“nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Nice hotel. Japanese style room room addition to the name, the layout of the room not much. Everything was great, but somewhat dated.
There was only 1 seat in the room
Separate toilet and shower.
room was clean. Plenty of towels.
Reception spoke little English but was very helpful.
wifi connection on 6th floor was poor.
air conditioning is noisy and lack of an English manual difficult to set.
neat buffet breakfast!!
Hotel is close to night market and other restaurants
Good ratio ….price - product

The hotel was great. We booked three rooms for ourselves, the kids and friends and all were very nice and we were surprised by how stylish they were. The service from front desk was very friendly, although they had almost no English and our Chinese is not great. Still, due to their willingness to assist we got everything that we needed. They have a very usefull walking map that is kept behind front-desk, so ask for it, as it had all of the in-town sites listed which made it much easier in the taxi. Breakfast was plentiful and varied, fairly typical hotel buffet style. We would stay here again if we took other friends to see Toroko.

The hotel was new and modern with delightful rooms, wonderful selection of food for breakfast and a great location. Most things are within a few blocks of the hotel. The staff is well trained and was great attending to our needs.

Come out from the hotel turn left you will discover more and more good food, soon you will reach town central; turn right to railway station and tairaku bus station just five minutes drive. Rooms are clean with quite fasionable interior design, but definitely not big. Staff are friendly, willing to give suggestions. They even offered to deliver our luggages to train station, so that we can make our move straightly without going back hotel to take luggage after our day trip to tairako.

Ask for a room with window.

Taking a trip to the Taroko National Park from Taipei. Decided to stay one night in Hualien instead of rushing back to Taipei.
This hotel is a good city center hotel, new, clean. Lobby very artistic with a good library of books in both Chinese & English. Grab a book and a cup of complimentary tea, sit on one of the comfy sofas and relax after a full day of sightseeing.
2 night markets in the area you can visit. You can borrow a bike from the hotel and bike to night market or city center is just 5 minutes away walking (actually downtown just consists of 3 streets, in a triangle so it's easy to manage) Loads of good restaurants and good food nearby.
Rooms are good size, clean. Not as beautiful as the lobby but I'm impressed anyways for a decent price hotel in Hualien. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone.
Breakfast is decent, nothing special. But good to grab something to eat before you do Taroko gorge.
Bonus, hotel offer free transporation to/from train station or airport.

Room Tip: All good rooms. Clean and generous size.

We decided to stay in Hualien city intead of in resorts because it's cheaper and we like the freedom of having convenience within walking distance (eg. convenient stores, restaurants, movie theatre, etc.). Our itinerary was also jam packed with 2 day tours of Hualien attrations so our focus was not resorts like the Promised Land. The location was few blocks away from the downtown core. Hualien downtown is not much of a tourist attraction but we like the convenience it offered. Also, some good stores if you want to buy some Hualien specialty foods.

The room itself was much bigger than what we are used to in Asia. Very clean, comfy bed and big bathroom. While I appreciated the decorations (pretty trendy) the lighting in the room was poor. This is my major complaint. I had to drag the lamp by the desk to my bedside in order to have enough light to read. There were lots of English TV movie channels (kudos to Taiwan in general!). The breakfast was very average, nothing outstanding.

The best thing about the hotel is the service like free bike rentals and tour bookings. Hotel also arranges complimentary train station pickup with their shuttle bus, approximately 10mins drive away. The also booked our day trips to the Taroko National Park and the white water rafting. I communicated in mandarin, so not sure how the staff's English abilities.

I would recommend and stay there again if I ever return to Hualien.
