“Worth a visit and very friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2012

We had one night in the Royal Swazi en route through Swaziland.

Its quite impressive as you drive up to the hotel building. The grounds are very well kept and form a good view for rooms to the rear. The rooms are fine but not up to a similar star rating as in SA next door.

We found the staff to be really good and genuinely friendly.

The Casino is a bit smokey and not the best feature of the hotel..but I guess it pays a few bills!

Planters restaurant was very good. Decent service and good food. But please can't they think of a better name than 'Planters' it doesn't do justice to the setting of the hotel or the quality on offer.
All in all a pleasant place to stay when in Swaziland.

I can`t understand why Hotels tell you they are wheelchair friendly when they are not! We travelled all the way to Swaziland and discovered on check in that they had no disabled room! When we made the booking,we asked them plenty times if the room is wheelchair friendly...I did not expect/exept this from a 5 Star Sun International Hotel!

The Hotel was build in 1967. Lesson: I will never again sleep in a Hotel that is older than 10 years. They simply don`t comply with the normal wheelchair standards!

We were on a tour and only stayed here one night. My first impression was a good one. Room was very good. The hotel setting is amazing, set right on a golf course. We had no problem whilst staying.

I found the hotel comfortable and the staff very friendly. The beds and pillows were great. The bathroom could do with modernising for the type of hotel it is (i.e. it has no separate shower and the bath was uncomfortable), but this was a minor issue. We were on a corporate rate and I thought it was fairly good value compared to other hotels similar to it in Africa.

I am currently staying at this hotel and if it was possible i would move.
It looks impressive when you enter! and the lounge area is vey nice to sit in.

The bedrooms are in need of refurbishing, carpets, beds walls marked, Ants on chairs, tables, probably bed too. We have special upostery spray.

I requested an iron for 15 mins as a one off, just to freshen up a shirt prior to an evening meeting. They will not provide an iron for you to smarten up your clothes after 2 days of flying, but they will take them and bill you.

They only provide drinking water when you arrive, so maybe I should check in and out each day for 2 weeks.

You have to pay for internet service and it is extremely slow in the rooms.

If you have any problems, the duty manager will redirect you to the dept. the dept.will redirect you to reception and eventually you realise they are not interested.

Weekends are busy with the gambling, which is fine, lots of money making there, but they should remember that there are folk who do not have money to waste.

Buffet dinner, all food was cold. PLanters nice.

I have lived and worked in Africa for years, so my expectations vary with each country. I stayed in the Elzuwini Sun last visit years ago, i wonder if that has gone the same way.

Tennis courts, no equipment or coach or ball boys, same with squash.

Gym, tiny, not airconditioned, health club

SPA, towels old, threadbare and frayed . Using dirty towelling slippers is appalling. However the thearpists are truly excellent.

Restaurant and pool staff loveley, concierge pretty good to when you can locate them

My adivice, do not stay at this coporate group. There are a couple of really decent boutique hotels nearby.
