Taiwanese clients brought us here. Time was tight due to pending train departure, and the queue outside this ramshackle foodstand/café made me think this wasn't going to happen, but we managed to grab a table inside and for 45 minutes experienced the most incredible lunch of goose, bird nest ferns, bamboo shoots, fois gras, fried oysters, and Taiwan beer which is the best. Forget the humble setting, forget the limp geese hanging on the wall, don't look too closely at the peeling paint - just listen to the owner, a most cheerful sort of guy who speaks English well, and let him guide you through his menu. It's gastronomically pleasing and you will have eaten true Taiwanese food prepared simply and very well. Does it get any better than this?
