“Convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

We stayed in Mantenga lodg for four nights and we were very happy to have chosen it for our Swaziland holiday. It is located a few kilometers from the border post (Oshoek/Ngwenya). The Swazi village, Museum, Casino and Swazi candlles and Mlilwane Park are very close to the lodge. If you need to get some necessities, the Corner Plaza and Gables shopping center are within close reach.
Watch out for gravel roads (off main road) to the lodge and most tourist attractions. It seems like only the main roads are paved in Swaziland.
The staff at the lodge were very friendly, polite and helpful!

Room Tip: Choose the Execution Rock room for the best view!

Nice lodge, with great shower and terrace ( watch out for the monkeys) and a good meal at the restaurant with it's great terrace overlooking the executionrock !!! It was nice to go to the cultural villge close buy to watch a local dance and a Swaziland village , even it it was somewhat commercial set-up ! Don't forget to see the waterfall from there !!

Room Tip: Take a room a bit more expensive, makes a big difference !!

Mantenga Lodge is a great, little hotel. Nestled in the middle of the Ezulwini Valley, this is a reasonably priced hotel that offers easy access to the best in the valley - including the not-to-be-missed Mantenga Cultural Village.

Rooms are comfortable - not luxurious. Think of a nice Super 8 or Ibis, for instance. Internet is free, but painfully slow. The hotel features a nice swimming pool and a restaurant serving a delicious a-la-carte/buffet breakfast (enjoy it on the nice verandah!).

I would not hesitate to suggest this hotel to anyone interested in a value stay in Swaziland.

I have been staying at Mantenga Lodge during my travels (for work) for the last five years. Words can not describe my gratitude towards the management (Aiden, Rob and Paloma) as well as the staff for always making me feel so welcome. I can recommend Mantenga for many other reasons as well. It is located in a beautiful setting in the heart of the Ezulwini Valley. There are a shopping centre nearby for those who needs anything that they have forgotten. There is a crystal clear pool to laze around on those warm summer days. Cocktails can be enjoyed on a deck overlooking the most beautiful valley. This is really a home away from home for me!

We stayed at Mantenga Lodge for 4 nights and enjoyed a fantastic holiday. The lodges are perfectly located in the heart of the Ezulwini Valley, with stunning picturesque scenery. All activities and attractions are very close by, including the majestic Mantenga Falls and traditional Swazi village. The restaurant was homely and the outside decking area offers a beautiful setting with tree lights and candles. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent, especially the buffet breakfast. The rooms are basic but are clean and very comfortable. Highly recommended as one of the best places to stay if adventuring in Swaziland. We will definitely stay there again.

I wasn't sure about the hotel at first as there were a couple of coaches parked in the car park. Nevertheless, there is plenty to like about the hotel. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, and the view from the restaurant is awesome. In addition, the location is perfect, just near the foot of a mountain for an early hike, near shops, and near the tourist information and other tourist facilities.
On that basis, I would like to give it a better rating, but there were also a few issues. The room wasn't warm enough for my liking. The food in the restaurant was a little disappointing. Staff seemed a little 'tired' at times. In addition cleaning staff frequently left my ground floor window open, which could have proved an invitation to burglars or mosquitos, although I am glad to say neither took up the opportunity. Also, the internet did not effectively work, except at reception.

Room Tip: The cheaper rooms are closer to the car park, which can be handy, although the more expensive rooms...

We spent two nights at Mantenga (one in a King Solomon room and the other in an Execution Rock chalet). The chalets seem a little older and slightly smaller but I highly recommend them for the setting - lush foilage filled with monkeys and a balcony with table, chairs and a great view of Execution Rock. The restaurant & staff were wonderful. Breakfast is bountiful and delicious. Dinner on the deck is romantic, illuminated by twinkling lights, candles and stars. Our only issue was with the shower, which was very hard to regulate, alternately scalding and freezing us without warning. All things considered, a great value and location.
