“Convenient, reasonable, but definitely needs a makeover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2014

This family owned hotel is conveniently located, but there was a construction site next to it at the moment of our visit which was annoying. Rooms definitely need a serious makeover, we recommend to go for a superior room at least. All rooms seem not to have been refurnished for years. Convenience store, markets, shops and restaurants are all near by. Staff is nice, but speaks only little English. But if you don’t mind the interieur, it’s a convenient and very reasonable place to stay in Hualien. In the end: You get what you pay for. For a short trip it is really okay.

Except for a terrible advice (no, you can't walk the Taroko Gorge: too long -for one day trip- and too dangerous as the road is meant for cars), East 26 was a good stay. Western breakfast is superbasic (bread, butter, jam) and rooms look more worn out and less fancy than online pics. BUT. What really makes this place worth is the outstanding service. The staff goes above & beyond their duties to meet your needs. Anyone tries its best: i have a special mention for a petite dark haired girl in the afternoon shift who could speak some English and for the great manager Nick, who went great lenght to help me with everything (he even anticipated train ticket money on my behalf). They provided all the transfers to the train station, free bike rental and a true homey feeling.

We had a non smoking room, with a comfortable bed, good linen, nice shower and toilet, TV, air con. Daily room service with 2 bottles of water provided daily. Free use of their bikes, and free shuttle bus to the train station. The included breakfast was ok- lots of Chinese options, but not much western choice.
The best thing about this hotel was the very helpful staff. They even recommended where to go for a nice meal, and drinks. They translated names for our next destination into Chinese for us.
The worst thing was that they do not have plain, hot black tea for breakfast, or in the room- not a deal breaker.
Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Great location, room clean and adequate, great shower, friendly staff. We didn't try the breakfast as we were out too early each day (it's from 7 until 9) and we also didn't make use of the bicycle hire facilities as we were with a tour guide or walking on our own.

Good location 5 minutes walk to the beach & also close to shopping area. A comfortable stay with very friendly helpful staff. Not much English spoken but with help of google translate managed to book a half day taxi tour of Taroko Gorge. Fantastic!

It's situated right in the middle of the town, only 5 minutes away from Hualien Train Station. They even provided free pick up from and to the train station and airport, but you need to inform them earlier for the pick up prior your arrival. Free bicycle rental is also provided. You can just go cycling to the East Scenic Coastal Area which is 10 mins away and go around the town. It's safe to cycle around the town, the traffic is not that busy. One of the staff at front desk speaks pretty good English. She gave us a lot of tips for where to eat and where to go around town. All in all, it's a very recommended place to stay for all types of travellers.

Room was very spacious, comfortable bed, able to sleep well compared to the other hotels we stayed in Taipei during this trip.
Strong wifi, breakfast was better than the other places we stayed in Taipei/Cingjing during this trip but don't expect American breakfast, this is Taiwan. Happy about choosing this hotel in Hualien as taxis do not ply the streets, hotel is next to shopping district. Staff were polite. Will stay there again if going to Hualien.
