“Great Hotel, Friendly Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Stayed 2 nights in Dec 2012, great hotel with very efficient and friendly staffs. Definitely recommended. Breakfast was great. Cycle along the coast was the most enjoyable for my kids. This place gave us a very good memory of Taiwan.

Room Tip: Try to select room with Balcony.

i stayed at this hotel with 3 other friends (the 4 of us on 2 queen-size beds) for 2 nights. not only were the rooms super clean, the whole ambiance of the hotel was quiet and relaxing. one of the best breakfast buffets i've ever had here in taiwan - they served both western and asian breakfasts (though more of the latter), and i'm sure i wasn't the only one who went back for seconds...and thirds...

they also lend out bicycles (they have a full garage of Giant brand bikes) that were all in wonderful condition. my friends and i each chose a different colour and went on our way. there is a well-paved bike path that takes you along the coast line. we didn't go the full bike route (it eventually starts going uphill and my friends were not too keen on that), but it didn't matter, as it was nice to just bike and stop along the water. if you go the other direction of the path, it takes you to Qi-Xin-Tan scenic area - not much there, but again, you can lock your bikes and then just head down to the water - not many tourists and the water was gorgeous.

the hotel also has a little cafe area, which we didn't make use of, but they offered free biscuits (and amaaaazing ones, at that!) my friends and i were grabbing them up until the moment we left. despite being down an alley where theres also about 10 other hostel/b&b-type places around, it was not noisy at all. there is also a Family Mart right at the entrance of the alley.

the only downside was that we were planning on utilising their balcony rest area (with a little spa and lounge chairs) that had a wonderful view of the water, but when we got up there, the chairs were gone and there was no water in the spa. not sure what happened there, but it was not available for use. but i guess that was okay since we're only minutes from the actual water!

if you don't have a car/scooter, you're a bit limited on food choices (unless you want to eat Family Mart food). but the front desk will kindly call for a taxi for you, after which you can negotiate with the cab driver to pick you up at a certain time and deliver you back to the hotel. for food - head for Zhi-Qiang night market - were one of the best bbq stalls in taiwan lives! (seriously, there was always a 15 minute wait everytime we put in our order!)

overall great experience there, would definitely stay there again. one of my friends has already gone back!

This is a great hotel. The prices are reasonable, location is great, rooms are clean and comfortable - and the staff are absolutely FANTASTIC. Amazingly helpful and go out of their way to do all they can to make the stay the best it can be. When my partner had a problem they drove her into town and helped her sort it out and charged nothing for their time and local knowledge....service way over what would normally be expected. There's also a great bike ride for that passes right in front of the hotel and they lend out bikes at no charge. Oh, and they speak good English!

The hotel staffs and the boss are very friendly and helpful and some even remember our surname. There is also free transport from train station to the hotel, free bicycle rental, nice sea & mountain view, cycling track, very cosy room with sea view, big shower head for bath and breakfast was surprising good. The taxi driver booked by the hotel (which is also under the same boss) for day trip to Taroko Gorge was very good and helpful and even brought us to eat their local nice food. Will definitely come back to stay again if have the chance to go hualian again.

What can I say, the staff here are unbelievably helpfull and accomodating. There was a young man on the counter who spoke excellent English and just went above and beyond with his helpfulness. He recommended great restaurants and when my mother broke her only pair of glasses, he drove her into town to get them repaired, all for no extra charge and he wouldn't accept a tip! Best service we've received anywhere, ever.
My only small problem was that someone was smoking in their room and due to a shared A/C system, it filled our room with a smoke smell. We just opened the window - no big deal.

The location was awesome, right by the beach and you can watch the sunrise in the morning. if you don't like to walk around too much, the hotel offers free bike rental throughout the day so you can cycle around. Taroko was only 20 mins drive away (or hotel can arrange taxi).

The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful. We arrived late and the staff there offered to take us to the only restaurant left opened that night. They always greeted us with a big smile, it was lovely. Room was great, clean, spacious and got a fantastic view!

The only thing is that if you are a foodie and would like close access to food, then you would have to head to Hualien city centre, which is about 15 mins drive away. Anyway, parking is really easy in this part of town so my advice is to rent a car and make your life easier.

Room Tip: Get a room with sea view, it's really really worth it!

Hotel Bayview was a great place to stay in many ways.

Room: The hotel room was clean, nice and cozy, and the toilet was spacious. Water pressure in the toilet was good, and hot water came on demand. Air-conditioning was a little complicated to adjust though. Beds and pillows were comfortable.

Facilities: Free bicycle rental, 24 hour cafe with coffee and biscuits, delicious breakfast in the morning, driver from hotel to town. Convenience store nearby.

Location: Great view from the ocean-view rooms. Location is a little far from town, but in a cozy little area with a nice cycling path. Excellent area to relax and let your hair down.

***Service: Leaving the best for last here. I had an early train out of Hualien the next day, and tried to get the printed tickets from the nearby convenience store. However, due to some error on their system, they could only print a receipt but not the train tickets. As it was a Taiwanese public holiday the next day, my friends and I were worried that the train station would be packed, and we would have to either leave VERY early to get the tickets at the train station or risk missing the train. We went back to the hotel at about 730pm, telling them of our problem, and the boss of the hotel immediately offered to drive me to a nearby 7-11 to get the tickets. At the 7-11, there was another error on their system (unlucky right?). The boss then decided to send me all the way to the train station to get the tickets right there and then. Throughout the whole journey, he was exceptionally friendly and obliging, despite me taking up much of his time. He went out of his way to give us peace of mind, and didn't stop till I had the train tickets collected.

All in all, hotel Bayview is a great hotel with outstanding service quality. Prices are reasonable too, so do consider giving them a try.

Room Tip: Book early to get the ocean-view rooms
