Our group had problem trying to find a place to stay in HuaLian city last minute and stumbled upon this place while going through a listing of hotels/hostels in Google.
For the price of NT$1880 (on a Friday), we were able to get a decent room for 4 (2 double beds). This price is much less than the other hotels/hostels we had enquired earlier, which usually cost between NT$2400-3000 per room. Even though the humble-looking building and interior appears a tad old, the furnishings were acceptable and clean.
Furthermore, the hotel provides a working ethernet cable as well as free wifi on every floor (The wifi is a bit slow and erratic if your room is too far away from the router though). There is also a old but working air-conditoner, a 30-inch television, private hot water dispenser, mini fridge, and a private bathroom with a working heater.
The hotel is located in a small back street with mostly residential buildings around, so its really quiet even during the day. However, pick up a local tourist map at the counter and you can see that the main shopping area (WanHua Street, etc) is just a 5 minutes walk down the street from the hotel. The local nightmarket (Zi Chiang nightmarket) is about 30-minutes walk away, so I would advise visitors to take a taxi (Costs us around NT100) to the nightmarket.
The staff is friendly and helpful, and pointed out some of the attractions and shopping areas on the map for us when they see us trying to figure the map out in the hotel lobby. The security around the area is also pretty good when we were there, we were able to wander around even at 10pm and there were still lots of people around.
The hotel does not have a lot of parking space though, so be advised if you are driving there!
Overall, even though this hotel may not be shiny and glitzy with lots of facilities and auxiliary services, if you are just looking for a cheap and comfortable place to stay, this hotel is definitely a great consideration!
