for one night while on a trip down the east coast of Taiwan. planned to stay only one night but we chose one more to go use as base for a visit to taroko gorge. Paid around 90 usd. a night for a big corner room with a view over town, ocean and mountains. Very luxurious with all what is needed, a high tech bathroom with remote control!!!
Couch area, office area and bed area all in one room.
Very freindly staff an a english speaking man who gave us a thorougly introduction to Hualien and surroundings in perfect enlish.
Very recommendable place to stay.

After spending three nights in Taroko National Park at Silks Place, we decided to spend one night in Hualien before our train back to Taipei. We had such a great time. We strolled around the city center which is just a few blocks from the hotel. Had lunch at Dos Tacos which was great Mexican food. It too is just a short walk from the hotel. The best part about our stay was the location. We were able to easily walk everywhere we wanted to go. Breakfast was sub-par but suited our needs. The kids loved the play room but it's a bit small.

From Hualien train station, taxi fare was NT150 to the hotel. Stayed 2 nights for NT5,800 which is a really great bargain.

Being new, it has a great modern quality room: clean bed, bathroom, nice big TV. The japanese toilet bowl was a nice touch, having a built-in seat warmer is a luxury when the weather is cold.

As for location, ask for the local map from the reception. There are plenty of great food stalls and local products store to spend the night walking the nearby streets.

We had a 6am train to catch to kaoshiung (the other slots were fully booked. lesson learnt: booking 2 days earlier wasn't enough) and arranged for a morning call. The hotel staff didn't make the call, we overslept, the taxi driver left and we were in a panic mode. At the reception, the staff responded immediately by grabbing the hotel car keys, escorting us to the car, and speeding off to the train station. Made it in 10 mins with 5 mins to spare. Love the service recovery.

Fantastic value new hotel in centre of town. Goes over and above to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable
Standouts include:
- amazing value with facilities on par with a five star hotel, for a fraction Of the price
- speedy free wifi
- free shuttle pick ups from train station- just make sure you book in advance
- large spacious rooms, some with ocean views
-very comfortable mattress and sheets
- fancy toilet with all the trimmings, only issue is figuring out how to use it
- dual shower heads with waterfall like head for firm massage like shower as well as the usual spray shower head
- coin operated self serve washer and dryer inside hotel, very convenient for long term travelers
- extensive breakfast spread
- parting gift of mochis for completing the feedback form
- walking distance from railway art markets
They also have Bike hire on site, but limited selection. Staff trying very hard to please you, so be patient with their English.
Note that checkin time is 3pm so room may not be ready, but they will store luggage and it is well worth the wait.
